Good morning folks.
Man 3 days ago it was in the 70s, yesterday it dropped to below 32 and snowed for a couple of hours and then shot back to the 40s. Who knows what today will bring.

Re: THE THREAD!!!
Same uncertainty here. Last week we got up as high as 17ºC for a couple of days and started worrying about the snow melt happening too fast (flood problems). Then it cooled a couple of days and we had a one-day blizzard dumping over 6" of snow (northern US got a lot more, all the way through the mid-west). Last week was temps just below zero but slow melt where the sun was shining. Today should be +10C, and there are fears that North Dakota will have much warmer temps on a heavy snowpack that will send flood waters up the Red River to our shallow basin. I can remember a few decades ago that snow melts were more gradual and steady - better certainty.Zovs wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 8:23 am Good morning folks.

But I do love the clear skies we have been getting after muchos gray winter overcast.

Re: THE THREAD!!!
It can also be rather warm in North Dakota as well. The problem for Winnipeg is a rapid snow melt south of it while it is still cool/cold with the Red River still frozen over. Then, the flood waters can get a little high even over 50 feet above flood stage which in the Lake Agassiz basin can spread a long way. But Winnipeg did made flood diversions. Oh well, more silt for the 30+ feet of topsoil!Zovs wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 1:04 pmI am close-ish to Toronto but in the US. I see your up near North Dakoda! 16-18 hours from my house.
