While I don´t like uninterceptable Kamikazes (I don´t like CAP shields either though) it´s a bit of a joke that a kami hit only does 2 sys damage...

Even if a Zeke isn´t a big plane, with a bomb carried and the impact energy from the plane crashing in an unarmored US CV someone might think it could do at least more damage than automatically occurs from cruising around for two or three days...

Possibly FOW... mostly likely a die roll to simulate something like a kamikaze bouncing off the deck and into the sea, or clipping the superstructure only. Lots of Kamikaze "hits" did only a bit of damage... but good solid hits (of course) could be devastating.

Of course, there is also a third possibility: the game engine messing up... [8|]

I thought about FOW too first. Two kami hits that didn´t occur would really be bad luck for Faber... [;)]

2 reasons.

1.) Incredibly skillful play by me.

2.) We started 42A campaign.

3 more points then T.

1.) Yes Saratoga is the original.

2.) If you're saying yes but how can they last this long it must be my incredible play.

3.) Stop reducing my hit ratio. It was almost 20[:@]

11th September 1944

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

Another active day in the Pacific War.

CV's Hancock and Bennington located an enemy TK Convoy 180 miles ENE of Brunei. A series of attacks throughout the day hammered the Seaplane Cruiser Nisshin (12 bombs) and CL Kinu which was sunk when a torpedo blew off her bow. MSW Wa 107 also went down and DD Yukikaze took a 1000lb bomb. Unfortunately, the vital AO/TK's were not hit but I will pursue the TF further to the east tomorrrow.

All troops are aboard at Singkawang and they will set sail for Kuching tomorrow escorted by a CVE TF.

Furthe intense air battles took place over Soerabaja (2 losses vs 21 enemy), Batavia (6 losses vs 15 enemy) and Singapore (5 losses vs 30 enemy). In all locations enemy Zeke's, Nick's, Tony's, Franks, Randy's, George's, Jack's and Tojo's took to the skies.

-----------------------

In the Central Pacific PC Toshi Maru 3 was sunk by SB2C's at Woleai as CV Lexington TF moves back to Saipan.

The first attack on Iwo Jima took place today. It was a success:

Day Air attack on Iwo Jima , at 63,53

Japanese aircraft
J2M Jack x 23
Ki-84-Ia Frank x 36

Allied aircraft
P-38J Lightning x 66
F-5C Lightning x 9
B-29 Superfortress x 170

Japanese aircraft losses
J2M Jack: 16 destroyed
Ki-84-Ia Frank: 14 destroyed, 8 damaged
A6M5c Zeke: 23 destroyed
A6M5 Zeke: 5 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-38J Lightning: 14 destroyed, 6 damaged
B-29 Superfortress: 1 destroyed, 21 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
435 casualties reported
Guns lost 11

Airbase hits 54
Airbase supply hits 17
Runway hits 363

We follow up tomorrow.

-----------------------------

SS Halibut missed PC PC-27 with 4 torpedoes 60 miles east of Iwo Jima.

Air sightings = 28
Air attacks = 6

58 to 14 kill ratio and a closed airfield... I'd say that qualifies as a success...

More than 58 T. The Zekes were destroyed on the ground (must be Kami's). 60 x Zeke were destroyed on the ground today.

For the day 60 Allies lost vs 188 Japanese.

So an overall Kill Ratio of 3-to-1... Sounds about right...
