Sillyflower can't force things near the Black Sea, he'll get pinned against it. He can't come straight ahead and up north, that's where the big boys are with the space THEPROS don't want me to have.

I've done nothing to worry them. I

SHC main objective is to drive down your morale. All them units are not in the south to get a tan on the beach.

If he pushed west he can retreat faster then u can advance.

Morale is everything. 3.5 million low morale Germans can't hold back 7 million Russians in late 42. 3.5 million high morale Germans can hold back 9+ million russians from 42 through Jan 44.

Hmm after reading your idea of using HQ's to help link up areas why not use that to speed up RR from 4 to 5?

There are still bugs in the RR as MT knows. You can still get 5 hexes in a turn on some lines in different areas. You cant get 5 per turn, but on some lines there are areas where you can get 4/5/4/4/5 ect ect.

Not sure Hitman looked at using his system to pump up the RR per turn rate from 4/5/4/4/5 to 5/6/5/5/6. The AI RR units must move in logistic phases so should be able to bump up rate/

MT you been doing that alrdy?

No I have not. Its true there is the odd spot where you can get 5 hexes done in one go but I have not found that it is worthy of keeping 2 RR in the area for that purpose. My RR is pretty standard at the upper levels. But I do take advantage of the Baltic rails now more than before, esp T1.

Pelton in the old days when you were walking into Leningrad on the third turn and Stalingrad by late summer rapid repair of rail lines eastward was crucial. FBD's were doubled up in different army groups... all sort of ideas and strategies were discussed.

What would the benefits be of an extra rail hex repaired every 3-4-5 turns in each army group ? AGN ...none. The ability for the Soviets to rail large numbers of troops to the Leningrad sector in the first 3 turns and create a massive fort network prevents any possible use of an extended suply line.

AGC... supply is a problem up to the 8th turn or so, but would 2 or 3 additional repaired rail hexes make a big difference ??? Unlikely. BTW, I think many Axis players are going to refocus on AGC in future games.

And AGS. Yhe Soviets would still simply retreat in front of the more rapidly adavncing supply lines. An extra 3-4-5 hexes of rail repair threatens Rostov and puts the German advance deep into the Donbas, but does it really make a huge difference ?

Not pting fingers so to speak.

I know in the past we would throw things around so to speak to.

Was looking to do the same but be more public about it.

Same hitman not looking down on your new idea, but looking at how it could be used and might be alrdy by someone off the grid so to speak.

4 or 5 hexes in north your right is not helpfull, 3 or 4 in center could be but to late.

In the south east of Kurck to Rostov it would be very helpeful to drive the lines east and mean basicly no blizzard. As extra ground gained would mean an early retreat and no real blizzard O in south.

=

more units could be transfered to Tula north.

1 little thing can add up to something huge in the long run.

you could be looking at more then 6. Guess I have to test it and see.

I haven't shown my wife the pictures Sillyflower labelled as her's ... David, I guarantee I would be in a lot more hot H2O than you if she saw them... I'll show some real ones later (she is a looker) but without the emphasis on her lower appendages),

I don't doubt her looks but you may be in boiling oil rather than mere hot water if you focus on her upper appendages.

Tut tut to those of you with adolescent minds who did not realise I'm talking batwings.

Hey, my friend ........ Don't over-praise what , in reality. was not that big of a deal to THEPROS. I think I can predict what Sillyflower would say; it does not interfere with their plans. They helds onto Leningrad thru the summer while tying up a big German force, did not lose a ton of troops (shipped a lot out after the railnet was cut), and their plannng for the future will continue unimpeded. Had I not taken the area east of Lake Ilmen THEPROS would have mounted a major effort there IMO.

A basic part of their strategy is not to give the Pz space to operate. I still haven't really opened anything up with my last turn; I've ndjust penetrated the defense there. They will respond appropriately.

Now Sillyflower has verbalized THEPROS biggest lament- just as I have been frustrated by the lack of '41 German fireworks, so will they in blizzard of'41-42. They have roughed up many an Axis player (some far more skilled than I) and were entertained. Not in this game. And they know it. I think Sillyflower is planning a Russian offense for winter, maybe mud, maybe even the last 3 turns in AGS this fall to keep the Germans close to his forces, It ain't going to happen. Don't worry Pelto, there are a lot of grey jerseys in AGS. A lot of rifles, tanks, and coffins for the Red horde if they come a calling.

Sillyflower can't force things near the Black Sea, he'll get pinned against it. He can't come straight ahead and up north, that's where the big boys are with the space THEPROS don't want me to have.

I've done nothing to worry them. I

This is a very good assessment of my thinking to date. I have never held Lgrad. It's even harder in multiplayer as it would be a bit selfish to leave Belphegor with nothing in the south. I know Canadians never complain but I don't want to take advantage when it is not necessary.

It's not much of a game if Germans fail to capture any of Lgrad, Moscow or Rostov and I want to crush him slowly with the full Mk2.0 Red Army. That's also why he's wrong about the blizzard. A big Russian offensive then is so passé these days.

I predicted and adjusted before the northern lurch forth in the Ilmen area but not by about 18 mobile divs so he did a bit better than I expected. The 10 divs up there would not have achieved much, so the better choices were either to do nothing much there or what he did. We shall see how he fares against the massed hordes there now.

Yea, I'm going to give up space. I enjoyed reading your blizzard comments in the War Room. It's been helpful. I'll run. How much ??? MT says one must be flexible. Pelton says don't be stupid. I will do the first and not the later. To run like a coward rabbitt

There was me thinking of you as more a Hitsheep, following your flock of advisers, rather than a cowardly rabbit.

Oh well, rabbits can be found wherever they dig their trenches

I applaud your commentary ... 1) minimal thrash talk (there is such a thing of diminishing returns , the English seem to have an innate sense of it), 2) direct reference to not only many of my comments, but also my meaningful images, (David, as I said before, those dogs are simply majestic, just simply majestic), and 3) honest recognition that the force of my Ilmen offense took you slightly by surprise. Well done chap !!!

However you did disappoint me my English friend. First, I'm surprised your brought up the "appendage" issue, for a man like me could only be swept off his feet by a woman with all the "goods" ,,, character, personality, mind, and, undoubtedly impressive anatomy. Second, you're simply not being honest about your unhappiness in not having the opportunity to spank me during the up-coming blizzard. Whether HITSHEEP or TERRIFICUS CUNICULUS, you will be facing a strong German Army come '43 and '44 and '45; Mark me well. And finally (I'll try to be nice Sillyflower) the word Yankee is just not correct. I'm a midwesterner (born in Indiana) that lives in the south (Mississippi.) You are lacking in your knowlege of world geography (and I will not painfully remind you why).

Mississippi is infamous for many things, I encourage you to do some research, accordingly.

Indiana was on the side of the Union in the civil war, and I'm sure you know even more people than I do who equate the words union and yankee so I do not agree that I fell into error there.

I even attended a re-enactment in Biloxi, at the end of which the man leading the union forces spoke to the crowd reassuring them that he and his colleagues were good ole boys but someone had to dress up as the yankee enemy.

What else is MS famous for? I will give it Elvis and some of the blues greats like Howlin' Wolf but Britney Spears? If that's the best 'cultural' icon it can produce now then I feel sorry for y'all.

It's the only place I have ever had Brunswick stew, which almost made the trip worthwhile on its own, but that was introduced to America by the Brunswick soldiers who fought for George III.

I saw a chain gang (another cultural icon) in Jackson

If by MI you mean Mississippi then you made a typo. MS = Mississippi, MI = Michigan. Also you will find that only northern portions of Indiana will consent to being the object of the slur "Yankee", those from southern Indiana tend to refute that. Although southern Indiana also supplied many troops to the Union cause.

Just helping educate the English in proper colonial designations!

Sillyflower, something is amiss; your petals are wilting. Elvis's Graceland is in Memphis (TN), Brittany Spears home town is Kentwood (La), (the fact that they are native Mississipians is merely academic), and of greatest importance (that is to you, personally) the Mississippi state bird is the Mockingbird. I apologize for being so frank.

You are correct. It seems I can't plan anything major following your outstanding response to my Lake Ilmen offensive. Impressive play.

I know but as he was born in MS I therefore properly regard him as a product of that state. Apologies if that is not the convention Yanks of all types use

Ignorance rather than a typo I'm afraid. I will correct my post to show off my new knowledge.

I don't know exactly what part of Indiana Hitman is from.

The main problem is that we English just think of America as 1 country, just as many Americans seem to think Europe is.

You are correct.

For the Civil War buffs on this forum, a Mississippian, Shelby Foote, authored a three book series (each 8-900 pages) on the 4 year conflict. It is a must read

Sillyflower - actually many of us 'Americans' do know that Europe has many nations in it - after all a majority of us have ancestors that have been kicked out of most of them! And those that weren't kicked out ran away from them. We may not know all of the 'new' names for them, the European map has changed DRASTICALLY since my school days back in the 60s & 70s, but we know there are a whole lot of 'em!

Another good Civil War set is Battles & Leaders (four volume set) which is a collection of essays written in the early 1880s by the actual commanders and soldiers of the war. The arguments over credit and blame in them is quite eye-opening for those of us who are removed from the acts by 100 - 150 years.

But enough digression - let the trash talk phase resume between Sillyflower and Hitman.

I'll look at that one Flaviusx, but there is no military author that can write like Foote. He is able to express so much information so smoothly. Just his writing style is pleasureable to experience.

An aside.. My wife took an American history class at the University of New Orleans in the late '70. Guess who lectured to her (without any notes) a whole semester, maybe 50 hours total ??? Steven Ambrose !!!
