So how have the winter been for you guys?

Here it has been an easy winter so far. Not much snow. And the snow that came melted away rather quickly. And not much ice on the ground to worry about either. And, it feels like that the sun has been showing itself more as well. A couple of storms has passed by, but they hit my area lightly.

Our winter has been a little rough. A few inches of snow but the ice has been tough. Right now I have to finish up chipping up the 2" of ice on the side walk....GP

It’s been mixed, some really cold days and some not so cold up to last week, then our winter started we got 16 inches over three days, yesterday was very cold we will see what today brings.

Good morning!

Be careful what you wish for - we had several winters in a row with snow level well below average followed by summers with rainfall well below average. Last harvest was showing signs of drought, reduced crop yields and blowing topsoil. Brings back memories of the "dirty thirties" when the breadbaskets of the USA and Canada were almost turned into deserts.

This year we are getting lots of snow - and celebrating! If it melts slowly and doesn't cause massive flooding, all is good.

The strange part is the up and down temperatures. Several times we have had temperatures in the -30C range then a rise within a day to around 0C for a day, followed by a plunge back to the -20 to -30C range. Crazy strong winds during the transitions. Whiteouts and snowdrifts! I am glad to be retired so I can choose when I go out!

We've actually had a real taste of winter, here in NC. December was quite warm and we had a record high temp on New Year's Day of 78F. Then, winter arrived. January was comfortably below average and we had some snow and ice 3 weekends in a row. They are calling for a bit of freezing rain overnight tonight, then a warm up to more seasonable temperatures in the mid 50's F.

Temperatures here were around 0 degrees Centigrade for most of the December and January.

Now in February it is 10-15 degrees Centigrade already...

Snow I have seen just a few snowflakes!

Sounds wonderful.

Dreaming of traveling to Croatia someday. But since I want to visit more than just a tourist spot I suspect it will never be. Taking the car down through Europe and then stay in the area for a couple of weeks would be ideal. I think.
