I am waiting for this game also....hoping that it doesn't have starfarce for the copyright protection.

Right now reading: Silversides
In the past three months I have read the other WWII Pacific war sub books:

Clear The Bridge by O'Kane (Tang) (great book)
Wahoo by O'Kane (Wahoo) (great book, although we now know the truth about how Wahoo died, but still great. Easier read than Tang book)
Thunder Below by Fluckey (Barb) (very good read)
Cruisers for Breakfast by Mansfield (Darter and Dace) Fair read. Glad to finish it....least enjoyed of the books due to author's style.
Luck of the Draw by Ruiz (Pollack) <very interesting tale. This sub always did her best to kill her own men by malfunctions at critical times and then miraculously saved them at the last minute> good read
Submarine Diary by Mendenhall (Sculpin and Pintado) good read
?? The book on the Halibut by Galantin (good read)
Red Scorpion by Sasgen (Rasher) good read

I have in que to read after I finish Silversides:
USS Pampanito Killer Angel by Michino
Silent Running by Calvert (USS Jack)
Silent Victory by Clair Blair (Anthology...good read though controversial)

I am watching ebay for a copy of War Fish by George Grider (Flasher).

So, as you can imagine, I am pumped. And my witp opponents wonder why I put so much effort into my sub campaigns.

E-Bay......
I have been able to find many books on ebay (most very cheap btw) that I have always wanted to own.
I routinely browse the books category on ebay looking for books on sub warfare that I do not have. Most of these were all xmas gifts this year from my wife. I found them on ebay, marked the auctions, and she got them for me. The only condition was that I read them.

Yeah, we will have to set up a SubRon after we both get SH4.

Everytime one of my Allied subs shoots torpedos at a Jap AI ship and
misses, I wish I had SH4 to jump into the sub myself and conduct the
attack. I KNOW I would most always do better than the game does.
Maybe the 2by3 team can add some tactical game to WITP like
Pacific Storm did. NOW that would be a game to play.....( don't mean PS,
their first attempt is alittle buggy)

JIM

soon if u like u can get that chance!

i cannot wait!

I'll probably get SH4 but I was disappointed with SH3, which was a bit buggy when released. One big problem I had with the game was that you were the only U-Boat in the Atlantic, so when attacking a convoy there was nothing to occupy the escorts with elsewhere and you would get 100% attention from them. OK for 1940, less so in 1943!

A few books on US Submarines in the Pacific which I have read and enjoyed:

- Shinano! The Sinking of Japan's Secret Supership, by Captain Joseph F. Enright, USN, with James W. Ryan

- Batfish the Champion Submarine-Killer by Hughston E. And Jack Scott Lowder

- War in the Boats: My WWII Submarine Battles by William J. Ruhe

All out of print now I believe but well worth reading; a library should be able to get them if you can't find them second hand.
[/font]
While the battles the British fight may differ in the widest possible ways, they invariably have two common characteristics – they are always fought uphill and always at the junction of two or more map sheets.

Well if SH2 and 3 are anything to go by it will need 3 patches to make it playable.

Well??? Anyone having fun with Silent Hunter 4??? Mine will usually run through the opening videos OK then when I choose to do anything it always freezes forcing a reboot.
