Just catching up on this fascinating AAR. There was once a player named seydlitz and he activated the Soviets in a planned move in IIRC mid-December 41. IIRC again it was around the time AE first came out. Scenario 1, no mods. Don, seydlitz, did an AAR called Nomonhan Redux. The gambit failed and it was Don's opinion that the game engine simply wasn't up to the task of having the Sovs active that early. It appears, given that you are doing remarkably well considering the stiff odds against you, that he was wrong.[:)] Brilliant so far

I am teetering, and will be for a bit yet. I need Nicks, production will be 100 per month, and the A6M3 to really start to turn the tide.

That's a lot of Nicks. For perspective, I've never produced more than 45/mo (which turned out to be a surplus) of any one model. You'll be using them far more as they're quite obviously your best early hope at stopping bombers.

No room for Judy-4 in your R&D plans?

I plan on converting every light bomber squadron I can to fighter bombers...and I will also be using them in the bombing/strafing role. I too, have never built this many.

Grace, no Judy 4.

Against the early SOV airforce they should be effective ... also against the SOV navy. That's a lot of PP's though ...

PS: doing the same thing in my current game. I'm not far ahead of and the way you get turns I will be behind you shortly, so I will be able to watch you and adjust. [;)]

Now, there Yak you spoiled my surprise for Pax.
Not quite surprise, but say that it will something that I cannot ignore further. [:(]

I have heard about this before but have been able to avoid using it because it was 'rumor'. Now, I am afraid will find it difficult not to use this 'feature', particularly with high SR groups. [:o]

March 14th, 1942

No night combat at Palembang other than sub clashes, and very little of that. Allied subs primarily seem to have moved off chasing the crippled cruiser around Singkawang.

The morning starts with a nice air raid in bad weather on the Soviets.

Over in the west, some Nells catch a few of the massive amount of Allied shipping in and around Singers.

Nicks and PPs...well then, I really won't be expending any from China.

The complete resupply of Singers and threatening of Palembang have changed the entire focus of the Japanese assault into the area.

Rather, Singers will be held, but all troops I can spare will invade Java. I have Denpasar already and will prosecute the normal split Java in half, take the easier of the two (Soerabaja or Batavia) and look to take the rest of the island before moving back for the very, very long siege of Singapore.

To take Singers now, I need to be able to bomb the runways or ports...something I will not be in position to do until June or July most likely without paying a horrendous price elsewhere in this global war.

Playing with fixed arrival, I get days like this.

I cannot tell you how important these troops are. They are so needed. This batch will almost all be going to SRA.

Heck,no. We are moving forward.

Which is why I'd sail around to the north and drop some troops at Padang to march on Benkoelen, while dropping more troops at Palembang. If you finish off the rest of Sumatra, he can't do anything about the troops at Singapore and you'll starve them out. Trickle your guys across the causeway so as not to cause shock attacks.

Bomb the LI at Singapore if you can.

He is dangerously committed here.

Soviets air force active bombing again...force a retreat here at 2-1 odds.

Deliberate attacks at Lashio and Wenchow fail to take the base.

4th Division continues to be flown into Palembang, and the AV there climbs over 200.

Working on counter stroke here...
