Correct. People who would starve to death sans cannibalism can morally resort to cannibalism. Whatever moral agreements that may have been in place prior to those circumstances would become null and void for the duration of those circumstances. It isn't a close call which is worse. Dying for the sake of an absurd moral principle would be the act of an idiot. Survival regularly requires killing others in war or by security forces. This situation would not be fundamentally different.

Really? I would rather die than kill someone to eat them. If I were in a situation of starvation I think I would probably find a way to take my own life prematurely. Then everyone would be welcome to do what they wish with my body. But killing someone to eat them under any circumstance is just repugnant to me and not "moral". Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that "morality" is suspended or abrogated under such circumstances but it's hardly something I would call "moral". "Moral" is something I reserve for more noble behavior.

If you wish to commit suicide that's your privilege. But that has nothing to do with morality. And to impose such a moral imperative on others would be absurd.

Surely, it's no more absurd to ask others to refrain from killing others to engage in cannibalism than it is to encourage it. Is life that much worth clinging to that we ought to stoop to the worst behavior?

I say yes. If you're going to die at the hands of another, then fight back damn it. Being a passive victim is neither noble nor smart, it's pathetic. Only the victors make the rules and you can't win if you don't fight.

I don't know if fighting would have made any difference. They apparently died with smiles on their faces and the man is now a saint to be remembered for as long as there are history books with his name in them and to inspire us all (or at least some of us).

The world was in a war for the soul of mankind. His death served no purpose in that struggle other than perhaps to attract new adherents to his church/faith.

If every one of the tens of millions of Nazi victims that died passively instead fought back, even if they simply tried to tear out flesh with their teeth in a last ditch death fight, chances are they could have killed hundreds of thousands if not millions of Nazi's collectively.

Instead they stood by passively like sheep and died and left it to others to do the heavy lifting of freeing the world from evil. And the world came very close to losing because of the passivity of the masses.

There's an old saying in police work, mankind is made up of 98% sheep. The other 2% is split between sheep dogs and wolves, and most of them are wolves. The wolves prey on the sheep and the sheep dogs prey on the wolves.

It's the violent men (the ones willing to actually fight and bleed for a cause) in a society that determines what kind of society we ultimately have. We need more sheep dogs and a hell of a lot fewer sheep.

They are a small vociferous minority; and may I take this opportunity of emphasizing that there is no cannibalism in the British Navy. Absolutely none, and when I say none, I mean there is a certain amount, more than we are prepared to admit, but all new ratings are warned that if they wake up in the morning and find any toothmarks at all anywhere on their bodies, they're to tell me immediately so that I can immediately take every measure to hush the whole thing up.
