Hi, The unit is supposed to get 4 days off in March. (somewhere between the 22nd and 27th) other then that I do not think we are allowed to leave the base. After those 4 days we actually deploy overseas.
I just learned today that I am only on loan to the 37th STB when I return I go back to the 148th. No clue yet what I am going to be doing but I'm certain to find out down in Texas since that is where they will train me for the deployment.

Gotta love the military. I don't think things have changed since the first military unit was organized.

PS...anyone have a clue as to what unit that was? (sorry about the hijack Mog, but I have to know!)

The 37 STB (BSTB actually) is the 37th Brigade Special Troops Battalion.  It's a new type of battalion in the inventory that has a variety of special (meaning low density) MOSs.  I can't remember all the company types at this early time [>:] but I do remember it includes a signal company.  Note that this is in addition to the brigade support battalion (BSB) formerly known as an FSB (Forward Support Battalion), which includes supply, maintenance and medical assets.

Hi, I've been moved again. Now I am with HHC 37th IBCT.
We have been issued new body armour and new ACU's.
So far I am "green" or "Go" at all stations.
Processing is over and now we start the real training cycle.

I might be the only person in my platoon without a laptop. I'm using a machine at MWR waiting for the football game to begin.

I'll post whenever I get time.

Hi, I wore sound suppressors for 3 days before the test and stayed in quiet places. It helped just enough.

For the past 14 years I have had reoccuring dreams of being back in the service. Even then I always knew it could not be so but somehow in the dream I became convinced and then would wake up to find it was not so. I am still waiting to wake up and find it is all another fake out. I won't believe it till I have my new military ID card in my furry dog like paws.

Yeah I still have them but it seems it is only when I am depressed which is not often. I was in the Army for 6 years total with 2 3 year stints 10 years appart.

Hi, I am not depressed over being here, in fact I'm worried people are going to think I am goofy because I'm always smiling. It has already been mentioned I am too happy.
We drew weapons today. My new M-4 is named "BABOO X"
see you around.

I'm assuming that name comes from "my sweet baboo".

Should we be worrying about someone who names his weapon "my sweet baboo"??

Especially a crotchety batchellor who was known for living in his sister's basement, spending all his time online or hanging out in bars... [:'(]

Oh wait, now that he's been issued a weapon he always has a smile on his face! [X(]

Hi,Yesterday was a very long, cold, wet, miserable day. Up at 0400 moved to zero range at 0600.Stood in rain till 1100. Zero'd Baboo X and moved to qual range. Fired my 40 rounds at 1300 (26/40 Marksman) and then stood in rain till 1700. Finally got back on truck and returned to barracks at 1900. Cleaned Baboo X till around 2100 and went to sleep. Today I had CQ from 0800 to 1200 and I return from 1800-2100. I'm going to do my laundry after I log off from here.

Ha! The boredom of garrison life.

Enjoy it.

I never did, but it seems sweet once you are in a more precarious situation.
