AGC / AGS update - Turn 59, 02AUG42

Panzer divisions have punched another hole in the Soviet line, and are encircling another large section of the Soviet defenses near Belgorod. Very open terrain for mobile forces to run amok.
I see that you've punched a pretty good hole in the Soviet lines and everything but I don't see the horde of troops awaiting the
signal to pour through the hole. I do the same thing and it's rather frustrating to be able to make a good hole and then not
have the resources to take advantage of it. I guess I need to start planning better Get everybody working on the same team.
I'm getting older and starting to lose my ability to hold the entire "battlefield awareness" in my head and I find that I have to
slow down and review before starting something risky. Which is often. My turns per hour has gone down in the last few years.
But even played slower and more deliberately it's still fun.

My front line is a bit stretched out now with all forces engaged along the entire front. Don't have the hordes anymore to pour through a breakout. I'm using the 9 Panzer divisions to encircle sections of the Soviet line, and then crushing them in kind. With it being the first week of August, I'm watching for the weather to start turning and I don't want to strand any of my units with a lack of supply. We have the benefit of better thinking and preserving our troops, unlike the previous invasion of Russia.

But, your right though, I pushed through without having a lot of backup to secure both forward and flank to complete the encirclement. I do have troops staged further south to help push forward when the time is right. Sometimes there's so much to look over, things get missed. The German's haven't had any re-enforcements in over 5 turns now.

AGC update - Turn 61, 16AUG42

AGC Commanders got bored sitting around, and ordered an offensive to push forward. Infantry divisions are moving around the south end of Moscow and working back north to encircle the Soviet forces dug in. Additional mobile forces were tasked with breaking open another gap to prevent new defenders from arriving into the AO.

AGS update - Turn 61, 16AUG42.

AGS continues to push south from Kursk with the bulk of the Panzer forces. Two encirclements have been completed again. With the soviet formations cut off from their supply, these pockets of resistance will be reduced in the coming weeks.

AGS Update #2, Turn 62, 23AUG42

A third encirclement opportunity has presented itself further south. 19th PzK has jumped off from Poltava with additional Infantry divisions in tow. If this third encirclement is successful, this would eliminate a substantial portion of the Soviet southern defensive line.

Air War activities - Turn 62, 23AUG42.

German interdiction efforts have gone up to 3%. Also maintaining a healthy AS effort to this point. The soviet air force at the front gets hammered every time it flies support or airfield bombing runs.

AGS update - Turn 62, 23AUG42.

Initial pockets of resistance have been reduced, and another big pocket is close to be sealed as well. 19th PzK is having some difficult pushing out from Poltaya. Panzer forces coming from the west are having much better luck in sealing off the pocket.

AGS update - Turn 63, 30AUG42

A second encirclement has been completed by AGS forces. This large pocket of trapped Soviet forces will take a bit more time to reduce. Weather has been holding so far, but the forecast is showing more rain coming. This operation needs to be completed before the ground turns to mud and mobile forces are slowed.

Abwehr has indicated that there are multiple units from multiple divisions and Corps, including 9 different HQ formations. All in all, there are more than 20 different units stuck in this pocket.

Operational Battlefront view, Turn 63, 30AUG42.

AGN and AGC will continue to hold the line from Leningrad to Moscow. The link up with the Finns has been completed and the defensive line is securing.

AGC Infantry divisions are slowly pushing around the southern end of Moscow to encircle a large contingent of dug-in Soviet defenders, troops are being conserved on the encirclement instead of a head on attack.

AGC and AGS, Mobile forces have been encircling and eliminating Soviet defenders and extended the front lines forward.

AGS - The continuing destruction of the Soviet defensive line in the south is progressing, the plan is to hopefully push forward and bring the front lines in the vicinity of Rostov.

AGS update - Turn 64, 06SEP42

AGS south now has completed a large encirclement SW of Belgorod and another north of Dnepropetrovsk. Mobile forces have pushed the front lines way to the east. Any hope of rescue or breakout of these encircled Soviets troops is nil. With the large pocket SW of Belgorod, expectations is to take near a month to reduce it.

The Rumanian and Italian forces were included in the smaller encirclement.

German aircraft losses, turn 64. SEP'42

Losses look heavy to me, but the air war has been non-stop since operations started in 1941. Soviet bombers continue to hit German airfields creating additional losses to interdiction aircraft.

Soviet aircraft losses, turn 64.

High losses, comparable to the German aircraft in theater.

Soviet bombers continue to hit German airfields creating additional losses to interdiction aircraft.

I may have asked this before, but are you camping those AA units on the airfields ? Usually Elmer shy's away from airfield attacks when Flak is there.

For what its worth, the Germans historically used some of their Flak units to combat Soviet tanks. These are the regimental sized Flak units in the scenario. There are also a handful of smaller sized Flak units that can be used to protect airfields.
