You know, mate, for a guy who has foresworn parenthood as often as you have, I almost get the idea that you're protesting too much. If you're not going to have kids that's fine-but telling us all the things that are standing in the way of you having kids in detail? Face it, vato, you're doomed-you'll be a dad before you know it. Mark my words. [:)]

I havent foresworn it, I'm terrified of it. There is a very definite distinction between the two.

You're right. So, do you prefer 'papa', 'daddy' or some Russian derivation for your young 'un?

Why would I call my children papa? [&:]

Lazy Saturday tithe.

For some maybe [8D]... we just got home from market place and with almost 3 kg (6+ lbs) of premium squid in two superb specimens... [:)]

What do you do with so much squid? [X(]

Eat it - of course! [:)]

We cleaned it and froze it for two nice family meals (one time fried squid and one time filled squid - those two are quite common and loved way of preparing squids here)...

Yes, I have a private licence, but on sunny weekends, I look up and see, and hear, some gnarly air maneuvers. So I go to P'cola and ask, and they are local clubs flying out of a local NOLF. So I go there and ask the question and find they are x-planes or sport planes. I get a ride, and find out all I know about flying is doo doo. So take a sport cert from the Navy guys.

Must admit I conjured with Lt Cmdr Ian Kibler, and you all would believe how many Ensigns and JGs signed up to help me out. God love you, Elf. So now I'm flying out of NOLFs and learning how. There are 2 seater sport planes, but there's only room for the pilot and a nice dog.

I got tired of hanging out on the ground with a bunch of Navy Ensigns; they were cool and gave me lots of treats, but I wanted to be with Dad and I might have been a bit pissy, as it were.

You can’t believe how cool it was. There I was, sitting in the right seat, and Dad was talking to me the whole time. Ok, on my back, legs up, looking for some love, I’m an airborne dog.

Why, you smear it all over your body, of course. Or use it to wash the dog. What do you think you'd do with 6 pounds of squid, vato loco?

On the way home today, I witnessed a beautiful woman in the car next to me at a stop light...

...picking her nose and eating her boogers while talking on her cell phone.

I didn't have my phone with me, but if I did, there would be another new video posted on YouTube tonight.

I've not one, single, solitary clue jefe. Not being much a fan of seafood in the best of times, 6 lbs of any sea creature sounds like a lot to me.

Pray tell, how does the dog react?

Okay here is my project... for the last month or so I've been teaching myself how to do AE aircraft art, and after about ten attempts and a lot of sweat and tears I've completed my first aircraft.

Now it's not that good and not up to Dixie's standard, but it's a start. So here we are; Its a LB-30 from the 98th Bombing Group, which actually served in Europe I think. Also one of my new years resolutions is to talk with Dixie for half and hour, and get all the proper technics and tips from him.

Image

It's good mate, easily as good as my first attempts. The biggest improvement you can make will be reducing the jagged edges.

What did you use to make it? I use paint.NET, it's got a lot of nice features and is free. The most important thing you can do is learn how to use layers. With those you can do all sorts of nifty stuff. I can sort out a helpful guide if you want, I'm not saying it's the best way to do things but it's my way.

Thanks Dixie, it's a start and maybe I have a wee bit of promise, also I'm hooked on these little pictures now. So I would appreciate any help you can give me thanks mate, and I promise you'll have a attentive student. I think you already have my E-mail address, but if you don't I'll PM it to you.

I've done some work on ship/siggy images, there is a lot more skill/work in the aircraft art. I seem to spend half the time on preparing the template, by having to strip an aircraft profile down to a line drawing.

I use Paint.Net also, and do layer my work, also I am learning about shading. But as you can see I've haven't learned to soften the edges yet. Its just the size you see, I used to do airline profiles for a airline game I played, but the scale was much bigger as you can see below.

I found the trick with jagged edges is to work with the images in large size (as you have with the image above) and only shrink it down to the final size when you are ready to paste it down over the background layer.

Cheers,
Reg.

Early Sunday morning tithe here...Boy unit Mk. 1.0 woke us up at 6am with the 6 dreaded words in the parental lexicon: "Dad, I don't feel so good."

For you lot with wee ones-how's this flu season been for you? This is probably our worst nationally since 2009's pandemic.

Squids here are quite common and delicious meal enjoyed by almost everyone!

We usually eat them fried (i.e. "Fried Calamari")

Example from one Croatian cooking site:

or stuffed (i.e. "Stuffed Calamari" - and yes the filling is made from squid itself amongst other ingridents [:D])

When I first ate squid as a kid I was violently ill. I've never been able to eat it since then.
