Ship upgrades and TOE upgrades mostly. Having to manage certain Devices to get an Indian division recombined so I have held off on setting many units which would want to grab that pool. I think that's easier than doing those TOE upgrades now and managing all the upgrade and replacement settings.

kind of losses are needed to put Japan in the red.

Army Guns kind of impossible unless Japan really screws up, but AFVs generally speaking not much, once you can hit their vehicle production.

It should be a goal of any strategic level bombing campaign, since the Type 3 Medium Tank is such a great weapon for the IJA.

INVADED
Paoshan, Urumchi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• No carrier sightings. KB appears to be just west of the Marshall Islands.

• I don't know if it happens the same day the pool reaches the needed number or the day after, so in either two or three days the USA squad upgrades will begin and there are 4 Rgts to upgrade before re-embarkation can begin. That's about 7 days until loading day: February 8th if no screw-ups. 49 hexes to Maloelap & Wotje @ ~6 per day = 8 or 9 days is February 17th, and Roi-Namur is another day away.

The carrier DB squadrons withdraw/expand on March 1st, so there would not be time to assault 3 islands then get back to Pearl Harbor, especially considering naval battles.

Also on March 1st are the upgrades of many AP to APA, a change which can significantly aid these invasions. There are also a number of old BB upgrades overdue (delayed due to current operations), some of which will take ships out operation for most of a year. BB's South Dakota and Indiana can upgrade this month for 30 and 21 days. Some CA's can make overdue upgrades, and many DD's can upgrade this month.

I'm going to send the old BB's to the West Coast for their upgrades but keep the rest of the fleet at sea in case we can tease some sort of engagement. The strategic situation in CBI is getting dangerous where a roaming KB could help land strong forces freed up from CHina in India to destroy infrastructure, so keeping the KB tied up in the central Pacific is useful.

I'm going to land all the troops but keep the amphibious convoys at sea and send them to join the fleet again so they can be spotted. The real operation will commence again after the APA upgrades in March. I will also prepare additional regiments for Wotje and Roi-Namur, especially with fewer old BB's available for bombardment.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Enemy sub activity near Pearl Harbor, Lahaina.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• The fleet (minus old BB TF's) will move 6 hexes NW tomorrow.

Pacific
• Enemy sub activity near Suva.

• All convoys report no contacts.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• No enemy sub activity detected.

Have the replay but go the wrong turn file so a delay before proceeding.

The position 2 hexes NE of Tsuyung was broken and retreated across the river. Looks like there is a rear-guard to delay the Empire for another day.

INVADED
Paoshan, Urumchi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• No carrier sightings. KB is west of the Marshall Islands.

• USA squads have begun upgrading, so the answer is "the same day the pool reaches adequate level".

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Enemy sub activity near Johnston Island.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• The fleet is not spotted but the carriers' aircraft spotted several subs, so the fleet is spotted as well as KB. The fleet will move 6 hexes west both to advance and to avoid submarine intercepts. The decoy convoys are on their way but behind, they will reach Johnston Island in 2 days.

Pacific
• Enemy sub activity near Baker Island.

• All convoys report no contacts.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Enemy sub activity near Perth.

• All convoys report no contacts.

Philippines

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya

China
• No ground assaults today.

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• Enemy sub activity near Karachi.

• There is movement by both sides along the Burma frontier but one longstanding move by the Empire appears to have been a ruse, or simply aborted.

• Tomorrow we will have a number of heavier tanks in-hex west of Katha that would surely smash another Imperial armored assault.
