Though... this was not Russian movie per-se... it was only about Russians in Afganistan... (I think some "augmented" Augusta helicopeters were used to mimic Mi-24 BTW)...

Well it was hazardus to take part in the old WWII USSR movies in one of them they the were filming a russian tank attack so they moved a Tank Battalion on the scean and order it to move... while the tanks started to roll a artilery battery opened up with live ammo and tryed to hit spaces between the tanks... i heard they got some wounded down there...[X(]

Cross of iron is worth watching if you see a cheap copy or catch it on TV sometime. It's a tad moralistic but very grim and gritty, set in the crimea in '44 and its based on a squad of german infantry. poor sods get clobbered [;)]. makes a change from an allied perspective war flick.
