Yes computer game. They are also working on a modern war version.ORIGINAL: Grotius
Hehe, not only do I have thread; I have dozens of Plano boxes with ASL counters; umpteen sets of dice; huge clear plastic sheets under which I used to put Historical ASL boards; several three-ring binders full of rules; you name it.ASL is still around. Only now it's called Combat Mission. And you don;'t need a peice of thread to check LOS!
I take it you mean Combat Mission, the computer game? I just never could get into it. It's the same idea as ASL, but somehow it didn't capture my imagination. Somehow WiTP did.![]()
I saw mention of Flat Top. Now That is an awesome game! Good god I'd love to have it on computer. It was much like witp in ways. But much more detailed in the air operations. It's amazing many here that have played a game like Third Reich were also playing many of the other same games I was.
As for that SL game. My older brother and I played many many many times. But we both will always recall the lone Russian guards Squad in the Factory works. They took out 2 platoons of the best german infantry and support he had in a Close Combat engagement with snakeyes. It was the one in a million. Niether he or I will ever forget it.
Oh the dispair that crossed his face makes me laugh still today. A very clear memory of something that happened in a game more than 20 years ago. [8D]
