We were practicing, but the Air Force guys took care of it.   And then I became a civilian.  Ahhh, memories.

I actually went though a phase in life once after visiting the HMS Grafton. I was seriously thinking about changing citizenship and enlist in the RN... thank good that I thought things through [&o][;)]

You can not tell a forum members "credentials" by his name (in the forum), and certainly NOT by his/her contributions to the forum.
Some of the more outspoken critics and historians have never served a day, and often only read books totally inaccurate to true event.
On the other hand, sometimes persons who wore a uniform, (but were never involved in action) are given more credance than those who were.Any book by S.L.A.Marshall is rife with fiction.
