That's got to hurt both the National Oil Reserve and the VP's for bases controlled. Nice play.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Yes, when SIGINT showed very little defenses, I felt like a door had been left open and I needed to "rush in" [:D]
Operation Malaysian Lightning
7/24/44: Operation Malaysian Lightning: Thanks to the VC2 Victory AK, troops landed in Kuala Lumpur arrived with supplies, and quickly fan out to gobble up territory. Americal Div takes Kuantan, 1st Marine Div takes Jitra, 33rd U.S. Inf Div takes Oosthaven, 254 Arm Bde takes Singapore over the 10th IJA division defending - the only base in the Malaya/Sumatra operation that has yet to be found defended. [8D]
Meanwhile resupply efforts are sent to Moratai, bombardment supplements continued operations on Guam and Kendari (66th IJA Div has been reborn tough, it just will not give up), IJN transports hit exiting Singapore - 2 MCS/APs sunk. Goonie birds based in Java are busy flying supplies to Sumatra and Singapore.

Nice work -- but an Armoured brigade overpowering a dug-in division? The electron gods were kind to you.
And are those Amercan LCU's now attached to the British 14th army? Well, Slim probably makes a better commander than MacArthur.[:D]

The IJA Division must have just arrived - no entrenchments and readiness of 9 [X(].
Marines under British command - MacArthur is no doubt upset, but he will just have to get over it. [:'(]

7/31/44 - Pagan and Marcus
7/31/44: CINCPAC declares Guam secure, as all but a few fanatic holdouts are wiped out - they will not surrender until 1972 ... 1st Marine Division takes Bangkok (undefended), the jarheads remark working for the Brits ain't all bad, Malaya has been a milk run so far ... Marcus Island attacked by U.S. Airborne Div, SIGINT inaccurate, it was actually heavily defended, despite bombardment and CV support, the beaches were a bloody disaster, after 4 days of fighting, the remenents of the division fight inland and take the base ... Invasion of Pagan Island goes smoother, taken with relatively low losses as CV and BB bombardment plus a multi-division attack roll over the defenders.

Needed more CAP -- I guess your exchange with the Japanese CV's weakened your defense. Nice BB exchange, though!

The battle of aircraft carriers
The first Japanese wave got through CAP successfuly and (despite heavy flak) scored one hit. I didn´t expect more. US/UK strike lost nearly half of bombers in fights with defending Reisens (if I remember correctly), but those remaining scored some hits. Then Japanese prepared second strike - 100 bombers and only handful of Reisens. They should stay on the ships instead. Only 3 bombers got through CAP. Second allied strike scored another hits. After that both fleets lost contact and headed home. Japanese commander felt satisfied, because he stopped allied TF and didn´t lost any ships. Of course, every CV was damaged and Akagi and one CVE burnt fiercely, but salvage operations went on well.

Then a disaster came.
Remaining Reisens had to land for refueling and rearming. Suddenly rumbling noise of aircraft engines fill the air. Americans are coming again! Absolutely unmolested, they could choose the best target. The first was burning CVE and they sank her quickly. Then they concentrated on Soryu. Only 1 or 2 hits before they had to come back to Marcus Island, but that was enough. Soryu stopped dead in the water and fire broke out. Despite heavy effort, she exploded later.
Even damaged Akagi didn´t escape her fate. Next turn, she was sunk by submarine.

Surface combats
It was clear defeat. My last BBs Yamato, Nagato and Kongo were crushed by Iowa and 2-3 South Dakota class BBs. Only Yamato was able to fight back, but Iowa class BB was better. And only Yamato survived.

There was one more surface combat. Or slaughter more likely. Another allied SCTF surprised CVL Mizuho with bunch of DDs near Tokyo bay. Mizuho fought well, but she was shoot to pieces literally. DDs was sunk too, naturally.

If I remember correctly, in this allied raid participated 4 carr. TFs and 3 SCTFs. Carr. TF attacked by Betties didn´t participate in the battle with carriers, it was simply the smallest one.
