I'm enjoying War Plan Pacific, but this game maybe the game that's between WPP and WitP.Which IMO, would be my perfect naval wargame. Not to mention the fact you get atlantic AND the Medittaranian.(I know I spelled it wrong)

Looks like silly, "Gee, Ma, looky my new toy," mod-happy BS to me. (But, of course, who am I?)

I guess I'll wait and see if the new japped-up WitP mod is at all interesting, but I ain't optimistic.

I have no affiliation with NWS.

G'day all, This game ships today, this is third game I have bought in the past 12 months due to the manual being released prior to the game. I was happy with the other two and I hope SAS will prove the same satisfying result.
I believe there is some merit in a pre release of a manual to enhance game sales. I have purchased this game purely on the way the manual has been written and the content within. The game appears to be quite detailed. I have read most of the posts and all the info on the games home page, all that info certainly encouraged me to take a closer look, and I was going to wait for the game to be released and read posters comments before purchasing, but after reading manual I purchased the game immediately as I was so impressed on what I saw.
Other publishers should take a leaf out of NWS and AGEOD marketing strategy, and they may increase their sales.
Good manuals will sell more games, in our favoured genre.
Would be interested to hear your views.

Happy New Year JD, Well in my opinion the game is off to a good start, an excellent manual easy to read, I think I have a good understanding of the game mechanics and I haven't got the game yet. I once got a CM installment not sure which one in five days by USP to Oz, I hope this game come that quickly.

i wouldve thought all u witp players would have been all over this upcomin release[&:]

Dunno, according to the manual it doesn't look like a WitP-Killer to me. Rather boring, with too much text and too less immersion. But for sure I will wait with my final verdict till I have seen some reviews.

Text! there certainly appears to be a lot less text in SAS vs WITP

I also downloaded the 500+ page manual and am also very impressed. I agree that it's a great marketing tool. Matrix ought to consider putting all their manuals up for download. I think it's a safer business strategy than issuing free demos of the actual game and a lot easier to do.

Good point, downloading the rulebook for GMT's Combat Commander series has led me to purchase the entire series.

History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

WitP isn't a bad thing but its complexity and dedication are lengendary.

For anyone who has played a WitP grand campaign game to completion, its quite the accomplishment.

It took nearly two years of PBEM to go from December 7th, 1941 to the end of my game in May, 1944. And in that process, I had more notes, tables, graphs and organization aides than I do for anything at work! [:D]

But once you play WitP that much, its hard to go to anything else . . .
