AGC / AGS update - Turn 59, 02AUG42
Panzer divisions have punched another hole in the Soviet line, and are encircling another large section of the Soviet defenses near Belgorod. Very open terrain for mobile forces to run amok.
signal to pour through the hole. I do the same thing and it's rather frustrating to be able to make a good hole and then not
have the resources to take advantage of it. I guess I need to start planning better Get everybody working on the same team.
I'm getting older and starting to lose my ability to hold the entire "battlefield awareness" in my head and I find that I have to
slow down and review before starting something risky. Which is often. My turns per hour has gone down in the last few years.
But even played slower and more deliberately it's still fun.
My front line is a bit stretched out now with all forces engaged along the entire front. Don't have the hordes anymore to pour through a breakout. I'm using the 9 Panzer divisions to encircle sections of the Soviet line, and then crushing them in kind. With it being the first week of August, I'm watching for the weather to start turning and I don't want to strand any of my units with a lack of supply. We have the benefit of better thinking and preserving our troops, unlike the previous invasion of Russia.
But, your right though, I pushed through without having a lot of backup to secure both forward and flank to complete the encirclement. I do have troops staged further south to help push forward when the time is right. Sometimes there's so much to look over, things get missed. The German's haven't had any re-enforcements in over 5 turns now.
