From: Base commander, Noumea

Subj: Kido Butai
The Kido Butai is slowly crawling towards our position, expected that she is followed by an invasion force. All aircrafts are standing ready for an attack towards enemy shipping. New Zealand has sent an infantery division for our support, they are unloading this very moment. They might be badly needed!

A day that sends the CiCPac into a furious rage.
From: Base commander, Noumea
To: CiCPac HQ
Subj: Aerial commanders
Although the Kido Butai is within striking distance, the commanders of our bomber groups came to me today and said that they refused to fly without heavy fighter support. I made it clear to them that this will not be tolerated, and two of them were relieved of command. I made it clear that at this time we need to strike at the enemy no matter what the cost. Hopefully this will enable a strike tomorrow!
From: Base commander, Karachi
To: CiCPac HQ
Subj: RAF
Although our orders were for our planes NOT to engage the enemy, and that our pilots needed more training, all fighters and fighter bombers decided to scramble against a heavy Japanese air raid. We lost 107 planes in the air today, against the Japanese losses of 6 Zeroes.
(OOC: this happened because I managed to set training levels at 100, which ofc turns the mission from training and into CAP....)/i]

The fleet carrying reinforcements are under aerial attacks, the fleet has been ordered to press on. Hopefully this will be the men you need to capture the island. By now Lahaina has become a "do or die" base!

Prepare to welcome reinforcements, they should start to land sometime tonight. Be warned however that the 50.000 men initially sent to Lahaina have now dwindeled to 45.000 due to losses at sea. It will be some time before another relief force can be sent. Try to take out the enemy as soon as possible!

Subj: Kido Butai
Be warned that the Kido Butai has put some distance between itself and Noumea, they now seem to be heading for Brisbane!

Although the landings at Lahaina has commenced, everyone at CiCPac HQ understands four things.
1. The landing has once more cost alot of shipping, this was expected.
2. It is doubtful if enough troops have arrived at the island as the Japanese too has brought in reinforcements.
3. Another landing is needed.
4. Lahaina has become to the Allies what Stalingrad was for Hitler.

Unfortunately the enemy is too strong despite our recent reinforcements, more troops are needed still.
From: Base commander, Karachi
To: CiCPac HQ

We are still holding, our forts are down to 20% strength as we have been forced to work on clearing the docks and airstrips instead of taking care of our forts.
OOC: the delay in turns nowadays is all on my part. Alot of things happening at work, unfortunately that will suck up alot of time at some days not progressing the game as fast as I'ld like.

The enemy keeps attacking our positions, but he is unable to do any major damage, and he is running low on time, in a few days we will recieve a few more engineer units, and in 14 days an entire infantry division will be ready for duty. Feeling more and more secure about our position every day.
From: Base commander, Darwin
To: CiCPac HQ
Subj: Sit.Rep
The enemy has landed more troops at Wyndham, please send another infantry division if at all doable!
From: Base commander, Noumea
To: CiCPac HQ
Subj: Purpose of Kido Butai in the area
Today it became evident what the Kido Butai is doing lingering offshore. We spotted an enemy transportation force heading for Koumac. Our Beaufaurt XIs went out to attack, and although they managed to hit two transports, we lost seven bombers to zero-fighters based at the Kido Butai. Koumac is only lightly defended, will keep our forces at Noumea and keep fortifying our position. Advice nto to send any reinforcements as long as the Kido Butai is in the vicinity, but another infantry division as well as a few engineer units would be greatly apreciated.

Is there anyway you could bring these Engeeners to Noumea by air transport? This could avoid the sea-transportation danger ???

No chance at all, I hold Noumea and the island on which the port is located, NZ and Australia. Next stop would be US West Coast and Karachi (still)...I'm in such poor shape, been since Dec 7th 1941 really hehe.
The KB has been at sea for some days now, and he is not bringing in oilers as far as I can tell. He'll probably try to avoid refuling in Rabaul as well since he knows I have some B17 at PM. As soon as KB starts moving I'll spend all my PPs to free up some more troops in Aus/NZ to bolster the defence at Noumea.

To CiCPac Terje439 this was a day of decisions. Alot of decisions had to be made, but at the end of the day he could not help but feel somewhat relieved to have atleast taken some decisive actions.
From: CiCPac HQ
To: Base commander, Lahaina
Subj: recent performance
It is becoming clear that we cannot win the battle at Lahaina as of today. Submarines will evaquate partions of every unit on the island to Pearl Harbour to save what can be saved.

It has been decided that our only option as of today will be to withdraw all forces from Northern Burma/SE India towards Karachi.
