Order #2 I sent out on Monday is a B-52G of the 319th Bomb Wing out of Grand Forks AFB back in 1981. 1/200 scale. I sure miss having those bombers over here. Of course I could always go over to Minot AFB and thier bombers.

Yours look to be 1/72 scale.

Oh aye, the Lanc is about 17" wingspan. Mickey the Moocher is my favourite scheme that the Lanc has worn. Mostly because the original flew from the airfield my house was built on. The original was one of the 36 (out of 7,300+ built) that managed to complete 100 ops. In total four Lancs finished 100 ops with 61 Sqn and another one flew with them on her way to the century. And 50 Sqn had a 100 op veteran as well when flying from Skellingthorpe.

I'll be needing a bigger shelf soon [:D] I quite like the look of a Coastal Command Liberator and I'd like to get hold of another big Lanc, Admiral Prune. If they release a Lanc in her current scheme I'll be getting one of those as well.


I've mostly got Spitfires and Hurricanes so far, although I've got a big Mustang (thanks to GBL) and a few that have served with squadrons I've been on but before my time.

Then about 40 1/32 scale armored vehicles and guns plus two aircraft a Me109 and a SBD. Had to stop buying those; just to big.[:'(]

Went to college in Maine in the very early 70s, and lived in Falmouth Foreside. There were still homes built by sea captains in the 1730-1760s, that escaped gentrification, that had doors off the 2nd story hallway for winter access. A snowfall level that New England has not seen for the past 300 years, till perhaps now.

The Indians who did speak to the Pilgrims told them open traps on their roofs, with ladders, so they could come forth in the winter snows.The Abenaki built lodges with a “cupola” on the end, so they could get in and out during winter. All built for snow fall levels that haven’t been seen in the area for the past 300 years.

Lief Erickson landed on what many believe to be Nova Scotia. He found such a profusion of grapes growing there that he named it Vinland. The native North American grape is vitus cornucopia. It has specific growth parameters. It can be cultivated in a region from about mid NY State, south wards. It grows wild in the warm, wet spots, like coastal Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and “parts” of Texas. It has not been seen growing in the wild in the NE US (or Canada) since 900 AD. And the Brits had a major Naval base at Halifax, and they knew the value of fruit, and reported everything they sent back to Old Blighty, but not a word about grapes, not even one single apocryphal account by ANY sea captain clearing this station.

Erik Thorvaldsson finds Greenland (ok, maybe Gunbjorn Ulfsson), somewhere around 975 AD. He calls it Greenland because it’s green. It has meadows. It can support goats and sheep and can give a home to many clans. Something Greenland has been unable to do for over 500 years.

Ingolfur Amarson finds Iceland. He finds Reykjavik and because of the season and the geothermal stream, names it Iceland. According to the Landnamabok, It was a paradise, and winter dripped it’s ice from the tree limbs. Iceland hasn’t had trees, or any kind of dripping ice for over 500 years.

There’s more; lots more. But then again, I’m an empiricist.

I have about 25+ 1:72 and 1:48 aircraft dioramas plus 5+ 1:400 ship dioramas... all are about 25+ years old... I never transitioned to airbrush... <SIGH>

anywhere from 18-22" I would say...not measuring drifts, this is what I measured in about a dozen places around the yard. I heard we have more south of town, but I don't want to go to the farm and get stuck just to find out.

You need to set up your railroad stuff so Dixie and I can bomb and strafe your railyard.[:D]

Skeaking of a railyard; I just stepped out to have a smoke. The new office is next to the railyard. And this has puzzled me for quite some time. Does anyone know the story behind all the grafitti on many of the railcars. Some of it is pretty interesting.

The tagging of railroad cars can be very interesting. It is my understanding that the taggers (vandals to the railroad and the law) like to have a place to put their "mark". The larger, the better and railcars can be quite large (nearly 90'x14' with some cars).

I hunt trains for a hobby. You may ask how you "hunt trains", well you follow their tracks! [:D] Some railfan humor there. I have seen quite a few very interesting "tagging" of railcars. Some quite humorous, and most making you scratch you head wondering what the vandal was trying to convey. The railroads, for the most part, only clean off or cover back over the critical parts of the car (Railroad ID and car details such as capacity and such) instead of the whole car as it is not economical to do so.

There is a big debate in the model railroad community as to if this aspect of railroading should be modeled as it promotes what is a crime. Many are on both sides of the debate.
