RE: 1943!
Sorry again for thelack of updates. Really tough days at work. Yesterday i entered at office at 8:15 am and exited at 10:30 pm...[:o]
May 12-16 1943
Some bad news: Mili is about to fall. I tried to ambush his bombing runs and managed to sink a CA and 2 or 3 DDs with Tanaka's cruiser division. Tanaka got surprised first by a fletcher division, but managed to sink 2 DDs with no losses, then got suprised again by a strong enemy cruiser group (3 CAs and 1 CL) but got back and managed to sink a CA and damaging 2 more for no losses.
However the allies simply have too much...the following day another fresh cruiser squadron bombed the place inflicting 500 casualities. The air space over mili is his and we cannot really fight back. Once Mili falls, the Marshalls are doomed.
Some good news: at Paoshan we managed to drop the enemy forts down to 1, suffering light losses. I don't understand how he can keep it supplied, but he seems to be able to do so without problems, even keeping a 100 fighters CAP over it...
We are trying to gain the air superiority...but the last air battle costed us 100 planes for 20 of his own...[:-].
He also seems to be bringing in reinforcements (an indian brigade!?), which seems weird cause he's already overstacked by 5/6,000 troops... seems like a strange move to me!
The allies are also bombing our Dimamphur line... need to hold on there untill Paoshan falls... and here i am risking cause if Paoshan holds, i may be forced to abbandon the whole Dimampur line...
Erik also moved some B25s to Wenchow and attacked Shangai, singking some precious AKs and AMCs... need to place some CAP over there... too few planes for me
Hope to be able to be more consistent with my upgrades next week

Just finished to watch the Australian Open final...what a match!

Yesterday we did our best to gain the air superiority over Paoshan and it seems we succeed in it. Many Hellcats and Corsairs caught on the ground and no more planes in the air today. We inflicted some good damage on the air base and i hope it is closed for business now. Mitikyna is bombed, heavily, by hordes of 4Es, while more 4Es keep on attacking Mandalay AF at night, causing not less than 20 planes destroyed on the ground[X(]
Mili is bombed again. No hopes of holding like i did at Nauru.
Port Moresby is bombed and a sub of mine spots a HUGE invasion TF east of Brisbane....Lae or PM are my best guesses.
My CVs are moving towards Darwin, dribling many allied subs chasing them.
In 14 days the KI-84a will enter into production, along with the KI-61c...cant wait for the former. Finally i will have a decent sweeper in decent numbers (4 full Sentais will be able to be equipped with it).

The allies are pushing hard on the Dimampur line. Hundreds of bombers are pounding my positions, while we are trying to fall back in good order. My time is running up. Can't hold there for long without risking of being flanked. Paoshan needs to be ours before Ledo gets into their bloody hands.
Two more attacks at Paoshan. 1-2 and the second, finally, 1-1 with forts down to 0. Should be ours within the week. The fields there are closed so he cannot send anymore supplies or reinforcements. But can't wait. Need to keep on pushing until it falls, then we will begin the long march in the jungle from Kalemyo towards Burma...
Horn Island is bombed heavily and so is Port Moresby. Invasion TFs spotted near Mylne Bay.
Another Unryu CV arrives...with B6N2...ARGH! those won't be in production until late 43...[8|]
His attention is clearly moving towards Horn Island and the Carpentaria Gulf... let's see if my strategy is correct-
Fischtafen and Umboi Island will soon be targeted...pretty sure about that.

RE: 1943!
Nicola,
I'm looking forward to seeing how well Horn Island defenders do behind level 6 forts. If I was Allies, I would have Portland Roads built up for my bombers and fighters along with multiple AE/AKEs to reload my old slow BBs that would be bombarding the base almost daily. The question is if those forts will keep the troops disruption levels below 40 and they remain combat effective. Good luck, sir!! [;)]

The Key, imho, is being able to keep the fighting force safe from bombings. The only way this can be done seems to pack the base with support units (AA, CD guns, Engineers and base forces). The naval bombardments will fire at them as long as they are active.
I have the following forces at Horn Island:
1 ID (31st)
1 Ind. Inf.Rgt
2 Naval guard units
1 CD unit
3 base forces (with some DP guns)
3 AA units
2 Ind Cbt Regiments
6 forts
And lots of supplies.
Obviously he will be able to get on it sooner or later, but the goal here is to make him waste time and energies if he wants to advance this way

Isn´t Horn a clear hex? Bad mojo when the 4Es come to visit. No need for BBs.
Forts help. But without them, you'll get blasted clean off the island just with bombers. I've done it.
In my experience forts doesn´t help that much in clear hexes while they can make a tremendous difference in x2 and x3 terrain. At least that is my experience. [:)]

RE: 1943!
Horn Island is an atoll. not sure what's the defender multiplier for an atoll... somebody knows?
Horn has 6 forts. Seems to help so far. The 40 B17s that every day maul it aren't able to close the fields.
Anyway, the idea behind my strategy is not to hold forever, just for the longest possible time.
In my opinion, there are places the allies simply need to capture if they want to advance following a vector. Horn Island and Mereuake are two of those places for the NE Australian vector.
The more time he spends there, the better.
21-24 May, 1943
The allies conquer Sichlar (NW of Imphal)...we managed to get out of it with our 2nd Division just in time, retreating to Imphal.
Allied tanks are flanking the Dimampur line, moving on the yellow road that leads to Lashio. Can't stop them. need to evacuate.
Another failed attack at Paoshan (1-3)...but the base remains close and the supplies must be running out (very few flak lately). In 2 days we'll resume the attack.
We managed to get a 1-1 on the road from Kweyang to Chungking... this could be a very interesting situation. If I can close on Chungking....
Horn Island is daily bombed.
Port Moresby is conquered by an American Corp (41st Division there). Couldn't oppose it now that they control the whole air space over NG.
Finshtafen is bombed... soon we'll have the face another front here. His next target will surely be Lae.
KB is assembling at Darwin.
Getting ready to start to move to Wenchow.
Many many allied subs patrolling in the DEI. I'm doing my best trying to change the routes of my convoys and have decided to make ONLY huge convoys heavily escorted. Assembling an escorting force of 3 slow CVEs with 70 Kates on ASW

Another failed attack south of Chungking. After the 1-1 of yesterday, today we achieved a tiny 1-2...
Getting ready for the final attack on Paoshan.
Akyab is bombed by 4Es.
Mili is naval and air bombed.
Another sub lost south of PM... my subs are dieying like flies [:o]
The long waited 150K supplies convoy finally reached Northern Oz, feeding Darwin and Port Hedland.
The pressure on SWPAC and SOPAC is rising. Now the allied line goes from PM to Buna to Shortland... Rabaul is on the line of fire now.

RE: 1943!
KI-84a enters in production today. Producing 340 for the moment. Then, as soon as we fill the 4 sentais able to equip them, we'll shift some factories to the KI-84r RnD line and keep a production of 150 (no need to produce more than that given that only few sentais can be equipped).
KI-43 IV accelerated to 11/43
KI-61c will enter into production tomorrow.
Sonia KI-51b will arrive by the first of june 43. Feels strange to look forward the crappy KI-51b... but it's the only way to unlock a series of 1E bomber groups and convert them to FB and then to Fighters... the beauty of PDU OFF[:D]

what will your IJNAF fighter force look like once the KI84 and KI61 sentais are filled up, roughly in terms of volume per plane type ?

RE: 1943!
well the KI-84a will tip the balance back a bit from the Hellcats. He has some good stuff coming too but the KI-84a is rarely going to be outclassed plus 4 sentais will allow you to have them at a couple of hotspots. This game is so much better with PDU off. I'm really enjoying this

Supplies are at 3.34M
Not enough
Well, depending upon how much you front loaded your plane research it might not be that bad.
What is your trend increase per day, on average?

Should have 160 KI-84a and something like 200 between KI-61 b and c... when the "D" version willbe available, i'll have 80 more
