In more bad news, the Allies are on the offensive in Africa.
We'll have to pull back to Misurata and set up defenses there.

We begin by advancing on the ground and occupying the empty ports.
Next we carefully fly in a couple of interceptors and bombers.
In the ensuing air battles the British do have some success but
as far as we can tell there is only a single active British interceptor.
This once again should allow us to use our paratroopers.

We drop an Italian para north of Hull but there is a full corps in the city.
So we scale down our ambitions for the German paratroopers, they will simply help
our panzers advance.

The entire Luftwaffe is called in on the "Cairo Garrison". The odds
aren't great but speed is of the utmost importance.

Success, although I think we risk getting one of our air units overrun in the Allied turn.

Actually not such a great success as the panzers do not have enough OP to advance after combat.

I forgot we had yet another paratrooper in France, it drops and we continue our attack.

Sadly two attacks fail to force a retreat.

Here is the situation at the end of the turn:

At this stage I'm starting to feel confident that we can blitz all of Great Britain before summer is over.
Three infantry corps are railed in from the east.

Meanwhile in Algeria, the Italians are taking over the defense.

Sadly we cannot evacuate from Tobruk, nor bring in reinforcements to Africa,
as all our shipping is busy in England. Such are the sacrifices one must make.
We should be able to spare some next turn.

The German economy is doing well and we build the 9th heavy panzer.

Turn 48: June 20, 1941

Spain joins the Axis. U-boats sink 6 merchants but take 4 step losses.
As predicted our 3rd Tactical is overrun.

In the UK we destroy some weaker units and push between Hull and Manchester.
A couple of interceptors are flown out as bombers and more infantry are brought in.

In Libya we will try to hold Tobruk one more turn.

Germany builds a panzer corps and Romania a division.
I think that will have to do for Germany, we will have a total
of 12 panzer corps!

Spain sets reinforce to max, it has a lot of weak units.

Turn 49: July 4, 1941

Once again our operations are hitting Allied morale! First it was the u-boats,
now it is the paratroopers. Just wait until the Russians meet Mr Panzer!

Tobruk comes under massive assault. We lose 10 steps to 15 for the attackers.
Time to evacuate.

In the UK the British are falling back. This is still our top priority.
We intend to bypass garrisons and rush north as fast as possible.

The "Middle East garrison" puts up stiff resistance, but once it shatters
we are free to blitz Newcastle which only has an extremely weak garrison.

We rush north, dropping one more paratrooper. Edinburgh is just out of reach,
the odds are only 2-1. No further troops are brought in, I think we have it under
control.

The British leave Gibraltar. We'll let the Spanish and Italians garrison everything here
once we occupy Portugal.

Germany builds the 7th Interceptor.

At this point the strategic situation looks good. We will have to secure the British
islands and set up a defense in the Eastern Mediterranean. Then we can focus on our
forces for the spring 1942 offensive...
