I just have to know... would it have been wise to attack? I guess your Luftwaffe needed some repair too and since the first raid was a real desaster the second one shouldn't be any better. Let me add "truthful" to your list of glory

Probably not in any major way because after 3 intense turn of fighting there wasn't a whole lot of fighter air fleet fit enough to escort bombers. [;)]
Better to have them go all at once than just a little at a time. [:'(]

Hehe, what's going on here, gentlemen? Did you have to order a tact. withdraw, KZ?

Well, even the most aggressive player need to refit their unit from time to times. Flying 4 intercepts and 1 escort and 1 attack, would take its toll on even the best pilot. They can use a few days break. [:D]
I notice German HQ can't be attached to minor country air unit. Is that a new thing? I seem to remember they used to.

That`s why I called it a "tactical withdraw".They can use a few days break.
I seem to remember they used to.
Was the case in Breakthrough at latest, otherwise the leaged nations were completely useless. They`ve got better HQs and the same attack- and defence values as well.

I don't know. Withdrawing doesn't generally entails staying in place. [;)]

Was meant ironically, seemed you`re facing heavier resistance than expected.

yes and no, I guess? I saw the air unit count so I knew the Isle was stashed full of planes, so that part was expected. But based on the dismal record of USSR AAs I thought I could just bomb London to death anyway. I didn't expect not inflicting a single damage to the unit in London. Couple of turn prior he had a corp in the city so I'm not even sure the AA had time to ramp up its entrenchment to max. [:o]

Depends on the xp of your bombers, the prediction won't be more than 0:1 usually with more than 1 xp (after drawing all shots off adjacent AA and reducing entrenchement of course).
I guess you'll have to bite the lemon and invade.

I was a bit surprised too... yup, I totally forgot to move out that corps and replace it with the AA unit earlier. The results were still outstanding. Probably because you operated your bombers back to western Europe --> lower morale/readiness. But even with better results it usually takes two or three raids to destroy an AA unit.
Anyway... that means I'm still in. Not for very long but at least for a few turns. Maybe it is a looooooong and cold winter followed by heavy rain until mid of June
But whatever will come next, I still have to say that I'm learning here. I think I played ~7 games online so far. And I already have some funny ideas how to try it next. Maybe I can find a way to break the Axis war machines into pieces. I have some changes in mind how to play the UK (and USA... just a bit) and some other ideas for the USSR. Unfortunately by far to late to implement it now to see how it works.

New tactics:
KZ is a very fast player, I usually get my turns back in no time.
NOT if England is playing as it seems.
That reminds me of Asterix in Great Britain. The Romans can not defeat them until they notice that they are having tea time at 5pm.
I should attack when the three lions are playing their final. His attention will be somewhere else.

C'Mon man, I'm on Eastern Standard Time, I'm at work! [:'(]
RE: Tourney AAR KorutZelva (Axis) vs Mika (Allies)
That means another fail for my tactics
December 1943 now... fighters and bombers waiting for clear skies on both sides. As it seems the British Island can not be conquered with paratroopers. I expect amphibious landings pretty soon. Now it really begins to pay off that I could sink a part of his fleet so early and that I could preserve so many ships. He will have to defeat the Royal Navy first or I will get every ship trying to reach British soil.
The other thing is that I still have no chance to defeat German forces in the east. But the Soviets are building up their forces (again and again and again). And this time I have one advantage. I can attack and I can be sure that there are no fighters or at least just a few. The rest has to stay in the West to defeat the allied fighters.
To quote "Blackadder":
SIR! I have a cunning plan...
I just hope I have enough time to see if it works.

I'm at 2 games now but I was hoping to 'semi-retire' and scale back my involvement to just the odd tourney games. I still have to finish Star Craft Remastered! I'm making an exception because my first AAR attempt at your mod was cut short when the guy abandoned early. [8D]
RE: Tourney AAR KorutZelva (Axis) vs Mika (Allies)
oh well... the third time now that the Luftwaffe gets the first strike when weather turns better again.
Pretty hard to do any damage if you are missing some fighters and many others are damaged.
And again and again and again UK and USA need some time to rebuild and repair.
I'd love to see what I could do with a reinforced air force and the first strike.
Of course that was the only chance... hitting the Luftwaffe as hard as possible and start an offensive in the west. That's delayed... the third time.
Mr Stalin is not really amused but I am surprised that he is still in such a good (well, not as bad as expected) position.
Let's hope the German fighters and bombers took some damage too. At least going for London is a bit too risky for the Luftwaffe.

It is getting worse... KZ can even split up his air force without problems.
Parts of the Luftwaffe bombed Ankara and the Fallschirmjaeger unit dropped above the city and captured it. Turkey will surrender pretty soon.
I see tanks in Russia, in Africa everywhere he needs them.
The rest of the Luftwaffe is still near France forcing my fighters into dogfights. The bombers are scouting for ships that are cruising around to find amphibious ships (sunk one last turn, damaged another one). I could also sink two torpedo boats, one destroyer and the Bismarck. Of course I lost some own ships too.
But all that won't help if my air force is always destroyed in the first turn. I have to risk it again as soon as the fighters and bombers are rebuilt again. Wait for bad weather, place them close enough to attack and pray!
I'm also launching a little offensive in the east. More a desperate one... I built so many units north of Stalingrad that it would be a waste of ressources to wait for the end. I dropped a paratrooper behind enemy lines. I damaged a HQ and maybe the supply is reduced a bit. Now I have to see what happens next... counter attack or retreat.
I'm still VERY surprised by some game mechanics. I move a shock army (with HQ support of course) next to an army and the first combat result prediction shows 0:4. Not a single damage point at all... I couldn't say what I'm doing wrong here.

Combination of low nationale morale, HQ experience, entrenchment and supply. Now the fighting is taking place far from your cities so your units next to mine are often supply 5, sometimes lower. Late in the game, infantry is the unit you use to hold the enemy still while artillery, tank and bombers get to work.
