Keep in mind, I am referring to the Panther II, not the monster I think you are talking about.

By all means, you can add them to the unit request list when it becomes available.

As the OOB's have been expanded to 1953, there are a number of new units that will be available in the org editor. Take a moment to look through them and see what's new, what's available.

For the 1.04 UPDATE, I intend on tackling the British, French and Japanese Order of Battles.

Jason Petho

PzVII tank - PzKwVII was an animal that was in the mind only. Panther II was not listed as the VII.

While I am at it I will do some research on N. Tesla. He was in America and I hear there are original plans for the Tesla death ray. Bring on the PzKwVII! [:'(] [>:]

Humble apologies. I figured it was a shorted version of Panzerkampfwagen V II.

No need to apologize, my friend. [:)]
It was more a general language issue. PzKw V was the Panther. Version II was listed as PzKwV Panther II or Ausf II.
The Romans really knew how to use the numerals, eh? [;)]

I'll still research my Tesla death ray! [8|]

The only Nation that seriously reseached the possibility a death Ray where the Japanese. I hope we can get one with patch 108, I hope. There are also report that they developed a mini Atomic Bomb and they exploxed or tested it of the coast of Korea. I doubt that!

But since the German never where able to come close to developing one maybe we can recreate a senerio where the Japanese explode a Atomic in San Francisco with Patch 108 and see what happen then. LoL

I was kidding. I hate Atomic Bomb. No winner nor Losers just death.

Actually, I just finished reading a book on Tesla that stated he did make a "small version" of his death ray in America. But, it was never developed as an official project of the US military or himself.
And, it was not a true death ray. It was more a wave energy projector that would have penetrated and disabled planes, ships, and tanks. At least that was the idea in Tesla's mind.

I'm sure Tesla would have shared your feelings about the A bomb. Rock on!

Ummmm, actually the Germans were quite developed in their atomic research. Most of their heavy water facilities were located in Norway. It wasnt the research that prevented us from getting the bomb first, it was Allied bombing missions, OSS and MI 6 operations in destroying the facilities that could produce a working prototype, not to mention the brueaucratic BS the Nazi war industry was famous for.

TANKS: I am confused, are we getting an PzKwV II (which I thought we already had) or are we getting a PzKw VII? Not that I get a vote, but I like big tanks, especially big tanks not ironically named after rodents.

Looking forward to all of this stuff, whatever it maybe and whenever it may come out.

Thanks to all concerned.

LATIN AMERICA: to Temple. I did mention a mod I am doing on guerrilla wars in Latin America (finally found a decent oob for Somoza's la Guardia Nacional in Nicaragua!!!). Naturally, everything is highly speculative at this point, but I rather imagined my mod as an upgrade to Divided Ground if and when that is ever developed. However, as I do not own any copyrights, 'tis not in the least my decision what would happen to such a mod. I doubt seriously anyone would consider dumping the oob in with the WWII stuff.

I beg to differ on that point - Norway had a heavy water industry - that was wrecked early on but sufficient stocks were available. The Germans did build a very primitive reactor and the Nobel Laureate in Theoretical Physics Heilemann was universally believed to be the one that would reach the bomb first. However he never made the connection to enriched Uranium and the germans simply didnt have a plane large enough to carry his proposed bomb any distancedue to the weight ofhe unenriched uranium. The project was never properly funded despite his direct ties to Himmler.

and while they did not have a plane large enough, with the possible exception of the Condor, the 4 engine long range bomber used by the Kriegsmarine, plan were on the drawing board for a atomic warhead to be fitted to the nose of the V 3, making it the worlds first ICBM. The Manhatten project didnt eclipse the nazi research ubtil late 43, when Oppenheimer figured out what was needed to acheive critical mass, from there is was a short walk to actual production, with a small side trip to moral ambiguity.

In my humble opinion, Von Braun could have had the V3 or perhaps it was the V4 I am thinking about, ready to go by 46, maybe 47. In any event, timetables were calculated and plans were drawn accordingly. Again, I maintain, it was the confusing brueaucratic BS between conflicting depts, that severely curtailed any effective production of an atomic weapon. Political infighting didnt help the situation either.

Borst50 I hate to bust your bubble but the reality is the Germans where never got near of completing a Atomic Bomb. Their best scientist had all their calculation wrong. The Allies found that out after the war. You see they got rid of some their best scientist before the war with there racist policies that did them more harm than good. You see even if they had all the right ingridients they where way of in how to use them in making a Bomb.

They did have terrific scientist and technologist and they did develope the first working fighter Jet and cruise missles with the V1 and a short range large missle like the V2. But developing a Atomic Bomb was way out of Germanies capability at the time.

lol...well...we can agree to disagree. Some wise man once said..."History is the lie most commonly agreed upon."...and after having said that, I respect your opinion, is just that I disagree. No harm, no foul. [;)]

I wasnt trying to start a flame here....just voicing my opinion.

I once played "Hearts of Iron" and, as Germany, devoted all my ressources to developing the atomic bomb, only to discover that when I'd gotten 98 percent of the way there, I was prohibited from going further.  I lacked something.  Maybe it was uranium.  I wasn't familiar enough with the game to figure out how to get it.  Needless to say, I was a little ticked that I'd spent all that time and all those ressources only to come up with a dry well.

You're cool with me...I do not have a problem. [:)]

Incidently...you did bring up an intersting point. You stated that the Allies didnt find out until after the war how advanced the German research was along...and I am paraphrasing here, so please forgive any discrepancies. But I am wondering, in those last final days of the war...just how many exactly of those top secret doucments were shredded...kind of interesting to think about...just how much information was really lost. The truth is I dont think anyone really knows for sure. We can make educated guesses, but thats all they really are. Yes, we have testimony from surviving scientists, we have some documentation....what survived that is....and we have eyewhitness reports...But...and here is the big BUT...If Nazi research was anything like the Manhatten project, everything was compatmentalized. The left hand didnt know what the right hand was doing. Only a few key individuals had a glimmer of the total picture. The Russians got some and the rest defected to the West.

All I am saying is that according to what I have read over the last 36+ years, in bits and pieces, AND drawing my own logical conclusions thereof, I still maintain the Germans were actually ahead of the Allies until late 43, after that, it was all downhill. But still they kep pace, just a step behind. And again, it wasnt just one single factor, but several combined, that prevented the Germans from being the first Atomic power.

[:D][:D][:D] OK, I am done. lol...I wont bring this up again.

I do find it somewhat ironic that in a thread labelled "Patch 1.03 update", we can digress so far from the point!

Cheers!

Here's an opportunity to educate an uneducated and ugly American.  What's Victoria Day?  I know Queen Victoria reigned about 75 years.  Is that her birthday?

Victoria Day (French: Fête de la Reine) is a Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the last Monday before or on May 24 in honour of both Queen Victoria's birthday and the current reigning Canadian sovereign's birthday.
