It's OK. :D

The Japanese advance slows predictably as it is flanked to the North by tanks. A Bren LMG is destroyed somewhere up there.

In the middle, I take all the VHes, destroying a Bren LMG and ANZ airborne squad in the process.

To the South an ANZ Plt HQ is destroyed. One of my flame tanks got immobilized. Got to stop trading tanks... I know you got a bunch more up your sleeve in reserve...

The Japanese pride refuses to back down to anything, men, steel, explosive or otherwise. In grave consequence, they suffer
!36! casualties due to accurate 7.2 inch gun bombardment... OWWwwwWW!!!! ARGGgggHH!!!

But the advance must continue. It is ordered by the Emperor and must be fulfilled at ALL costs.

In trade, I kill around 2-4 ANZAC men and a DUKW. Not fair AT ALL! Grrrr

The counter attack in the north is moving along nicely, rate of attrition well in favor of the ANZAC.
Things are getting messy in the centre. A flametank is decrewed and some infantry gets shot at. Arty and airstrikes increase the canage and confusion.
In the south the ANZAC forces are making a stand. That immobilized tank is destroyed and a So-ki crew is sent running.

Japanese arty isn't very effective, except for a single 90mm round landing on a Sherman. And the crew only just got back in.

The advance continues. The Japanese brave artillery, tanks and all.

To the North a Sherman flame and a flanking DUKW is destroyed by assaults. :D

In the middle, an airborne squad is decimated. The Japanese continue to advance, though many refuse to move in fright.

To the south, a Rifle section, an ANZ Plt HQ, some crewmen and a Jeep are eaten up by the Japanese advance, many more enemy infantry are shot at and are falling back.

7.2s cause less casualties this turn through sheer dumb luck I think. (Less than 10.) :D

Lots of dead japanese this turn, few squads actually destroyed.
The incoming wave of flesh seems to be slowing somewhat. Even in the middle, the Japanese are faltering.
The air force does another flyby, but without bombs doesn't leave a big impression. Neither does the Japanese AA BTW :D

You insult the honor of the proud Triple-A crews??!?

Fly-by once again!!! They will destroy your beaufighters this time!!! (hopefully...) :D

This is one bloody turn... Here we go... (takes a deep breath)

To the north 2 of your M3 Lees are destroyed in trade for around 6-10 Japanese men.

In the middle a Staghound is destroyed along with a Sherman Flame and a Stuart, all assaulted by infantry, the Stuart flamed by engineers.

To the South, your rout continues, only your overwatching tanks keep my infantry in check (Uhhh also your devastating artillery..)
A Bren LMG, an ANZ rifle sec, and a crewmen are destroyed. :D

The ANZAC is making a stand in the south. The Japanese will never cross that ridge. Three flame tanks are put out of action, infantry is taking casualties.
Near the middle the fighting is getting chaotic. A Sherman flamer destroys an engineer squad, only to be immobilized by a mine moments later. Wonder what gave you the idea of using those things
Nearby another flamer is badly damaged and more infantry is taking casualties.
Up north the Japanese are putting up more resistance than expected, but it won't help. They're isolated from the main force, with no way out but retreat or death.

I'll give your triple AA something else to worry about in a couple of turns...

The intense action continues...

The Japanese is slowing down considerably, especially in the North, where the Japanese infantry finally found their match... the ANZ Engineers.

To the middle, the advance continues. An ANZ Airborne squad, a Bren LMG squad, a DUKW and a Sherman Flame are destroyed by my infantry.

Things are also tough going south where a couple of tanks and Staghounds (w/50 cal) are perched in nice overwatch positions. Smoke rounds arrive at the end of the turn just in time... a few squads are caught in the open though... a ANZ rifle squad is dispersed. Several others fall back once more.

Interesting note... there's a wrecked vehicle behind my lines... a Jeep I think, destroyed by my patrolling So-Ki. The crew are decimated. Uh-oh...infiltrators?? Flanking elements? How did they get this far?

I had it planned since the beginning, to offensive mine my way to you VHes... Unfortunately you seem to have flanked me

I will take that hill!!!!! :p :D ;)

Finally managed to actually destroy some squads, most of them in the north. No kills by the engineers, though, seems they perform better in a defensive role.
In the south the ANZAC is holding, massed MG fire slowing down the Japanese infantry.
Reinforcements are moving in to bolster the line in the middle, I hope they can prevent a breakthrough.

BTW that jeep got whacked by the same So-ki that got the crew, at least two turns ago :D
It just drove over there. Just like that platoon of, uh, nevermind ;)

The Japanese up north, stranded and bereft of tanks, except for a single, lone So-Ki, is ordered to hold positions and halt their advance. They must hold the flank until the troops from the middle and the south can get to them. A Bren LMG and a DUKW are destroyed up North.

To the middle, the advance continues with heavy infantry action and a dead Vickers HMG and ANZ airborne squad.

A DUKW is hit by a 50mm mortar south and is destroyed. The rest of the infantry roll over the hill, ignoring casualties from the overwatched tanks and MGs, using smoke when necessary to create cover.

Your infantry up north doesn't stand a chance. With the last So-ki destroyed and two Sherman flamers moving in, the ANZAC forces drive back the Japanese. 'Bout half a platoon's worth killed this turn.
Reinforcements are slowly arriving in the middle of the map, hopefully on time to plug the gaps in the line. 7.2inchers should buy them a couple of minutes. ;)
The situation in the south is worsening. Japanese have slowed to a crawl, but they're still advancing.

In every one of my battles there are always heroes... to be awarded for their exemplary action in the battlefield. For this battle the awards go to my forces in the North which have withstood wave after wave of armor and infantry and who are even now, still trying to advance, even when knowing that they are trapped on 3 sides. The only way to go is either forward-against the enemy or backward, retreat. With another "BANZAIII!!!!!!", the Japanese infantry surge towards another Lee MarkII and destroys it.

To the middle, a slow advance is taking place. A few ANZAC squads are pushed back. A Vickers HMG squad is destroyed.

To the south, the action heats up as the Japanese infantry rush towards the high hill containing the ANZAC tanks, Staghounds and infantry. Flankers to the north encounter ANZAC riflemen (reinforcements??) and a skirmish occurs, resulting in a few casualties for both sides.

That little hill to the extreme south suffered this turn. A DUKW is de-crewed by infantry mortar. A Vickers HMG squad who has caused so much misery to the Japanese is also destroyed, along with a scout team.

A few 50mm mortar rounds are fired at the Lee MkIIs overwatching the hill. A few hit the bottom but I don't know if I did any damage.

Sorry mate, but it's been the same bloody wave from the start.
And you're surrounded on four sides by now. No doubt that 'patroling' So-ki will come and take a look soon.
No worries, there's never enough tinnies to go around at a barby:D

The fighting's intense in the middle. Just north of the VHs some infantry gets isolated and badly shot up. It's quiet further south, a big fire obscuring the view.
Far south the situation is getting desperate. A paramphib platoon launches a counter attack on the Japanese flank, but fails miserably. Hopefully the artillery will bail them out...
