I'm starting a website:

www.fireoakdalescoach.com

A late season stretch collapse last year, and this year they're cellar dwllers. Tie the can to this chump.

I might burn my Nightbirds jersey if they don't turn it around.
It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum... and I'm all outta gum.

Ok that caps a stunning season. Now, I'll be taking a break for about a month and a half (or less) and then will return to begin season three. Meanwhile, I'll be posting a few coaching changes and the draft results. Plus updating a few team profiles. Stay tuned.

Three teams just hired new head coaches. Who are they?

Also added a portrait of each fictional team's coach to their locker room page.

Enjoy.

Season 3 schedule just released.

Once at site click on schedule link for a quick look.

It's been a busy, but fun offseason. Things are shaping up nicely for the league. Here's a quick summary of some things that have been accomplished this offseason...

- Teams now have coaching personalities by way of the playbooks. Also, I've devised a simple system for hiring and firing coaches, as well. (Click on 'About Metros' link to read more about this.)

- Expansion by two additional teams have evened out the conferences and made it possible to eliminate the bye weeks. (Hooray!) Plus, the league gets an eleven game schedule, which makes since, because with the byes the league was going eleven weeks anyway. The only thing is that some teams get six home games while others get five. However, the schedule will be flipped from season to season, so teams with five home games one season get the six the next season.

- Rosters have been standardized. (Click on 'About Metros' link to read more about this.)

- Team profiles have been customized to address team needs during the rookie draft. (Click on 'About Metros' link to read more about this.)

Here are some other things I thought about...

What about adding divisions? - Nah. I want the season to be relevant, meaningful and to decide the conference champions. That's why the season is played. So, I'll never be adding divisions.

How about playoff expansion? - I thought about inviting two additional teams to the Metro Bowl playoffs thus eliminating the bye. But I decided to stick with what I have. I love how making the playoffs in the MFL is not easy. In fact, it's a major accomplishment. Also, the bye is a reward for the conference champions. Although, I must admit, the bye has seemingly meant zip over the past two seasons. Anyway, perhaps in the future I'll revisit playoff expansion.

I hope to start season 3 sometime next week.

Well, I for one am going to go out and buy me a Seaside Invaders jersey. I don't hold much hope for them the next few years, but maybe after a couple of high drafts picks they can make it to the playoffs. After that, who knows! Metro Bowl Champs for season 8?! Season 9? Hey, maybe they can put together a real team by season 5!

Either way... GO 'VADERS!

Sweet!

jdhalfrack, you'll be the Invaders official fan club.

Also, you'll be happy to know that I watched an unofficial exhibition game between the expansion teams and the Invaders beat the Comets 17-10 in Bay City.

Hey hey! That's a good sign! Too bad they won't play against each other in the regular season. There's always Crestfeld and St. Cruze, though. I'd be happy with a 2-9 or 3-8 season to start off their Metro Football tenure. Can't wait for the season to start!
