AFter the A6M3a ... the only reason I continue to research the A6M line is for the armored version .... otherwise, just not that much reason. They are all just flavors of VP's for Hellcats. [;)]

Definitely work to the A6M5c, if not the A6M8 (Pax, obvert?). At your R&D pace you should get them quickly. Then switch to the A7M Sam. At that point you might be close to or at the easier repair point for Sam R&D repair.

June 1st, 1942
Economy:
I just turned my engine production off temporarily as my stockpiles have risen dramatically in the past month:
Mitsubishi Ha-32 548 (Still producing at the moment)
Mitsubishi Ha-33 639 (Production halted)
Nakajima Ha-34 412 (Still producing + I expanded a factory by 30 more)
Nakajima Ha-35 570 (Still producing to keep up with engines used in R&D)
Nakajima Ha-5 209 (Production halted and probably never being resumed)
My R&D Efforts on the A6M5 have moved it to 7/42 where it has stopped. I have converted all repaired Factories over to the A6M5c model and they are pounding 18% on that every day. I have 1 R&D Factory still on the A6M5 base model just so it will repair up fully then it will be converted to the A6M5c as well. At 20% a day it won't take long to get the A6M5c into production (1 month per 5 days (2.5 turns)). My IIc Tojo R&D is moving along nicely too (although not as fast) and making 10% a day.
Currently the above planes are the only ones I'm R&Ding as the rest are so far out as to be not considered yet. Once I get in late 42, early 43 I will be setting up R&D for them -- or once I have the current R&D targets.
My HI stockpile is still not climbing like I want, but with me turning off some engine production it should start to increase more.
I am also thinking of turning off some Naval Ship Production as I am gaining about 75 Naval points a day and am accelerating about everything I can. This change is from the Yamato being finished and the Musashi being halted.
Burma:
Lashio has fallen and my armor units are trying to beat up on the troops from there. I have also located a hidden unit along the trail to the SE of Taung Gyi. Looks like they start there and Rob hasn't moved him. I have 3 small armor units there trying to persuade them to surrender.
I have grown tired of airlifting supplies into Akyab as very few make it up along the trail and have landed a TF there. The TF is offloading the 27th JAAF AF BN and around 8k supplies. I have already transfered a fighter unit to Akyab to dissuade the RAF from bombing me anymore.I am also loading the 17th Indpt Guard Regiment onto ships at Rangoon and will be dropping them off at Akyab over the next couple turns. With fighters there I can risk ships there now to move men and supplies - much faster than land movement.
Malaya:
Singapore is growing low on supplies again as I move troops out of there to Sumatra and Burma. I have a couple small Amphib TFs moving men out of Singapore into Palembang and small convoys are hauling oil / resources back from Palembang. I also have a small TK moving fuel from Medan to Georgetown - which will flow down to Singapore. I also have a small (1250 ton) TK moving oil from Bengkalis to Singapore.
Several allied subs are active in the area, with 1 in the Strait of Malacca, one SW of Singapore and one NE of Palembang. The subs are not moving much and my ASW TFs and planes are keeping tabs on them. The KXV near palembang was just attacked again and 3 hits reported. So maybe I actually damaged it this time.
Sumatra:
Sabang is mine and I left a small Indpt Engineer Unit there to build up the base, while the Imperial Guards Division is chasing the survivors down the west coast of Sumatra. I landed a small combat unit at Tandjoengbalai and its making its way to Sibolga to capture the base. I also have a unit moving north from Palembang to capture Djambi and the oil fields there.
Java:
I have captured Merak using barges from Oosthaven and with KB providing air support I have landed units at Kalidjati and taken it. I have a unit rushing inland to Bandoeng to cut the rail so all the troops at Batavia are trapped. Once the rails are blocked, I will hammer the airfields / fighters at Batavia and then land troops at Merak and take the base.
Borneo:
Borneo is completely mine except for the SW corner - Bandjermasin and Sampit. Those will fall but have to wait until Java is subdued or I will lose more ships trying to invade them.
Balikpapan, Samarinda and Tarakin are all producing fuel / oil and the Tankers are flowing. All oil is heading home along with some fuel. The bulk of the fuel is going to Davao or Babeldaob for use in the DEI.
Miri is slowly repairing the oil fields and is up to 213 fields producing. I am trying to keep a constant flow of supplies into here until the oil is all repaired. Oil and Fuel from Miri and Brunei is being hauled to Cam Ranh Bay and from there it moves somewhere - not really sure. Not to concerned as I'm running tanker fleets out of Singapore and some from Hong Kong when the fuel gets to high.
Philippines:
The philippines have been conquered except for Cebu - which is under attack now. I have single ship CS convoys hauling resources from the islands to Manila and larger convoys leaving Manila for the home islands every so ofter. Combat units are slowly being moved out of Manila for use in the DEI.
DEI:
I have occupied the island of Ceram and have fighters at Ambon. The 36th JNAF AF Unit is at Boela building fighter strips and a 9 plane detachment of Zeros is awaiting deployment there. I have also take Babo and the 3rd JNAF AF UNit is there building fighter strips as well with another 9 plane detachment of Zeros waiting to deploy there. Between Boela and Babo they produce 450 oil a day so its worth giving them some air protecting until I can neutralize Darwin. Small tankers (1250 ton) will be used to haul the oil from these 2 bases back to Sorong and then larger tankers will haul it to babeldaob and then home.
North Pacific:
The 41st Naval Guard unit has just taken Amchitka Island and is reloading on its transports for drop off at Attu Island. Then they will take Atka Island and then possibly Umnak.
I have the 9th ID sitting at Etorofo with 100% prep for Dutch Harbor - this unit will be my initial landing force. I also have the 57th ID (fresh from Kwangtung) prepping for Dutch Harbor as it makes its way into the Northern Theater via boats. When the 57th ID arrives I will have a total of 25k in Amphib landing ability - about 1.5 divisions worth. I believe I have some AMC in Yoko which I will send north. I would like to drop both divisions on Dutch Harbor at once with heavy BB support and the baby KB to stop interference from the West Coast. In all I have 7 BBs in the north including the Yamato which will blast a hole in the landing zone. I have 3 AKEs there which will move to Adak to resupply the BBs so I can keep constant pressure on the allied troops while my troops land. I even have my sole LSD involved in the invasion - which I believe is supposed to add a bonus to all other ships unloading in the same TF correct ?
Central Pacific:
Wake and Marcus Islands both have an ACM and a 150-size minefield added to their defenses. Engineers are at both locations building forts mainly and then will build a size 2 AF on Marcus.
China:
I have taken Kiuchuan, Ansi and Lanchow in Northern China. I have a bunch of armor sittng at Lanchow waiting for some ground troops to take Sining and Kungchang. I have 2 Indpt Regiments marching up the road to Hami. And once that falls, they will march to Urumchi and capture the oil fields there.
Loyang just fell last turn with 24 chinese units surrendering there (63k troops). I am cleaning up that area, then I will shift the bulk of my forces into central china to take Changsha. Once Changsha is mine, the chinese rail is clear and all mine.
Wenchow still stands despite my best efforts. With stacking limits I just cant get enough men there (and supplied) to make a good attack. I am shifting 2 divisions from the North down here to help me break them. I will move them in and shock attack the next turn to lower forts and hopefully take the base. My attacks are depleting the defenders and I am moving more Sallies within range to keep up the bombings. Despite the free supply they generate they can have much supply left. I am dumping supply into Shanghai in an atempt to keep my troops at Wenchow supplied.
Navy:
The CVE Unyo just arrived and is sitting in Nagasaki awaiting its air groups to upgrade and enlarge - it came with claudes ??? Then it will probably join the baby KB up in the North. CVs Junyo and Hiyo are sitting in Nagoya harbor training their air crews - not sure where to send them - may use them are replacement CVs for the KB as KB CVs are available for upgrades starting in June.
CVs Unryu, Amagi and Katsuragi are all accelerated and should arrive within 12-15 months - so mid 43. They should be useful then - at least for a while. CVEs Kaiyo and Shinyo are also accelerated and both should arrive in Dec 42. I have every CL accelerated that I can, along with all DDs. Subs are coming as they come - nothing great there.
As usual I am accelerating all Mine and Pat ships as I can. I also have 4 large tankers being accelerated.
General Consensus:
Rob seems to be waking from his slumber and I have noticed a few air attacks and more ship movements including a viscious little battle we had at Ambon. I had taken the base and was finishing offloading supplies. The 4 APs there were guarded by a large surface TF of 2 BBs, 4 CAs and I think 4 DDs. Rob sent 2 TFs from Australia to say hi. The first allied TF consisted of mostly cruisers and a few DDs - this TF tangled with my escort TF and other than the CA Kinugasa taking a little damage my TF wasn't hurt. But I did very little damage in return - no ships sunk on either side. But, then Rob's second TF comes in led by the damn POW and my surface TF just let it sail right by and they sunk all 4 APs. I was very mad. Not a good showing - especially when I need every AP I can get right now.
Oh well - Rob seems more active now, spy subs along the west coast have spotted several TFs heading SW - most likely carrying troops and materials bound for OZ or somewhere there abouts. I have sent a bunch of subs towards Rangiora to find and persecute these TFs. My spy subs are staying put and keeping the intel flowing.

Aircraft R&D Update:
A6M5c Zero is now pounding out 20% a day and is at 7/44 currently. I expect to start building the A6M5c Zeros around the end of September 42 (roughly 3 months away). I will have the Helen IIa (normal R&D) then as well. The IIc Tojo is slower as I don't have enough Ha-34 engines for the R&D bonus yet (plus I only have half the number of factories working on it). Currently the IIc Tojo makes 5% a day soon to be doubled as my Ha-34 engine stockpile is almost at 500.
I have changed one of the 3 Ha-60 engine factories over to produce Ha-34s as both the Helen and Tojo use it and I will be needing a lot of them to replace my Oscars and Sallies.
I converted a Lilly factory over to IIa Tojo and am building it up (but not producing anything) so I can quickly convert it into producing IIc Tojos when the time comes. I will be doing the same for the A6M5c Zero and Helen with older unused factories.
Burma:
Burma is all mine now, with the last Allied units at Akyab destroyed. Surprisingly they did not attempt to retreat north, but just surrendered or died in the field at Akyab.
Looks like Rob is beating a hasty retreat towards Coz Bazar with the remaining troops in the area. I am moving to take Cox's with roughy 2 Division worth of troops.
Malaya:
Singapore is back over 60k supplies as a couple convoys arrive and unload - trading supplies for resources for the trip back home.
KB is currently resting a turn here and then Shokaku and Zuikaku will start their refits with the Junyo and Hiyo taking their place in the KB.
Sumatra:
Sumatra is all mine except for Padang - but I have a tank unit racing there. Some allies remain on the island, but as soon as Padang is captured I will finish off the isolated troops - they keep retreating to Padang so no point in attacking more until I have the last base.
Java:
The ports Merak and Kalidjati are mine and I have troops at Batavia and Bandoeng as well. The 2nd force of troops arrived at Kalidjati and are moving to help take Bandoeng and Cheribon. Then they will collapse and take Batavia. Once I have the large facilities at Batavia, more airpower can move in and I can bring more troops / supply in easier. Than I will begin the march to Soerbaja.
Borneo:
Nothing new here except I am pumping out fuel and oil from Balikpapan as fast as I can to lower the levels there. Got another 100k fuel and 50k oil to go. I am also building up Tarakan and Balikpapan to size 9 overall so no fuel will go to waste.
Miri has repaired up to 224 oil and I keep landing more supplies there until its at full capacity.
Philippines:
Cebu has fallen and the Philippines is all mine now. Single ship TFs are hauling resources from the islands to Manila as I begin the arduous task of moving all the troops out of the area to the front.
DEI:
Oil has begun to flow from Boela and Babo in small (1250 ton) tankers. Airfields there are almost at lvl 1 which will support some Zeros for CAP.
I have landed at Kendari but bad luck has followed and I haven't taken the base yet. I hope to take it this turn or I may need more troops. I have 2 AF BN waiting offshore to land and get the airfield in working order.
North Pacific:
The 41st Naval Guard unit is island hoping all over the Aleutians and have taken Amchitka, Attu and Atka Islands. Trying to decide whether to risk to take the islands near Dutch Harbor, but not sure what is there that would interfere. Haven't seen any air activity there yet but doesn't mean it isn't there.
China:
The northern base of Hami has fallen and I am pursueing the fleeing remnants north towards Urumchi and Wasu.
My troops are still pushing deeper into China smashing chinese units outside of bases as I can. The big push for Changsha is about to start and I will begin gathering troops for the assault. Luckily the stacking limit is 245k so I won't have any issues here like I do at Wenchow (40k stacking limit).
2 New divisions arrived at Wenchow along with another Rgt and I am attacking this turn. Supply went to crap as the reinforcements arrived but I hope to get a good attack in and break Wenchow open or I'm not sure what I will do. This little base has been the hardest thing to deal with since the game started....
Navy:
Zuikaku and Shokaku are starting their refits with their place being taken by Hiyo and Junyo in the KB - not an even trade, but should be fine if they all stick together.
DDs are undergoing refits at various shipyards throught the empire and ships are still be built at a rapid pace. I noticed with turning the APs back on that my TKs were not advancing their time frame, so I turned on some more merchant shipyards as well as turn some APs back off. I have also gone though the AKs and stopped a bunch of large ones from being built in 43 and later... I need TKs more than AKs at this point and need to push some through the pipeline.
The KB did a daring raid on Soerbaja port a couple turns ago and in return for a couple lost Vals, we sunk 2 HDMLs (no big deal), and 2 Dutch Subs (yeah !!). We damaged a 3rd Dutch sub but I think she survived. On the way back north, we hit Batavia's port and heavily damaged 2 ARDs.
General Consensus:
Rob is definately waking up - more TFs are moving and planes are starting to be active. My subs are spotting more ships and sinking them as well. In the past 2 weeks I have sunk the following ships with my subs: TK x1, xAKL x3, xAK x1.
I still have no idea where his CVs are but I think the British ones are staying around Ceylon but the US CVs could be anywhere - although I am thinking they are around OZ somewhere.
Those couple TFs I spotted off the west coast were spotted near Rangoira and mostly escaped my subs. I only picked off a single TK and missed a lot of TKs and AKs. My subs decided to be all samurai and attack DDs instead of merchants .... and DDs easily avoid sub torps all the time... waste of ammo. Wish we had a button to control which targets they go after. Had a sub refuse to engage a lone xAKL near OZ as well - what the heck ? Sink the damn thing... Oh well....that sub is marked for skipper replacement when they
return to port.

Oh well....that sub is marked for skipper replacement when they
return to port.

A6M5c is now at 4/44 - I will be going live with these on Oct 1st.
Ki-44-IIc Tojo is now at 12/43 - I will be going live with these on December 1st.
I am down to 50ish A6M2 Zeros, so I turned some production back on. I can't afford to run out of Zeros. I am getting close to turning on production of some Oscars and Sallies as well as my stockpiles are dropping by a couple everyday. I'm just trying to hold on for the next generation planes, but not sure I will be able to.
Burma:
I have troops at Cox's Bazar and have run into a bunch of allied troops. It is pretty even in troop size and I am preparing to drop some troops behind Cox's to cut off supplies. I am building a size 1 port at Akyab so I can unload faster there and am moving tanks up the trails to Cox to support my troops there.
Malaya:
Shokaku and Zuikaku should be finishing their refits this next turn and they will either stay around and help with Java or possibly go play up in India / Burma. Just not sure those 2 CVs can protect each other enough in Burma.
Sumatra:
Sumatra is all mine except for Padang - but I have a tank unit racing there. Some allies remain on the island, but as soon as Padang is captured I will finish off the isolated troops - they keep retreating to Padang so no point in attacking more until I have the last base.
Java:
My troops at Batavia are slowly wearing the defenders down and I hope to take the base in a turn or two. This will open up Java by giving me a good port and airfield there.
Borneo:
Fuel continues to be exported out of Tarakan and Brunei. I am moving Fuel and Oil from Miri and Balikpapan. Most of the fuel goes to Davao or Babeldoang. All of the oil goes home.
Philippines:
base building continues on Luzon and resources are flowing from the small islands to Manila and then to Japan.
DEI:
I am pulling oil out fo Babo and Boela daily and am just keeping up with the production. I have engaged more baby TKs to lower the stockpiles there. All oil is going to Sorong and then from there back to Japan. Both bases have a lvl 1 AF and zeros flying Cap.
Kendari has fallen and I am repairing the base up. They have a group of Nates flying Cap there but I hope to upgrade them soon.
North Pacific:
My invasion fleet was moving to Dutch Harbor when my scout TF (1 CA and 5 DDs) ran into a US TF of 6 DDs and 4 APs. In a quick little knife fight, both TFs retreated. I lost 1 DD, with another one in the yard for a week - minor damage on the rest of the TF. I sunk all 4 APs (carrying troops) and 1 US DD - lightly damaging the others. This was good and bad. The fight was a couple days before my landing and it provoked a response from the mainland. Recon spotted several TF heading for the aleutians. Fearing I would
get caught in the middle of my landing, I cancelled the invasion and everyone went home. I used the large BB force to bombard Dutch Harbor and then everyone fled back to Etorofu and Ominato.
I will wait a couple weeks and see how everything looks before making another attempt. I am also going to bring some real CVs with my this next try then I won't have to run. The baby KB just can't stand up to any real US Naval presence - not enough fighters or torpedoes to deal with enemy CVs or capital ships.
Its a good thing I pulled back as just last turn a Devastator overflew one of my subs near Dutch Harbor and those are CV aircraft so at least 1 US CV is in the area. Knowing Rob I'm betting at least 2 are there - 1 CV by itself is not very effective. This reinforces my idea of needing fleet CVs for the Dutch Harbor invasion. besides I can lure his CVs into the KB when I take Dutch Harbor... hmmm.. will need some planning.
China:
My northern troops are marching on Urumchi and should arrive in a turn or two. They are pushing the shattered remains of 2 chinese units before them.
Wenchow - can I borrow an atomic bomb ? This place is still resisting. I know they get like 60 supplies a turn, but that can't be enough to supply the 40k troops he has there along with my attacks. My last attack lowered the forts to level 2 but decimated my engeering units who retreated back to recover. Maybe by the end of the year I will take this damn base.
Navy:
The KB is at port in Manila in preparation to for the upcoming operations in northern Australia. I will be landing roughly 2 divisions at Darwin supported mostly by air - I am worried about the damages from CD guns, and will stack the invasion fleet with more xAKs than APs to minimize loses. This operations will include the occupation of Dili and the eventual invasion of Koepang. In all, 3 divisions will be used - 2 for Darwin (plus extras) and 1 for Timor(plus extras).
Once the Darwin operation is secure, KB will sail for Port Hedland and smash the enemy TFs at anchor there. Then KB will work her way back towards Darwin, visiting each port in turn along the way. Recon shows most of these ports have some ships in them and they will be easy kills - I might even bag something worthwhile.
Most of my DDs have completed their refits, with some Cruisers still undergoing refits. Once the Darwin operation is complete, the KB will undergo refits.
General Consensus:
I am still finding small units all over the place - lots of AA and base construction units. I am using small xAKLs to move these around to where I think I may need them. Most AA is going to Burma where I will not be able to provide enough Fighter groups to defend the wide area. All paratroopers are also going to Burma for the next big push there.
Construction units are going to oil bases to build up to level 9+ to avoid fuel spoilage and several are working hard on Davao to enlarge the base into my DEI HQ.
In China Rob moved roughly 2k AS of troops from Ichang to Hankow - made 1 attack and is now retreating. Not sure what he is up to other than possibly just messing with me. I'm tempted to follow his troops and smash them, but since I moved the bulk here I may as well move over to Changsha and take that - that at least is of immediate use -- its the last chinese base on the rail.

Can you just keep Naval bombardments running from Shanghai? At the least, bombard just before launching an attack to up their disruption.

I thought about that but my BBs are busy elsewhere and don't believe anything else will make enough impact. I may send the BBs from the North Pacific over for a week or so since they are on extended leave until the KB is free.

A6M5c is now at 12/43 and the Ki-44-IIc Tojo is now at 10/43.
I have built out some A6M2s and Vals as my stockpiles have dwindled. Back up to 70ish A6M2s and Vals are still building.
Burma:
My troops in Burma have stopped at Cox's Bazar as Rob has around 1k AS there. He is bombarding me daily but not causing any damage.
I have troops securing my supply line back to Akyab and am continuously using 1 xAKL TFs to move supplies from Rangoon to Akyab.
Once I get the shipping free, I will be bringing more troops from Singapore into Burma.
Malaya:
Shokaku and Zuikaku have finished their refits and have been sent south on a secret mission, along with a pair of BBs and 10 or so DDs for escort.
Java:
Batavia has fallen !! I have some DMS enroute to clear the mines and more units waiting to land on Java and push south.
DEI:
The KB has escorted my landing force to Dili and I have taken the base. I have zeros operating there and will be following the initial landings with reinforcements from Manila.
The KB moves south toward Darwin to support the invasion.
North Pacific:
Nothing is going on here as I am waiting for the KB to return from the SW Pacific and operatons around OZ. Figure it will be a couple weeks before the KB is available to support the Dutch Harbor invasion.
China:
Northern China is mine, with my troops now at Wasu. They are waiting a couple turns to build up supplies and replacements before attacking.
Wenchow - I moved 7 BBs from the North Pacific to support the attack here. My divisions (and supporting engineers) were set to Shock Attack and the BBs were set to bombard before the attack - this should have netted me a nice new chinese base, but the Navy decided to screw the Army and never showed. The army shock attacked and got mauled badly - I now have 3 divisons with the combat effectiveness of 1 combined. I have pulled back most of the troops and am injecting supplies into the area as fast as I an to replace losses.
Navy:
KB just covered the successful landing at Dili on Timor and is moving south within range of Darwin. I will be assigning all bombers to hit the airfield and half the zeros as sweep / escort with the rest providing CAP - small percentage will rest.
A Surface TF of 2 BBs, 4 CA and 6 DDs is accompanying the 2 Amphib TFs carrying two complete divisions. I am using all xAPs so the troops should offload fairly quickly for me... Need to unload quick as I believe Darwin has plenty of 6" CD guns waiting for me.
KB 2 - Shokaku and Zuikaku - left Singapore a couple days ago and will be moving NW of Port Hedland (roughly 15 hexes away). This force will hit the 'supposed' TFs around Port Hedland and attempt to catch anything fleeing this way from the Darwin area. Previous recon reports mentioned at least 1 BB near Port Hedland. Current recon shows lots of ships in port at Port Hedland - hoping to catch something good fleeing west when KB shows herself this turn.
General Consensus:
Everything is going decent. Resources and Oil are moving back to Japan (as well as some fuel) and small combatants (DDs and CLs) are undergoing refits. My Hi is steadily rising about 2-3k per turn (2 days) and my engine pools are holding steady despite heavy R&D on the Ha-35 engine. I have Jills and Judys slowly repairing up for R&D on later models and in roughly 6 weeks I get a better Helen (IIa) and I am R&Ding the IIb Helen - which I will be using for 43 and later until I get the next line (Peggy ? Have to look at my notes for which one is after the Helen). I plan on building a lot of Helen IIbs and replacing all Sallies with them. Then Sallies will replace all the old single engine bombers (and Lilys) in china and such. This will increase my air power across the board.
I am running out of Tanks as I just got a new medium tank model and units have been updating to it - plus several new tank units have arrived. I increased vehicle production to 200 per day (400 per turn) and will see if thats enough. Armament stockpile is over 100k and climbing.

Navy:
KB moved into range of Darwin this turn and unleashed what the defenders must have thought was hell. For two days planes hammered the airfields at Darwin scoring dozens of hits on the field - reports state the airfield is all but closed. No enemy fighters were in the air, and unfortunately no planes were killed on the field leading me to believe not much was at the airfields. Amphib ships and escorts are sitting near KB only 5 hexes away from Darwin - 7 hexes by naval travel. Amphib transports have been provided a couple CAs each and are ordered to land. KB will bomb the port in support of the landing next turn. The BBs (and DDs escorts) will move to Darwin with the transports to provide local sea support and protection.
CarDiv 3 (I think its 3) consisting of Shokaku and Zuikaku moved into easy movement range of Port Hedland and launched two air attacks -- WHAT !!! Nothing should have been in the area, but just south of the Air TF was a huge and I mean huge TF of Tankers moving north away from Oz. Repeated air attacks against this monster TK TF sinks 12 TKs (all british) and damages another dozen or so. There must have been 20+ TKs in this fleet. Unfortunately they all seem empty of fuel so they must have just dumped their load in OZ and I caught them moving back towards India.
Despite sinking a ton of TKs this has revealed my second Air TF and they are ordered to close on Port Hedland and clear the sea lanes of any enemy shipping. Unfortunately attacking the TKs has also nearly depleated my stores of torpedoes, so if I do find any Capital ships my chances of sinking them are now about nil -- oh well I can still damage them and put them into the yard for a while.
Subs managed to hit some allied ships at Rangiora, sinking a DD and TK with torpedoes. They also surfaced and sunk TK Hagood with a combination of torpedoes and deck guns.

Navy:
Darwin:
The CD guns at Darwin provided accurate and deadly fire in response to my landings. Multiple ships were hit in both landing TFs with the CA Aoba suffereing from a magazine hit and exploding offshore. Casualties also include the DD Sanae and xAPs Horai Maru and Hikana Maru.
KB bombed the port catching several ships there and sinking them. Other than sinking ships, the bombing of the port did little to nothing to disrupt the CD gun fire.
At the end of the turn both divisions were about half unloaded. Due to the amount of firepower from the CD guns I am ordering the ships to retreat and hope I have landed enough troops to take the base. I am leaving a cripple behind to continue to unload men and supplies (the xAP is at 99 sys and 99 fire - she won't last the next damage control check).
Port Hedland:
CarDiv 3 moved within range of Port Hedland and launched all bombers set on naval attack. A small TF was found at anchor at Port Hedland and was hit hard and sunk.
No enemy response in the area leads me to believe it it lightly defended and no enemy air has been seen.
Between the Darwin attack, Port Hedland attack and subs attacking again at Rangiora, we sunk 3 AMc, 1 AS, 1 ACM, 2 DD, and 8 TKs. Several TKs reported sunk were the same ones that we hit on the previously day.

Quick Update:
Navy:
Darwin:
The troops at Darwin attack and were repulsed. I should have stayed and continued to unload despite the heavy losses. Now I have half of 2 Divisions sitting on enemy land with little supplies
KB hammered ground troops in support of the attack but it wasn't enough - even the 2 BBs bombardment did not provide enough support.
I have redirected fleeing transports to take Babar and Saumlaki islands north of Darwin. Troops are being unloaded at Ambon and Dili while I decide what to do.
The 4th and 48th ID are very low on supplies and disruption is high. The good news is that the defenders only have about a BN of defender (around 50 AS), so if I can get supplies in I should be able to take the base.
I am ordering numerous xAKLs to load with supplies and kamikaze themselves against the CD guns to deliver supplies. If I time it right, they should move into port and unload during the night turn and not provoke CD gun fire. If this fails, fast transports will be used. I cannot adbandoned the attack yet.
Port Hedland:
My CVs left one group of Vals on Naval Attack and turned the rest loose on Port attack. Numerous ships were spotted and attacked, but only a lone CMc was actually sunk. I will stay in range (moving to avoid subs) for as long as I have bombs and air strength to do so -- not going to risk my CVs though.
The next turn my bombers were all sent against the port and got better success with the following allied ships reported sunk: 1 AS, 1 ML, 2 AG, 1 CMc, 1 AMc, 1 AVP and 1 DD. Numerous other ships were damaged.

Aircraft R&D Update:
A6M5c is now at 10/43 and the Ki-44-IIc Tojo is now at 9/43.
Resources and Oil/Fuel continue to flow from the bases either back to Japan or to staging locations throughout the empire. Tarakan, Balikpapan and Palmebang have been built up to size 9+ so fuel will no longer spoil there. The only oil base with any amount of fuel or oil stockpiled now is Palembang, but I have 30ish Tankes / Oilers sitting there and Singapore loading as fast as I can.
Port Units from Japan are being shipped in to increase the amount of loading I can do per day.
1943 is only 4 months away and I know Rob is planning on unleashing all of his subs then. I am training a bunch of ASW pilots, but don't remember how to get them trained on NavL - can someone refresh me ?
Economic Stats:
HI: 88,381 (roughly 2500 per turn stockpiled)
ARM: 112,365
Veh: 1151
NS: 8073
MS: 7
Burma:
Rob put a group of Warhawks on LRCAP this turn and totally caught my bombers unescorted - 50+ bombers were shot down with 28 pilots killed and 25 wounded. I totally got caught and punished.
So I was checking my backwater bases and found the Guards Tank Division still sitting on rail cars in Bangkok. Apparently I moved it there who knows how long ago and its been sitting there since. I quickly ordered it to Burma. Those tanks will mean a lot in my Burma push.
Java:
Troops are massing at Bandoeng and will break the defense there, opening up central Java. I have basically 3 ID now on Java and they are begining to move south.
North Pacific:
Everything here is fairly calm except for the handful of US subs spotted around my bases in the Aleutians. I am sending a bombardment TF to Dutch to say hi just to keep him honest. They are leaving from Japan so it will be a couple turns until it arrives.
South West Pacific:
Betty pilotes stationed at Noumea have been complaining about the lack of action since they arrived - all they do is patrol endless tracks of ocean... until today. A small TF of half a dozen ships was spotted 150ish miles west of Norfold island and an attack was launched. Half of the bragging pilots got lost on the way and never attacked, but the other half did. 1 PG and 1 xAK was sunk and another 2 xAK were hit. Spotters reported enemy troops in the water, so looks like we hit a troop convoy. Nearby subs have been
vectored in to see what they can get. Hopefully next turn the Betties will fly again and finish them off.
I don't think rob thought I had LR Bombers there, let alone torpedoes for them. That or he completely forgot about it
Either way its more allied ships on the bottom of the ocean for me.
China:
The troops at Wasu are resting one more turn to regain strength and then will resume attacks next turn.
Nanyang has fallen and I am following the retreating troops north towards Sian.
I have around 2000 artillery pieces at Changsha but bombardments are doing very little. He must have dug some deep holes. I have 8 ID plus other units and am waiting 1 more turn for supplies to build up before I attack. This battle will be bloody and I'll lose a lot of men, but I need Changsha. I have 4100 AS and I figure he has 3k. I just wonder how large his forts are.
Navy:
Darwin:
Australian troops are bombarding my men at Darwin causing losses each day. KB hammered the ground troops some more and is pulling back to resupply bombs and fuel. I have a dozen or so xAKLs enroute with supplies - they won't get to Darwin for another turn or two - the troops just have to hold on -- I do have some Mavis air lifting in supplies, but it won't help much.
Port Hedland:
CarDiv 3 is still pounding away at the ships in port here sinking more this turn. I have 1 or 2 more turns left on station then need to retreat for resupply.
Ships sunk at Port Hedland: 3 DD, 1 AMc, 4 AM, 1 AVP, 2 YO, 1 DM, 1 ARD and 1 YSM (whatever that is).
General Consensus:
In the attack on OZ I have lost very few aircraft - which is very surprising - I thought he would fight more in the air, but perhaps the allies don't have the air strength yet ?

Port Units from Japan are being shipped in to increase the amount of loading I can do per day.
Will they help with the loading of liquids? 6.3.3.2.5 of manual says only troops and cargo.
RE: End of Western Hypocrisy - or Xargun (Japs) vs RRoberson (Allies) - No RRobs
I think Nav Supp helps with Fuel, but will not help with Oil or Resources.

I thought they help load / unload all cargo, Maybe I need some tests or does someone already know the answer ?

I just studied the manual and looks like you are correct - naval support only helps with Troops and Cargo - not with resources / oil / fuel. They may help with Resources - its a bit ambiguous - it lists Resources as its own but lumps them into total cargo of port limits. But they definately do not help with oil/fuel - which is really what I wanted

Use the Tracker "CS Cargo Planning" feature (it's in Industry) to look at Resource load values. I'm going to assume that the Tracker Crew has got it right, and notice that Naval Support does not factor into their load values. It is strictly Port Size + Resource centers at the base.
Edit: Oh, another thing about those port units. Notice that they combine into nice Special Base Forces, the TOEs for which have CD guns. It is my untested opinion that these are most worthwhile to place at bases you know your opponent will have to take. Such as Adak, Guam, Tinian, Saipan, Okinawa, Iwo Jima, etc. Or bases at which you strongly suspect your opponent will feel forced to conduct an amphibious landing - Davao, perhaps, or at least on Mindanao somewhere. I wouldn't risk them at places that could easily be bypassed - Truk, Rabaul, etc. Use your lesser portable CD units there.
For CD guns in general, I look at the special base forces and to a lesser extent the regular base forces. You can typically find some small number of DP guns in them. But IIRC, the Special Base Forces are the ones that boast 15cm guns instead of just 8cm.

Ok I will take a look tonight after work.

Yeah I found out about those - Mike pointed them out earlier. I combined the two I could - can't remember where i put them, but I agree - CD guns on the Japanese side are like gold - you don't get very many. I will track them down and make sure I put them somewhere good...
I have noticed the IJN base forces sometimes have CD guns, whereas the Army ones never seem to.
RE: End of Western Hypocrisy - or Xargun (Japs) vs RRoberson (Allies) - No RRobs
That's correct. You can look at the IJNAF units too, but I don't think any of those have CD guns.
RE: End of Western Hypocrisy - or Xargun (Japs) vs RRoberson (Allies) - No RRobs
You get two more combinations latter on, 3rd Special base force with 4 24cm guns in addition to the 14cm (combine 3rd Special CD unit with Yokosuka 6th SNLF) and Combined 8th SNLF with 14cm guns (combine Kure 6th and Yokosuka 7th SNLF). These and all other combinations/TOEs can be looked up in tracker's LCU database. Uncombined units will show inactive for location if you sort the column. Their TOE will show up empty but there is formation button in the bottom left corner which will give you future TOE. To check which units are components sort via the parent column.
