KB in Wake

Post by Bombur »

-P-40´s flying CAP over Manila surprised our Zeroes by shooting down 4 of them, while suffering 6 losses. Numerical superiority of A6M2 was only 3:1 this time.
-KB located a large reinforcement group near Wake, causing heavy damage to enemy ships. The few F4F´s defending the Island suffered in the hands of Zeroes.
-Overall A2A score up to now is 88 vs 15 (5,86:1). Seems close to that obtained by Nik v9.1 (which I´m playing vs. Spruance). Air combat seems more chaotic and numbers seem to player a big role in this mod.

RE: KB in Wake

Post by Bombur »

-The naval battle of Wake ended in a tatical victory for the Japanese forces, however the invasion was called off, as air recon detected a full brigade, of even a Marine division in the Island. Most of the ships which brought that unit will never fight again, but they accomplished their mission....In Singapore, Japanese bombers are staring to suffer heavy losses due to flak concentration.

It´s early January and the Japanese offensive is going as planned, except for Wake. Admiralty Is. was captured today. The air raids against Singapore are giving mixed results. While 3-10 enemy planes are being destroyed every day, and their land losses are heavy too, the airfield suffered little damage and losses of Ki-21´s are worrying. About 2 planes are being shot down by the deadly AA guns in every mission against Singapore. The fall of Malacca has blocked the retreat of one allied unit. This means that we will have a few less warriors defending Singapore. One armored unit reached Kuanan and the city will fall soon.

Tokyo, 06/01/42

Emperor Bombur: What are the news?
Yamamoto: Al is going as planned. Our troops are at the gates of Singapore. Clark field will fall in days and Rabaul is under already under siege, but......
Emperor Bombur:but....
Yamamoto: Well, we detected enemy units in Marcus Islands. A group of PT´s attacked our supply ships. There were no causalties, but we fear the enemy will attempt a counteroffensive in Central Pacific
Emperor Bombur: In that case we can detroy their fleet, right???
Yamamoto: Hopefully, but it will force our main units to stop the offensive against SRA. these are not good news....

-For the second day in a row our bombers failed to attack Singapore. Low morale is probably an issue. The air defenses over Manila are gone. Japan has a 131:19 (6,5:1) advantage in A2A, but it seems to be more related to piecemal engagements where Japan holds a 3:1 to 20:1 numerical advantage. Japanese troops disembarked in Brunei
