RE: THE THREAD!!!
Was watching the Seattle Sounders/Portland Timbers match last night when the Timbers brought a new player in to the match. While the announcers called him a "European player" the info on the screen showed that he is from Noumea, New Caledonia. I chuckled at the thought that almost nobody else watching the match has a clue as to where that is...

Isn't New Caledonia technically a voting prefecture of Paris?

And a sunny and frigid Sunday morning tithe. Got the turn to Des done, so I'm off to clean off the driveway before tomorrow's 3-5" expected inches. [8D]

I don't know what prefecture it is considered to be in, but French possessions are considered to be part of France (as compared to US territories) so I can understand the announcers comments (besides I am sure the player in question used to play in one or more of the continental leagues).

Morning tithe... Still heavy rain, which we need. Plus Andre's still sinking things, which we don't need.

No New Caledonia has a Territorial Congress, which is composed of members of the three provincial areas, and is mainly dominated by the ethnic Kanak movement. New Caledonia is then represented in the French Parliament by two deputies and two senators, who are also mostly Kanak I think. The only direct oversite from the French State is a High Commissioner, who is sort of a Governor.

The original Casino Royale, the version with David Niven and Woody Allen, was on the other night. My favorite version[:)]

I didn't get any email from you since the one you sent about putting the game on pause, but it's definitely your turn.
