I am prepared to let a few B-17's get jungle rot if they can put a dent in the airfield and airframes at New Ullapool.

Northern Oz: The Japs made a brief effort to cover the 5th Div with LRCAP from Wyndham and they did down a few Hudsons but the airfield is non-operational about 70% of the time due to the B-17 raids from Darwin. 5th Div is taking about 50-100 casualties every day from aerial bombardment. More LYB's coming in to Wyndham. They are like cockroaches, if you see one there are hundreds crawling around in the mangrove swamps. I think supply is getting through from Alice Springs which is super news. Lord Admiral Sprior cleared the road from NRD to Katherine.

I'd say it's about time to bring in the primadonna MacArthur. I think this is going to be the main Jap effort in Oz. The IJN is too busy trying to take New Scotland to mount a landing in Eastern Oz or Perth

The B-17 raid from New Edinburgh went quite well. 33 of 43 available 17's participated. The fighter sweeps were inept but the 17's did well agaisnt a small CAP.

The Japs are indeed landing at Norfolk with both carrier groups in support. The Kiwi aviation unit there is completely fatigued. It is almost useless to put aircraft there for now. Everything that can fly is moving out.

Air losses below. The Betty losses are satisfying. Of course, the LYB's are going to be angry so New Edinburgh is going to catch Hell. I am leaving the B-17's there to go another day. Fighter supply is pitiable.

Indeed, but this attack is no longer about the strategic goal of attritting Jap airpower. This is about the operational goal of reducing the short-term ability of New Ullapool to stage anti-shipping attacks as a prelude to a relief mission to New Edinburgh or even a naval bombardment of New Ullapool. Next job....defeat the kido Butai. What could go wrong?

My God will do nicely! Two of those giants (leeches???) could drain a man in a day. Whereever those reside is the last place on Earth I visit. However, I understand that lawyers, Homeowner Assn busibodies and other reptilian persons keep these as pets.

I did have a tarantula try to steal my car a few weeks ago. After a couple weeks (and feeding him a stink bug which I'm sure tasted awful) I released him with a stern warning. (Madre de dios their fangs are big!)
