War lost
today our carriers reacted to enemy carriers operationg near Wunpunko.
Again my big airstrike failed to find target.
Wobbly didnt
Soryu,Akagi,Hiryu,Junyo, Nagato, ashigara and a cl all are sunk or will be sunk tomorrow.
My pathetic airstrikes round 2 iether attacked unescorted or were simply shot to pieces, not a single hit was scored
We are fleeing to the north, my APs are now horribly exposed.
Little consilation at lea lea as we sink a few Aps and AVs
Its now a defend to the death game, I cant win, but we can still fight.
Big seas, Fast ships, life tastes better with salt
It continues
wobbly hammers the remaining CVs to the bottom, Akagia may get away but wont fight again.
This leaves me with no carriers in the theatre at all.
Lots of orphaned aircraft
It gets worse today, the cream of my LBA launch against his CVs,
70 odd unescorted betties and nells, while the zeros decide to go to lunganville
And thats that for my LBA, 100 wildcats have a ball.
very very depressed
Oh well, bad luck happens, Im still going to fight it out, this will be good practice gor WITP I suppose.
My ships still flee north, Im trying to unload a regiment at irau, and another at rennel Is, the rest back to lunga.
There I am sure they will die, a trip wire for my BBs, which remain now as my last hope.

Oh well.... what happened to your CAP?
Anyway, all is not lost... your still doing better than the Japs did historically (small comfort I know).
In time of war the first casualty is truth. - Boake Carter
Cap
The CAP was blown away, I only had 30% cap set so that my strike would get through, of course my strike failed to find anything, the rest of the fighters went to the bottom(I think)
Lesson
Never ever plot a major UV attack while
1 cooking ameal
2 disciplining the kid
3 talking to the wife
4 listening to the swans footy team winning on the radio
5 doing all of the above at once
6 assuming wobbly wouldnt come out and fight until I was ready (sounds familiar doesnt it!)
Anyway, no surrender yet, no never, its up to the battle wagons now, and the land troops.
I will do better historically, that is now the aim, dig in, dig in , and die.

desperate risk
Well akagi absorbed about 10000 bombs that turn, well done, it distracted the carrier strikes from all the other vessels i have in the area.
i agree. irau and rennel island are the keys to the defence of lunga.
So.....
I had 3 regiments at sea, in 3 convoys, they are not going to get away if wobbly agressively uses his CVs, and that is what he is doing, so one regiment is now unloading at irau, one at rennell island, and the final one at lunga.
I expect heavy ship casualties, but what the heck, only attacking sides need massive troop lift, wobbly will need at least a division to take each place, hopefully this takes time to unload, time to hit him!
Today another 30 LBA, vals suicided, what the!!!!
Then I checked, half of my fighters are on escort OK, but escort target lunganville, buggard if I know how that happened.
A torpedo into a yank carrier yesterday, but wobbly rules the waves.
Everyone says that now I should just roll over and die, I disagree, lets see how he goes organising an invasion, and I go at launching long lance attacks! -whooosh,whoooosh(just love that whooosh):D

Exactly! Why bother having this game go to the end of 1943 if players just "throw in the towel" at the earliest opportunity? I believe that the IJN player who succeeds at crushing the Allies in the early months be allowed to savour the benefits of this victory by attempting the defense of his peremiter. Also, I believe that the USN player should be allowed to enjoy the counter attack phase, not just endure the Japanese offensive, and if it fails, be forced to abandon the game because his opponents "don't wanna pway anymowa". I will always play to the bitter end if losing...hopefully my opponents will afford me the same consideration.

Correct.....you can bleed an allied player badly when he is trying to take Irau or even PM. You just have to have balanced bombardment TFs setup and waiting.......and don't forget mines!
Luskan d@mned near ripped the the arse out of my fleet at Irau, with all the bloody mines that placed there ! I was so badly wounded in troop lift capacity that it would have been questionable if I could have gotten any further than Lugna.
You main problem is if wobbly uses his CVs to cut your SLOC between Truk and the rest of the south pacific....there is not much that you will be able to do if he does.

Never argue with an idiot, he will only drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
More buggar!!
Well, one regiment safely landed at irau.
At rennell island a total disaster, I took the shot, but was too low.
I didnt count how many transports that were hit, but at least a dozen will be lost I think.
NO PAIN, NO GAIN!!!
But, at best nearly 2 whole regiments will get ashore, plus some engineers to help them dig in
Currently trying to gather the remains of my surface fleet at Shortland, where fast battle groups will be formed.
Wobbly is retiring, Im sure the next move will be offensive.
PS. Despite everything this horrible week has brought to my fleet and troops, I will remain offensive minded, wobbly CVs cant be everywhere at once.

More slaughter
OH YUK, look, if you want a good time exulting in another imperial defeat, read wobblies report.
The slaughter at rennel island nears its conclusion as a surface task force hits the cripples
But, 2 full regiments are ashore, plus engineers and about 2 grand of supplies.
At lunga things are good, and at irau things are not too shabby iether.
His Cvs lurk in the area, and a BB group is 2 days sail away.
I have 3 fast BB groups formed, now do I base them at munda( quite large now), or at shortland.
Over at new guinea things are OK troop wise, not many aircraft though.
Will wobbly spring straight into the attack, or build up 1st.
I hope he is thinking that I wont be prepared, because Ive been building up rear areas since day 1

air power
There is no history lesson as effective as repeating it.
having no carriers leaves you feeling very vunerable, seeing wobblies not lurking but now boldly sailing just out of range to the south of lunga makes a man feel very very impotent, how to deal with this.
At rennel island the carnage is complete, a sub got into the act as well.
The rest of my ships are finally clear, but if wobbly wants to head north, there is little to stop him.
reinforcements in the form of CAs and CLs have been released, maybe, just maybe Ill get some whooshing in soon.
Finally, hasnt his pilots heard the term fatigue!

Real life
Hate it when real life forces you to rush a turn.....
Wobbly surface forces swept into rennel island and finished of the cripples.
His minesweepers are ducking in and out of irau, and lots of air recon of the place, Im still mulling over a response.
I have a mine layer 3 days out, I think I might send it in, and have several major units to the North set on react, and see what happens.
Wobbly CVs seem to be rotating, some resting, some waiting in ambush to the south of rennel island.
At the moment Im trying to dig in at rennell island, lunga and irau, supplies are around 5k for each place, (30000 at lunga)not enough, but still....
Munda is built nicely, and over the other side of the map the admiralties and gasmatta are well built up.
It will be interesting to see where he strikes 1st.

back again
real life and computer glitches prevent vital updates - wobbly has nothing left to sink at rennel island and all the targets are fleeing north as his airmen get ****** at the bar in noumea, a well deserved drink if i can say so.
He has asked me why I left so many targets there, I feel I had no choice, with a sea full of CVs only 2 or 3 hexes away, it was get the transports sunk at sea and lose all the troops, or get em ashore at rennel, who needs transports now?, its fast transport time at the front now.
Over at Lea lea had a 3 to 1 attack, should clean that up tomorrow
So, 2 regiments at irau
2 and a half at rennell island
a full regiment at lunga
troops at munda and shortland
3 shattered regiments at Truck
2 good ones at lea lea
1 good one at PM
1 good one at sea , destination GG
3 BBs, about 5 CAs, only a dozen destroyers
buggar all LBA
Shattered squadrons from the carriers.
Munda building
Admiralties building
gasmatta building
Steely detirmination to spill blood, bring the attack on wobbly, Im guessing GG 1st place of attack, well in range of Tanaka (He s dead but dont let wobbly know that!)

Trap
Quick one tonight
Have ordered a BB to lurk north of GG on react, and have dispatched a cl, 6dd group towards those islands north of wunpunko, looks like wobbly is trying to establish abase there.
Hope this works!!!

Once more...
Once more into the breach, a small task force is ordered to attack transports north of wunpunko, its probably a trap, but its been so long since Ive sunk a ship of note.....
I need a victory
Darstedly ss-45 is confirmed sunk, I HATE THAT SUB!. That made my day.
Nothing much else,IM wondering, any one ever used BBs as fast transports, and got away with it?
( im thinking of a almost suicide end run Jan 1 1943
