Operational Battlefront view, Turn 49, 24MAY42.

With the reduction of the pocket SE of Moscow, that has actually shortened up the front battle lines with AGC and AGS. Next operational plans are to bring the AGS line forward towards Stalingrad.

Hey Steve,
Do you have this off map deployment also?
Image
Steve has fixed that particular unit in the 1.6 version of the scenario. Cool.

AGN update -

Finnish troops Northeast of Leningrad are running into stronger Soviet forces. In some cases, Soviet troops are pressing in on the Finns. AGN Commanders are being tasked with pressing out from Leningrad and making contact with the Finnish troops under siege.

41st Pz Korp is tasked with the main point of effort to make contact, along with the 42nd Army Korp for support. 1st Army Korp is tasked with defending the right flank of the advance. Operations are expected to begin within the next week as forces jump off. An additional air wing group is being brought in to help with local air superiority efforts.

The terrain is tough and not best suited for mobile forces, so the tanks will be forced to stick to the roads for movement, Infantry divisions will cover the badlands area.

AGC / AGS update - Turn 50, 31MAY42

Seeing another opportunity to punch through the thin Soviet line south of Moscow, the Panzer divisions of both Army groups were put into play. An decent encirclement around Orel has been accomplished with multiple Soviet divisions within including; Bryansk Front HQ, Soviet Reserve Front HQ, and the 4th Shock Army HQ. Not seeing any resistance down the rail line, 19th Panzer Division rushed forward and took the town of Yelets with no defenders. The airfield was taken intact, and Luftwaffe elements(JG-54) are scheduled to arrive shortly to assist on this advance front. The Orel pocket will be slowly starved of supplies and eliminated in the weeks to come.

AGN update - Turn 53, 21JUN42

The operation to relieve the Finns is underway. Minor set back, 342nd Infantry Division pressed forward, and then was counter attacked and retreated away from friendly lines. Division was pushed into the swampy areas east of Leningrad. In this retreat, the division lost a substantial amount of equipment. Communications were just restored this week by advancing Panzer divisions. This unit will need to get back into friendly held territory for a good resupply and refit.

AGN update - Turn 54, 28JUN42

The operation to link up with the Finnish troops is progressing, slower than expected, but the Soviet forces have been pushed back 75-100km's and the link up is anticipated next week.

The 342nd Infantry division was rescued and moved to Leningrad for resupply.

Panzer divisions will be shifting left to make the link up on the single track road.

AGN update - Turn 55, 05JUL42

The operation to link up with the Finns is moving along nicely.

36th Motorized division pushed a soviet unit past the Finnish lines and destroyed it. 6th Panzer along with 87th and 93rd Infantry divisions are making an assault on a built up Soviet location along the road.

1st Panzer along with Infantry support is making an assault on the town of Tikhvin. Original plan was to surround the town, but the terrain to the east of town isn't completely ideal for mobile operations.

AGN update - Turn 50, 02AUG42

The operation to link up with the Finnish troops NW of Leningrad has been successful. Troops are setting up defensive lines in this area. No forward operations are expected due to the difficult terrain for the mobile forces. Soviet troops are moving up through the rough terrain, but are not fairing well when coming into contact with German troops.

German Mobile units are pulling back to decent terrain for support.

1st Panzer group supply unit.

Steve / Larry,

Got a question on this supply unit, the unit notes indicate that it has a supply radius of "4", so my question is what is the baseline supply amount that should be extending out from this supply unit?

Or am I using this unit incorrectly. I'm thinking that it is a "mobile" supply point to extend my supply net. Is that wrong?

Manual 8.3 - Supply Units: Increases the Supply Level in each supplied location that can trace a path no longer than the Supply Radius to
the Supply unit. Additionally, Supply units multiply supply distribution
to adjacent Cooperative units by 1.5. There is no effect on
Unsupplied locations.

So, units within 4 hexes get a slight boost, adjacent units get a 1.5 boost. The boosts are for what the unit receives, so the map may show that the net could provide '42', but due to all the factors involved it may get less, then that number is boosted. It is not a supply point.

Copy, thanks. It gets a boost within the 4 hex radius, just not report on the supply net numbers. I need to get the supply unit adjacent to other units for the 1.5 boost.

Thanks.

AGC / AGS update - Turn 59, 02AUG42

Panzer divisions have punched another hole in the Soviet line, and are encircling another large section of the Soviet defenses near Belgorod. Very open terrain for mobile forces to run amok.

I see that you've punched a pretty good hole in the Soviet lines and everything but I don't see the horde of troops awaiting the
signal to pour through the hole. I do the same thing and it's rather frustrating to be able to make a good hole and then not
have the resources to take advantage of it. I guess I need to start planning better Get everybody working on the same team.
I'm getting older and starting to lose my ability to hold the entire "battlefield awareness" in my head and I find that I have to
slow down and review before starting something risky. Which is often. My turns per hour has gone down in the last few years.
But even played slower and more deliberately it's still fun.
