So um....I realize you're aiming for realism and historical accuracy and all that and I admit I haven't really been looking at the outlayersORIGINAL: sPzAbt653Don't the results of shelling airfields with artillery seem a bit unrealistic ? The same with ships shooting at airfields. Planes sit there and get wiped out.I managed to get some arty up next to a Soviet airfield and I did an airfield strike with them ...
in the combat results. I really haven't seen anything out of the ordinary. Maybe I need a fresh pair of eyes. I'll start paying attention
and look into the extraordinary results that seem to happen from time to time. I don't remember right off the top of my head whether
we're using half-week turns or week turns or what it is but I'm inexperienced in the real world and don't know what a realistic number
might be expected to be. I'm no expert. So do you think we need to adjust the AAA leatheality index or the attrition divider or both?
EDIT: If you examine the picture in post #175, the image of the airfield strike combat results, note with me that I used all the arty
available on the Axis side, almost. I honestly didn't think it was extraordinary.
It's not scenario specific, it's a TOAW thing. For example, when a ground unit moves into a hex that contains enemy Air Units, the Air Units bug out as expected. But park some artillery within range and shell an enemy airfield and the air units sit there and suffer heavy losses. Even if a scenario uses six hour turns, it seems unrealistic that planes stay on the ground while the pilots watch them get shelled for six hours.
