This is the Cruiser/DD action 1 hex east of Eni this turn. Two USN DDs were sunk to only light damage on our side.

No real major Blue on Red stuff this time .. but US activities around Wake look like either invasion or intensive training ... I'll guess invasion .. it may be a turn or so before we know for sure.

Even though our BC force is only 2 hexes away, they cannot engage because they are low on ammo ( 2 -5 rds in forward main gun turrets ).

We do succeed in turning away the DMs who were headed for Eniwetok.

Those Destroyer minelayers we saw a couple of turns back, made their attempt to run into Eniwetok this turn. I guess mining Eniwetok has gotten so popular, even the USN wants to join in ( I'll admit it is a lot of fun !!! ) [:D]

But alas, it wasn't that much fun for the USN DMs, 2 were sunk out-right, the third probably heavily damaged with a long long road back to Pearl.

And the Allied surface forces were absent from Wake this turn, so no invasion yet. Still possibly could be training. Of the three main avenues of advance, only Johnson Is. has been built up to a level 2 port yet, Palmyra, Baker, Midway are all still level 1s.

And we have more stuff on the way, more cruisers and destroyers making there way across the CENPAC towards the Marshalls and the Dreadnought BBs should be able to come out a play soon.

Our biggest immediate problem is a looming fuel shortage in the Marshalls, none of the tanker groups in the SRA have finished filling up yet, so we may have to send some half full.

Slow turn.

To enable us to support a response to a possible US attack on Wake, we will begin building up Marcus. The first baseforce is unloading there now.

A surface action group of 10xODD arrived at Kwajalein, this in conjunction with the Cruiser/DD group we have at Eniwetok, offers 1st line defence of both ports from the USN DDs. A 22 strong cruiser/dd force has just reached Truk this turn and a Cruiser/DD contingent of 10 ships will proceed to Kusaie to back up the 2 forward groups. We will also station some cruiser/dd assets at Saipan to support both Wake and Eniwetok.

Not a lot happening this turn ( 1 USN DD sank off Johnson Is ) ... our advantage remains that we have some repair capability in the Marshalls, but USN still must go back to Pearl as nearest support to counter flooding. So if the ship cannnot control her own flooding she will sink. And we see most of the USN losses happening on the return voyage from combat, several turns later, they sink. These losses do not show up on the daily combat log, but they will be reflected in the monthly stats which I"ll publish again when the month rolls over. Also, thus far all of our heavily damaged ships have been able to control flooding ( to zero ) and depart the Marshalls enroute to home ports. We have about 8 DDs in the pipeline and 4 have actually been repaired down to zero after being damaged.

You have to watch the ASW combat. Most "hits" are near misses that rattles the sub. But if you get a "hits the sub" it is almost always significant damage in not fatal. This happens rarely but it does happen on occassion.

Another "nada-turn" ... we have another Cruiser/DD group ( based out of Kusaie ) approaching Eniwetok from the SW. They will escort in the ML which is circling to the West of Eni.

Also we have the BC group approaching Eni from the NW ( with the AO group in tow ). The 4x14" Dreadnoughts have departed the Home Islands, bound for Saipan. The 2x16" dreadnought will follow in a day or so. This will put about 90% of the combat navy either in the Marshalls or within a few days sail.

Otherwise, typical nada-turn. I guess we anticipate another one of those "heavy" raids, by an ever increasing US Battleline against the Marshalls. We are runnining some quick refits and will try to maintain about 15 to 20 subs on patrol to give warning and to try to put some torps aboard some of the dreadnoughts.

Speaking of another of those "heavy raids" ... heeeeere comes johnnie !!

Looks like a hum-dinger with DDs and Minesweepers and lots of BBs !!!

We're evac-ing the damaged ships and the support ships ( and even the ASW DDs ) out of Eniwetok and will face the monsters with 2 Cruiser/dd groups ... the BC group will remain 3 hexes to the NW but will not engage ... the 4x14" dreadnoughts have topped off at Saipan and are proceeding to the area. The 3x16" BBs are enroute to Saipan. In about a week ( in time for the "next" big raid ... maybe we will have all our dreadnoughts in the area ).

In the mean time we've been able to bring new loads of supply to Kwajalein, Wotje and Jaluit on board 2500t Aks without loss ! A few of these will start operating from Kusaie to enhance supply deliveries to the forward Marshall Islands.
