Turn 97

Something I thought to be a flaw (Eric has told me that it is not), is wrecking my economy once more...

Turn 98

We have Paris controlled and no enemy there to wreck our economy.
Apart from that, a pretty standard turn, we take some Spanish lands, and the Spanish takes some of ours..
I am now hellbent on takign Ancona, I NEED the glory. Of course Spain has several independent divisions running around making supply lines an issue. My only counter is to place ALOT of depots, which again means that my economy pays the bill...

Turn 99

Well, the Spaniards take a few provinces in Southern France and wreck my supply line into Italy, and I advance further into Italy... If I can keep the army supplied, Ancona should fall next turn. Since this is a protectorate province, I will keep it no matter what happens (unless I lose the war and Spain retakes it that way). The British are proudly (yeah right... [8|]) fighting the Spanish in Africa (which translates into: Spain conquers Portugal and Britain takes N.Africa).
The Ottomans and the Austrians continue to exchange blows, and they are now talking in the pbem109 thread about a ceasefire.
However my MAIN concern is posted in the screenshot...

Thank you, but I fear the war with Spain is going to cost me the victory [:(]

Turn 100

Alot happens this turn, some good, some bad. Good news is that the Preussians do not issue a DoW.
Our Swedish "allies" are busy interupting trade between Britain and Myself. A wonder that the British accept this from their
allies, as it costs them 5 wine per turn.

The game is moving at a painfully slow pace these days, so I have not updated yet because there are no more turns played, I am just as curious as you about those Preussians [:D]

How is your province exchange going with Spain? That cavalry upgrade helping in your running those fellows down after combat?

Turn 101

More or less Status Quo. We take some Spanish territory in Italy, and Spain takes some of our provinces in southern France. But the good thing is that our economy is back on track, and we can increase our draft rate from 4 to 8.

Diplomatic talks are going on between the Ottomans and Austria, and the Ottomans and France.
Ottomans and Austria are about to sign a 2 year cease fire with Austria ceeding Transylvania, and the Ottomans will DoW Spain and land in Italy as well as attack in Africa.

Turn 102

Things are going somewhat different than what I expected. The British BEF has now taken Rome, and is marching SOUTH!?
And the Spanish are obviously trying to hunt down my 2nd Army and crush it, this leaves me no choice but to move my 1st Army south from Paris in an attempt to force Spain to move back out of Italy.
To and Forth all the time...
Still nothing from Preussia, and the Ottoman-Austrian cease fire is not signed this turn, nor does the Ottomans DoW Spain this turn.
My main fear is still located to the North-East. Preussia is the wild card in the deck. Will she side with Austria and Spain and DoW me?

Turn 103

(Somewhere 6 turns have been lost as this is really turn 109, 2 I know because the print screen did not take...Anyway I will keep the turn # running as they are).

A more zoomed out picture this time to show the mess that is the "front line" [8|]
The bad thing for me is that the Spanish can work a supply centre from Italy while I still have to supply my armies all the way from France. What the BEF is up to noone knows, I only know that it seems that the British really do not want the Spanish-French war to end...

The Ottoman-Austrian cease fire is signed, so if Austria is about to act, they will most likely do so soon. If Austria and Preussia issue a DoW I hope they do not ally with Spain as I will most likely have to surrender to Austria and Preussia immediately.
And The Ottomans also cancel their alliance with Spain, meaning more no up-to-date intel for me about Spanish army strength.

My 3rd "Army" is just moving south in an attempt to cut supply lines if the oppertunity arrives, it contains only one division.

Well it is not too difficult really.
IF the worst that can happen happens (as I expect it will tbh), I will be at war with Spain, Preussia and Austria.
If Preussia and Austria does NOT ally with Spain, I will immediately surrender to both of them as there is no way I can manage to fight three powers alone, espesially since Britain (my ally) is not really interested in ending the Spanish-French war, nor is Sweden (another of my allies) of any help, so I am alone.

GB probably wants a long war with Spain in order to get as many colonies as possible. Otherwise with the situation presented it wouldn't make any sense for them to not go for the throat with a landing in Portugal and a short march to the Spanish Capital, particularly if you were fighting in Italy with Spanish armies and taking away protectorates there.

Why does Prussia want to help gang up on France exactly? Without France to weaken Austria Prussia doesn't become the great unifier in Germany. I would think Prussia would want to go down the middle a bit more.

Actually Preussia does not have any options. Britain, Sweden and France all owns territories Preussia has stated that she wants, and since we are all allied, it makes sense for them to ally with Spain and Austria in an attempt to gain more land.

Turn 104

A bad turn for France...
We take a beating in Italy, and by beating I mean beating

I have decided that this is it, now I either do or die. We march on Madrid no matter what, the French-Spanish war will end in a few months, one war or another.

Turn 105

This turn I do not know what to think about.
I think it was a tactical victory for Spain, but a strategiv victory for France.

Spain remains in Italy attacking our 2nd Army once more, but our main army will reach Madrid next turn (movement orders this turn brings it into Madrid).
We lost ALOT of troops marching into Spain, THAT hurt...

Time to end this dance with Spain. You're bleeding each other to everyone else's benefit.
