RE: PC version?
Nice. It looks very good. [8D]
The wooden table, the dices and, if I'm not mistaken, the joint between two maps (4th shot, between Line 8 and 1) ! These are very nice touches.

Well, the joint is probably soimething that will go away. We do, however, design the scenarios just like we did in the board game... by fitting geomorphic maps together.

RE: PC version?
Ok... I'll be the geek... what's going on with the "little girl" with the teddy bear?! Movement rate of 2, morale of 4.... is it:
1. Units cannot fire into or through a hex containing her?
2. Only SS units can fire into or through a hex containing her and her teddy bear and if she's KIA, all units within line-of-sight must make a morale check?
3. Someone gets VPs for escorting her back home to hex G3?
Can she become a "hero"?
If she is killed, can another unit pick up her teddy bear?
If a German unit moves adjacent, do you flip the marker and it is revealed that this is an elite Cossack cross-dresser hero counter?
Ahhhh... such possibilities!

Mark, is there a way for us to turn in/off the "speech" element, like the one emanating from the German soldier in your first shot ? I am not too fond of these myself but some may enjoy it and having the capability to turn them on/off would please everybody

Mark, is there a scenario editor for user created games?

Mark I must say I am impressed with the screenshots and for the first time in a long time anxiously await a dam game to be released. lol You know that means a lot coming from this guy. haha If the AI is challenging I will broadcast this game around the internet at all my favorite spots.
I'll just tell them it's simular to "Squad Leader" hahahahahah
Note: What's with the little girl and the teddy bear? This is quite something new in the wargame dept.

When the Germans assault Kalach to capture the bridge crossing, they come across a refugee hiding in one of the houses. The girl is frightened and runs randomely from Germans and Soviets alike. If fire passes **through** her hex she must take a MC, just like any other unit. If she fails it, she dies. The Germans try to keep her alive, the Soviets don't care either way (in reality neither side would give a damn, but this scenario is part of the German campaign, so they are wearing the white hats). If the German leader enters her hex, she'll stay with him. I'll have an AVI loaded later that will show all this stuff.

Well, I need to resolve the AVI issue. Right now the 30 second AVIs that I'm capturing are about 225MB. Quite the download... too bad, because it shows a T-34 waxing a mortar team, and then a Soviet squad shaking the Germans advancing on the T-34 while their comrades advance on the skahen mortar team and eliminate it.

RE: PC version?
That is a huge file! Anyway you could make that available for down loading if you can't shrink the AVI file down?
Thanks,
Gary

Will we be able to make our own scenarios?
I certainly hope so cause I'm gonna get out all my Squad Leader Boards and scenario cards and do that right off the bat if it's possible; after playing a scenario or two.
And Mark I like the idea of the little girl and the teddybear thing. It's gives a different perspective to just a wargame. It brings some elements I haven't seen before, but, even if hypothetical it adds a new atmosphere to the scenario. Sort of an RPGlike wargame at the same time.

Agreed.
Already, in the boardgame, with strong accent put on SMC (heroes, leaders, medics, chaplains, etc), small actions and events, there is a bit of RPG. I'm glad to see it developped further in the PC game. This is refreshing. LnL is a different beast than a pure cold hearted board simulation.

RE: PC version?
Hi Guys,
Matrix is helping with the AVI size. David has a way to compress it. Now the onus is on me to provide him with a very cool raw file.
Yes, HoS strongly emphasizes the RPG aspects. There is, in fact, a bit of a love story in the Soviet campaign. Both German and Soviet campaigns are more than a string of scenarios. Both tell a story, both have main characters, and both have some branching missions (and the Soviets even have a sexy heroine), that players may--or may not-- see, depending on their choices. All this in a tactical game that is accessible, realistic, and fun.
Of course the campaign isn't all that is radically new about this game. There is also stuff that I would risk saying that no one has ever thought of putting in a turn-based game. At least no one outside of SquareSoft.
Best,
Mark

Thank you Mark and Matrix for setting up the AVI file ! This will be like watching a 30 second mini-demo of the game in action!
