Turn Thirteen, July 1862. Well...it's turn 13. Let's see what kind of luck Erik and I will have. Are you superstitious?[;)]

RE: Yankee go home! (Erik Rutins not allowed)
Turn Thirteen, July 1862 continued. The Union only had Scott (TC in the West) and Butler (AC in the East) gain initiative this turn. Butler has decided to sit still in Franklin, knowing that if he attacks, he would be doing so without support from McClellan, and liable to bear the full brunt of Lee's probable reaction. Erik is having some very bad luck with initiative. The results of the battles and some midturn commentary are in this screenshot.

Strike for the South, our cause is Just and Holy!
To arms, to arms, to arms, in Dixie!
I'd rather make love to a rabid goat than be a yankee!

Turn Fourteen, August 1862. This screenshot is of the start of the turn, during the Confederate Reaction Phase with the results of the battles I launched last turn, and the usual commentary.

RE: Yankee go home! (Erik Rutins not allowed)
Turn Fourteen, August 1862 continued. The result of Butler and Lee fighting over Staunton was a pyrrhic victory for Lee. He lost more men, but sent Butler back with his tail between his legs.
It's worth noting that the PP differential mentioned in the above post is reflective of the second Union Draft for this year. Erik had no drafts in 1861, but has had back to back drafts this year.

Turn Fifteen, September 1862. This screenshot shows the results of the 2nd Battle of Paducah. As expected, Grant did win, but the constant pressure there is wreaking havoc with Erik's plans to take Kentucky in 1862, or to invade Tennessee. As you can see from Grant's attack at Bowling Green, he is trying to get by on the cheap, since so many of his troops are still tied down in Paducah.

Turn Fifteen, September 1862 continued. The results of the battles in the Eastern Theater. Confederates won them both, but Lee is ill and will be out for four months. What's that about the best laid plans of mice and men?

Turn Fifteen, September 1862 continued. The results from Grant vs Beauregard at Bowling Green. Looks like I might need to send Beauregard back East to command the ANV.

I wouldn't mind taking you up on the game after I'm finished with the one that I'm playing with Erik. My plate is kind of full right now, but I would love to play you when I've got enough room to throw another slab of fresh meat on it...[;)]
That said, I don't want to play with the limited command at the moment. Not because I think I can't handle it, but because about half my turns are played on my laptop and the touchpad on it is hyper-sensitive. The UI for this game is tweaky enough with the control offered by a mouse, but if I wasn't able to undo all the moves and merges that are made by mistake and ended up suffering for them by the loss of Cmd, then I would probably get extremely frustrated (instead of just mildly peeved) with the UI of the game. However, if I get a little more practiced at the UI, and buy a new mouse for my laptop, I might be willing to try it.
As far as sides go, I wouldn't mind trying my hand at the USA, too. When Erik and I finish, then we'll evaluate everything, and put something together, one way or another. Deal?

RE: Yankee go home! (Erik Rutins not allowed)
Turn Sixteen, October 1862 continued. Here are the results. Overall, poor results for the Union. Erik needs to either start stretching me further than he has, or moving in greater strength when he does. However, too few battles, and too few men committed is costing him time, and manpower, neither of which he has in infinite abundance. There must be talk in Washington these days, with the midterm elections coming up, about more sweeping changes in 1864, and I'm sure Lincoln is worried...

RE: Yankee go home! (Erik Rutins not allowed)
Maybe the right strategy is for the Union to aspire to bleed the Confederacy and not worry excessively about victories the first year or two. But so far Erik seems to be accomplishing neither.[;)]

Turn Sixteen, October 1862 continued. The final SitRep screenshot for the southern half of the Confederacy. It looks like Erik is trying to soften my defenses near New Orleans.
