To be honest, to me fun (or should I say a big laugh) is what matters -as opposed to an über serious operational plan. Trashing enemy units is a good laugh. This does not mean I will commit suicide actions but still, trash every unit you can. I mean, you really could have done it. You will have a good laugh and then you will hurt your e-enemy.

Everyone is saying that I should counter-attack and I know that most of the time majority is right ... but I can't justify risky and draining attacks that will weaken me before blizzard and won't affect Germans too much.

As much as I like attacking I am not able to force myself to do it now.

Well, you have managed a couple of nice counterstrokes anyway! Nicely done!

Small summarise of Soviet OOB and looses that will cast some light on my defensive strategy in later stages of German offensive.

Please bear in mind, that reinforcements were mainly poor quality units. Due to early massive pockets created by super-mobile panzers his infantry didn't fight and was in great shape.

I don't know why he didn't grind me down with his footmen. Red Army was almost broken.

No German attack that turn.

I feel confident enough to let myself undertake 2 morale building attacks. Mixed results.

Due to lack of determination and limited resources my positions in Crimea can be easily broken. This is gamble.

No German attacks and only 1 Soviet - near Moscow. Using inf regiment he occupied hex I won last turn. Free morale boost for me. Weird situation.

Interesting

I remember how cheesed off you used to get when I counter attacked as the Soviets

You could (probably should) have been attacking where he was inactive, especially in the Moscow area.

Lots and lots of potential though for a good winter, as long as he hangs around.

All that territory in the north that you have lost though, its great defensively for him, and he will only have to retreat to the limit of his supply lines.

T24 Crimea (German)

Saper finally made his move - my feeble forces in peninsula were brushed aside and encircled Axis units were liberated.

Apart from this counter-stroke nothing happened.

My forces are extremely anaemic here - I do not have anything stronger than 1 CV. I doubt anything will happen here.

Host gathered around Moscow will strike west and south. These are my best troops so I have high hopes.

Another strike force assembles near Voronezh - weak units (only few 2 CV formations). But terrain will be favourable and I expect him to be weak here.

I lost my chance here, but at least he won't be able to use Romanian mountain troops elsewhere.

First turn of blizzard.

In the north I am so weak, that nothing can happen, but I am pleased by the fact that his mobile forces are not in winter quarters.

First line of forts got breached, but penetration is shallow so there is still plenty of fighting to be done before I can make successful hasty attacks.
