Bombers are flying from Rennel and Nevea escorted by Corsairs from Rennel bombing the Lunga airstrip into oblivion. This will continue.
Borner has kept a very large airforce there and if I´m lucky he left it there, or at least a lot of it. My recon shows now 72% airfield damage meaning if he did leave a lot of planes there they won´t be able to leave. So I will keep bombing him and put the airfield totally out of service, trapping his planes there and destroy them.
As well he has had a
very large garrison there and that´s a lot of mouths to feed. Already P39´s are attacking barges at Lunga.
I will send a submarine special forces recon force ashore and see what he has going on there as far as numbers.
So what we are likely to see in the coming month is Lunga being bombed everyday. The airfield obliterated and all the planes there destroyed. The garrison reduced to starvation rations. Then an initial invasion to the north and south of lunga to cut off any retreat route, (as I dropped men off north of Irau before making my final assault on Irau)
then, a Lunga proper invasion and a battle of annialation against the Japanese garrison.
That´s my plans. I don´t know what Borners plans are.
In the Allied victory at Rennel I figure borner lost around 20,000 men and at Irau I figure around 30,000. So that´s 50,000ísh Japanese ground troops off the table for awhile. My ground casualties were around 10,000 but I couldn´t use complete and total overwelming numbers because the auto victory sites, especially those in Austraila have to be heavily garrisoned for awhile yet. As well at Irau he was deeply dug in and that made the fight even longer.
