Rain

Our bombers continued to bomb the enemy airfield near Stalingrad, but this time with much less succes. The jetfighters concentrated on the northern front to destroy soviet fighter force, went into surprise fighterbomber missions against enemy airfield. The defending fighters were clearly beaten in the air, and the airfield attack destroyed more then 300 enemy planes. If the Luftwaffe finishes the reequipment to me262A's the soviet air force will be eliminated from the front. We continued to soften the enemy defence in the south from the air.

More Germans were killed during bombardments in the awful weather, which left them exposed to the shellfire as trenches cannot be built. Meanwhile, the Red Air Force was pulled back to the rear to rebuild after the sharp setbacks at the hands of the jets, which carry a large bomb load. The soldiers are dreading clear skies, knowing that the Luftwaffe will dominate the air and the Panthers will swarm them under on the ground.

As the rain continues to fall on the soldiers fighting in the mud, only minor probes were launched against the invaders stuck in the swampy terrain without entrenchments. Bucharest was hit by a small air raid, causing light oil damage.

Rain,rain,rain...

Slowly our proud panthers surrender to corrosion in this long rainny season The Luftwaffe turned it's attention again at the soviet troops this week. Some soviet fighter's tried to defend the comrades on the ground but were awarded with heroic death only. We have now all panzer troops on full strength and with best equipment. 1000+ panthers in the pool of the O.K.H. to restore losses. Hopefully this summer will see the capturing of Moscow, and the surrender of the aggresive bolsevhik state.

The people of the Soviet Union are celebrating the continuing rainfall across the country, leading the enemy invaders to be stuck for months now. We know that this weather will nto continue forever, but it may last long enough to turn out new tank and plane types to fight back with before Moscow falls.

Rain of course

General Rain is still forcing as to wait and watch the enemy dig in, and build up strength... No action on the ground, but detected soviet tank armies were bombed heavily by the Luftwaffe. Hopefully we can bomb this dangerous tank armies into crap, because the last thing we need is strong soviet tank armies ready to counterattack our panzers.

Minor skirmishes were fought along the front, hoping to disrupt the invader's preparations for attacking. Also, an airstrike hit the 11th Army airfields, causing some damage but at the cost of heavy bomber losses. Also, the weather finally cleared .

The great offense to capture the Heart of the evil bolschevik empire has began. More then 6000 panthers and nearly 1000 tiger's (300 king tigers) attacked with huge air support. The enemy defence were softened by several 500+ heavy bomber attacks. Soviet armies were defeated quite easily with this panzer and air concentration. O.K.H. still respects the enemy counterpunch so much that no deep penetration occured. Orel is completely encircled.2 armies inside the kessel were kindly asked to leave the red army and join the victorious Werhmacht saving the soviet people from bolschevism Or at least surrender. The soviet army commanders shoot our messengers so we guess that means nyet.

Zhukov, upon reports of an exposed enemy HQ and airfields, assisted comrade Stalin in organizing a number of counterstrokes against the invaders of our country. The 17th Army HQ was overrun with the loss of more than 1000 planes, as it had no defensive forces protecting it from our attack. Most other attacks designed to free the surrounded forces and isolate the enemy panzers failed to succeed, but losses were heavy on both sides. Also, the rain returned, turning the countryside to swampland again. Also, an air raid hit the 11th Army airfields again, damaging a number of planes on the ground but at heavy loss in the air.

Rain again...

The infantry korps commander which should have defended the 17th army and moved away from the defendeable terrain was sacked. (But infantrymen and Luftwaffe pilots whisper about the commander being completely innocent in surprising harmony with each other in this question, and that the high command is much worse then the enemy...) One of the encircled army was forced to surrender, but the Orel garrison held against our attacks.

The unit launched on the raid against enemy airfields was pulled back due to pressure from all sides. Another HQ was placed next to this raiding group, but it appeared to not have any planes so it was not attacked. Meanwhile, the Orel garrison withdrew from the city to the southeast, expecting to have to fight its way out with support from the outside, but the path was clear. The skies cleared again at the end of the week.

Orel was captured, and 3 soviet armies forced to surrender (including the one running away from Orel). Several other soviet armies were forced to retreat, so the infantry protecting the western flank of the panzers going for moscow, now defend behind a river. The Luftwaffe revenged the pilots dying in soviet captivity, as over 1000 soviet planes were destroyed in airfield attacks.

The Red Air Force struck back against the weakened Luftwaffe, wearing them down in air combat and airfield attacks. Eventually, the ground forces driving north were without air cover and were hit by numerous air attacks resulting in heavy losses. However, the follow on ground attacks failed with heavy losses.

The destruction of soviet air force continued, as more then 1300 soviet planes were destroyed. The panzers got adjecent to Tula and forced a soviet shock army to surrender. The panzers advanced more cautiously as the Luftwaffe concentrated on airfield attacks instead of groun support.

Comrade Stalin ordered the weary Red Army forces to the east of the German salient reaching to Tula to move over to a massive counterattack, with 3 tank armies and supporting rifle units moving against the infantry defending the flank. These forces broke cleanly through, shattering one infantry corps and reaching an advancing rifle force from the west that found a weak spot on that side of the bulge. The result was heavy losses to the Germans, and the isolation of 6 panzer corps and 1 infantry corps at the tip of the salient. As further benefit, rain begain to fall again, turning the land to mud and making the German's relief job more difficult, although the encircling forces had to leave open holes in their lines.

Rain

The panzer's reversed the situation as they turned back and encircled 2 tank armies and one rifle army. The soviet supply line was only held with one weak rifle army which was bombed by the entire Luftwaffe. Luckily one supplied panzer korps was stationed ajecent to this army... So the encirclement was complete and the army retreated into the kessel and was destroyed. Sadly we could not releive the infantry korps which is behind soviet lines. Hopefully it can held out to be rescued next week.

A heavy attack from the east freed one cutoff tank army, but the other relief attack from the west failed miserably. However, the rain continued again, leading to relative calm expected this next week also. Stalin, due to the almost constant rain this spring, ordered tests to be made on the weather and it was found that next weeks weather was consistently rain, with 9 out of 10 tries staying rain.

Guys

I look at these threads every 2-3 weeks or so.
Dramatic developments in the east or what?. The snap shots in my head are start of the war with limmited sovet advances. Then big combats in the Dnepr bend and now fighting 'round Orel. You both are putting everything you've got into this conflict. The initial german advantage seems to be waining as the sovs get stronger.
Can the Axis reach Moscow? (not if RB can help it)

A true battle of the giants.

Hi!

Well the germans have supriority in everything (if you count in quality) but infantry. Rick plays better then me I think and he already destroyed 3 full strength panzer korpses in my one year long offense, but I still attack with 7 full strength panzer korpses and have 2000+ panthers in the pool. So I would say germans have the upper hand clearly, but I'm running out of time. Of course this game favors the germans heavily with no allies (wirhack) and equipment coming a year earlier. The germans only have to survive the first rounds (which I did with luck: rain).
