I like the idea. No issue with doing a bit of an addition to the US Forces.

Michael just asked 'how long' until this thing can be launched?

I THINK we can get the Treaty Mod done within a couple of weeks. Maybe one LONG day if I had no job, kids, cats, or wife around. NOT!

Combining the Treaty Mod and RA is a different story. I am choosing to call the Mod "Between the Storms" in honor of my Masters Thesis title. The issue here would not be one of creating new things but one of simply transferring the LCUs, Air Changes, and Fleet additions to the DB-C Treaty Mod. It would be a tedious line-by-line change with RA up on one screen and new Mod up on the other. Would need at least one more volunteer to do this. There is the real chance we could have Michael handle the LCUs, I would take the Fleet changes, and someone else would take the aircraft and air groups. As long as everyone worked in there own area then this work could be done at the same time since they are separate files within the Mod.

Make sense?

I'll try. I have done some tinkering with the editor with my own mod,  I won't say that I am good at it but I can finger it out.  Just might have to check my work for some inadvertent errors.

John, 5th paragraph down. In 41 the Marine CD units where authorized to have an 850 man inf battalion with them to be a fire and maneuver team on the islands.  It never happened due to the war starting but it would work pretty well with stacking limits.  No need to have additional Rgts or anything.  Interesting article.  I also like the idea of putting a plt of light tanks with them.

John, was thinking (Yea I know its not a good thing for me to do).  I don't know how the Evil side is but the Good guys could use some extra cash at the beginning of the game.  Why not give both sides a few hundred PPs in the bank?  Could change some things.

We had some very GOOD news today. JWE/Symon wrote Michael and I and said his revised Orders-of-Battle for New Zealand, the Phil, and Australia will be included in our Mods. COOL! A lot of work went into this I really wanted John to get a chance to roll it out for Allied players to enjoy.

Additionally, he thinks we can really shorten the creation of the Hybrid Mod by providing a bit of help by importing large blocks of Info for the LCUs, Fleet, and Aircraft. Think Michael and him are going to get that all that handled.

Throughout our time as Modders, John (Symon) has been a great supporter, cheerleader, and unquestioned supporter of what we on the RA, Perfect War, and Between the Storms Mods. THANKS John.

I am not adverse to increasing the Allied PPs. Makes a lot of sense to me...

One thing here that I have thought about is allowing those P-40s/Fighter Squadrons in the Philippines to be able to move OUT of there as things fall apart. Could be a Political Point thing...

Thats great about JWE's new OOB. I wonder what all they did? what happened to the Perfect War mod? This mod is close to it. Also those P 40s in the PI can be bought out with PPs.

Perfect War: FatR's time evaporated and he has been simply trying to keep his AAR match running. Good thoughts once time allows.

I guess adding a few hundred PP would make pulling those P-40s REAL ATTRACTIVE!

John's revised OOB has been a thread in this area of the Forum. Will look to bring it forward.

I almost always pull those P 40s.  That cash can make some speed bumps or change a lot of commanders.  I haven't seen FatR in a long time on here.

Question John.  How are the MVR changes going in your game?  What do you think about them?

How do you mean?

I know we adopted all of John's (Symon's) changes in aircraft MVR. Is that what you are asking?

Moving Forward

Post by John 3rd »

Time to get started with this project. Juan has made a very kind offer to handle the BC's development. I've taken him up on the offer and this is what he wrote:

Hi John,
As I replied in the thread - yes, as long as you dont install any artwork (as doing so will overwrite the stock aircraft art).

If you'd like I can redo the Amagi and Lexington for you, as those I've posted were essentially 'first generation' interpretation of the data using a simple excel sheet. Nowadays I have a couple of excel sheets I use plus SpringSharp to get certain numbers like resistances, etc. out, for better estimates of fuel economy etc.

All I would need for this would be details on exactly what form they will take (presumably historical stats,) and any modifications made to them (reboilering for Amagi in the 30s? Possible rebuilds for Lexington and how extensive?). This is because more extensive rebuilds like what was done to the US Standard BB's often also has hydrodynamic implications due to hullform changes etc, which in term impact speed, etc.

A simple suggestion would be to have Amagi as planned, with a limited Nagato-style upgrade (without the extra length) in the early/mid 30's. Wartime upgrades would be fairly straightforward and require no extra 'designs'.

Lexington could be completed to the 1919 design (the 1917 is rather flawed for many reasons). These could be modified slightly before the war (ala Colorado, etc.), and then be eligible for their a 'light' rebuild (along the lines of historical New Mexico, basically just more 5in/25s and slight bulges) or a more extensive one (along the lines of West Virginia, with the whole 5in/38 secondary change, more bulges, etc.).

Let me know what you decide, and good luck with the new mod, looking forward to it. Having a great time playing General Patton with RA 6.6 at the moment.

Regards,

Juan

This was the note I just mailed to Juan:

Hi Juan.

I let this email sit for a bit as I was doing stuff and thinking on the Mod. Would like to take you up on your offer to do an update on the two BC Classes. If you are willing, I would like you to imagine the following:

1. Each side would have done ‘improvements’ during the 30s. Think the Japanese would have done a thorough modernization like they did to the Kongo-Class. Think the Lexington’s would be updated but not as extensively.
2. Need an upgrade line for both classes throughout the war.

Let me know what you think. Michael is co-developer with me so he is included in this email. Could you please respond to both of us?

Thanks for everything!

Juan has provided Michael and I his early BC concepts including a light vs heavy rebuilding of the Lexington Class. The Amagi get rebuilt along the lines of the Kongo-Class. Both look PERDY!

I've done work on the CLVs today for all three/four nations. As stated the Charlotte is already done, the G.6 will be the Japanese wessel, and the modified Hawkins will form the Brit/Aussie CLV. All the CLVs will have the option for upgrades and possible conversion to a full CV. Should be a fun choice!

If you read this Juan could you Post a tidbit for the readers?

DOCUP and GP: Be prepared to take a look once we get this show on the road and complete. Need to people to look and see if there are issues that Michael and I miss.
