You really need to go take a couple of the pills that help you calm down.

By the way, getting back to the topic of the thread, I think that demos are useful in evaluating complicated games like WitP, but only if the design team's time is not wasted by creating them. Screenshots and developer notes can help you understand how the game plays, its scale, and so on.

I've never really analyzed it, but I think I make a decision on buying a computer game based on its subject matter and what I can perceive of the approach the game is taking to it. For example, HOI2 addresses a game subject that is interesting to me, but, from what I understand of the game design, I won't be buying it. The whole concept of clicking on "go," then having to scramble to see what's happening and if I need to click "stop" to give orders lost me way back in the "Carriers at War" days.
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

I was going to buy the game but I balked at the price.

For Canadians the price for WiTP is a whopping:

$120.00 (plus change)

Almost $24.00 for shipping?

It's only a jewel CD case... [8|]

I realize it's a great game, but still...

I've paid $90 CAD for download. Considering average 2 evening game is $50 i think it is well worth the price.

Buy it. Canadian units are in it...a first for a game encompassing the Pacific War I think.

I would like it on the CD.

I only have dialup - so the download would take forever.

Still... $24.00 for shipping?

I have ordered thick books that cost less than that for shipping [&:]

If you enjoy getting away and engulfing yourself in strategy and tactics, then by all means go and buy this. If you are the casual type who can't sit still for more than a few hours don't bother. I swear there has to be something fishy going on at work. The clock ticks alot slower than when I am home in-game trying to set each of my kiwi units to jump on the railways and head to Darwin [:'(] I would have paid $200 for this game. Thank god for Matrix games [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D] Ok , now that i am done, back to over analyzing the costs per hour of computer games.[8|]
It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

I agree with you. I play UV and LOVE it.

And I know WiTP is a great game.

And I knew the game would cost around $100.00.

But why so much for the shipping ($24.00)? It's a quarter of the entire game's cost. After all, it is a slim, light CD jewel case.

And the $120.00 is still BEFORE taxes.

If there was a distributor here in Canada, then most likely the shipping would be free.

After all, Matrix makes NOTHING on the shipping costs, yet it is probably losing sales of the game because of this very issue...

Just think of all the time you have on your hands now that your national sport is cancelled. You would get back your money's worth and then some by the time Lord Stanley's cup would have been raised. [X(]

This game or the old great big fine game pacific-war are a life-style.
It will never find a price.
Because:
A game, that will produced in 1984 and still in progress,
what will it really cost?
I hope, this will the same for witp.

Canadians should definitely buy the game...they need something to do now that the NHL is kaput for one year.

$90 is nothing for a game that required that much time to develop. Compare that to $25 or $30 for Bill Clinton's biography.

I figure I got back at least $90 in geography lessons...for eg., I now know that if I want to go to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) from Perth...I go due North [;)]

Now I can also wow my friends by spelling Toelongebeotoungue and Soorabyeyuh.
