Any Screenshots?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

which bombers or fighters take damage, and if damaged, most will leave the safety of the group, and head for home

the AI is very good about changing targets and picking on the cripples

the little red boxes are the Bomber cripples headed for home, the little blue boxes are the damaged or out of fuel Axis fighters, also running for home

in the old game, once you change color, you were dead meat, now, units heading home, can defend themselfs and got a chance to even pick a fight if they spot a enemy plane

which I must say, some strange die rolls, the Balt is one plane, the Allies really, do not want to be intercepted in any strength, they are normally very weak and do not defend well

Hi HS

Would Harley mind if you showed us some more plane sides? You put me on a Whirlwind squadron, so may I see one of those, please?

not sure if it is bigger or more monsterous, but it is pretty much WitP grandad

with the ground war more abstact then WitP

but it is a long game and can be as long or HARD a turn as you want it to be

if you want to mircomanger everything, it can be done, but it can also be done with very little mircoing, depends on what you like

(and just in case, I have played lots of BoB and BTR as well as UV and WitP, and there grandaddies too)

Blimey, you have got special Lancs!

You also have the nasty Beaufighter IIF. Will the increased accident rate for that marque be modelled?

Thanks very much, btw HS. You have made an impatient fan very happy again. [:)]

just in case, not all Artwork is used right now, but it does have a chance to be added in later

but we do have the Sp Lanc (but for the 12,000 not the dam buster)

which right now, we are using the normal Lanc III art with the stats for the Sp

the trouble being, if I made a model for the SP, then we get too many of them and the player may use them to arm other squadrons (which is not something that should be happening), or if I make it a short run model, and the player runs into some bad luck, they run out of planes

THX a LOT. For me the end of WITP was the necessity to MM EVERYTHING literally on the half of the globe. Are the missions interactive with land/sea warfare (I know they have to be abstracted )?

well

we do not really have any Sea action, we have Ports, but most of the Ports are for supply and import of goods

we do have land units, and Air Power can effect ground combat, bombing them can cause distrupsion, which lower Eff, but, you never know when the Ground battles are going to take place

you can try and cut the supply to the front line and you can bomb Factories that make Tanks and Arty for the ground troops

(but for the most part, Ground Troops are Flak Traps, but you can break the line in Normady with Airpower, if you really work at it)

for MM, you can do as much or as little as you want, in these games, you do not have to set up supply runs and stuff like that, so most of the MM is for combat, not for keeping the troops fed

you can change plane types yourself, or the AI will do it when it gets enough and the upgrade path is correct

Hard Sarge,
Thank you much for the awesome screens. [8D]

The more I read about this game and the more you show us the more I want it. [:D]

It will be great to add this one to my collection of awesome games Matrix has turned out.

Later,
KayBay

What about putting Special Lancs on a of a unique ugrade path and only put 617 Squadron on that path?? That way you could have as many aircraft as you needed and only 617 could draw them.
Cheers,
Reg.

it would be nice, and I have talked about it, but the upgrade path is not based on the unit, it is based on the plane

so if Plane A is in unit 1, it will upgrade to what ever Plane A should, so , any unit with Plane A will follow the same path

now, so saying, I can, control the Unit itself, I could say, give a unit 3 drop tanks, while the default plane only carries one, any plane that joins this unit will have 3 tanks, any plane going to another unit will only have one, but the hassle comes in, is if the player decided to change planes, then that goes back to the default

so, that is the Idea with Sps, the unit is set up with the Guns and Bomb load, but it pulls standard models into the unit and changes them to the unit standard (only hassle is, the art does not change over)

(by the way, I think it is 617 and 9 Squadron that should fly with the Sps)

(this is something like what we have done with the "Paks" for the Axis planes, old game, if you wanted 109G6/R6s you had to build them, which basicly meant you got more then you want, hanging around in the stockpile, while you are short of 109G6s, our game, you build 109G6s, and then can change them to carry the Paks, making them R6s, the game knows to supply this unit with basic 109G6s, and the unit then adds the extra guns)

(I hope I am not overtalking, at times, I can confuse more then explain something, once I get on a roll)

Perfectly well explained. Also, you are right about 9 sqd - first Tallboy mission 15 Sept 1944 for which you need a special Lanc (never dropped Grand slam, but I don't think you've got them?)
I have a cunning plan, My Lord
