LET'S DO THIS

Ok class dismissed.
You are all ready for your first assignment. If you still feel somewhat insecure, I will be here all through the war, and just to help you along.

I will also play a game with the settings posted at the start of this thread, and posts a few screenshots of what I do, and as usual comment on why.

AAR - Turn 1 completed

Image

It would seem some of my generals had a too high an oppinion about themselves. Well I was more than aware that this might happen, but my boys will be better off anyway. These generals were a menace to my fighting men!

I built one Camp in Florida, and a barrack in Richmond on turn 1, and moved all my units as listed at the start of this thread. I also mustered in every city that had the population to support it, and a governor that was sympathetic to my needs. This raised 10 brigades, a good result indeed.

No major engagement occured, only a minor skirmish between some 2500 CSA troops against some 12000 Union men just outside the city of Cairo, our troops withdrew in good order and without any losses.

Apologies are in order

Sorry if I have confused you this far. I am used to playing with a few more options in place, and forgot that we are playing without Governors in this game. This means that all talk about governors supporting the muster should be disregarded.

Truely sorry for any confusion caused by this.

Turn 2

I built two mines and a camp in Florida as mentioned earlier in this thread, and I continued forming and arming my forces.

No engagement of any sorts anywere.

Turn 3

This turn saw the construction of two mines and a camp, as well as the continued arming of my forces.

this turn the Union felt confident and attacked my Army of Virginia under Lee. Some 80.000 Southern men faced some 70.000 Union troops under Meade, the Union reinforced their forces with some 50.000 more troops. General Lee was so confident in the ability and chose not to send for general Jackson's Corps.

Turn 4

Two mines, one camp in Texas and two armories were built this turn. The arming of our lads continued, and the only combat that took place was the Union 20th Div under Orme (10.000 men) that started a siege against Ft. Pillow. Grant is expected to move his army of some additional 50.000 men south to support this siege. Army of the West (120.000 men) will move to break the siege.

Lost one of our runners this turn. This will slow down the arming of our forces somewhat.

Turn 5

Jackson's Corps is ordered to place Grafton back in Southern hands as it should be.
J.E.Johnston's Army of the West is ordered to relieve the besieged men at Ft. Pillow, and brings his entire army of some 120.000 men, as it is expected that Grant will bring his army into this struggle as well.

Due to the need to rapidly arm Johnston's army, no camps were constructed this turn. Construction were as follows, two mines and a barrack in Richmond, which when completed will allow us to build new armies.

McClellan attacked Lee's Army of Virginia. At the start of the battle, the Union brought some 13.000 men against Lee's 88.000. The Union does however have 3 armies and a corps available to reinforce the battlefield.

In the West, as expected Grant came to the aid of Orme, but the Union fled before the battle had even started.

The upside of this turns battles were the fact that we now hold a celebrity as a prisoner, and that we managed to capture a few more Union brigades.

Turn 6

Ordered the construction of a training ground in Norfolk and one in Petersburg. All available arms and money are spent on the continued arming of our (currently un)armed forces.

Central Army under A.S.Johnston is ordered to move from Knoxville to Abington, and Jackson's Corps is ordered to retake Parkersburg.

Turn 7

Arming of our armies continues. We ordered no offensive actions this turn, the state of Texas was charged with starting to construct another two camps, and the city of Jackson will deliver a Corps container to be placed into The Army of the West.

Our research paid of, and we went with Line marching this will allow our units to move further while in line formation. That should prove effective.

Turn 8

Another turn were our armies are ordered to stay put. We are not quite clear to start our push against the Union just yet, arming should be completed next turn.

Florida was ordered to build a camp, and the cities of Richmond, Norfolk and Charleston have all been tasked with providing the CSA with one division container each.

Rumor has it the the Union has developed an improved way of producing weapons, allowing their armories to produce extra arms every turn.

Kentucky finally decided were their symphaties lay, unfortunately it was with the Union. [X(]

Turn 9

Jackson's Corps has been issued orders to retake the city of Wheeling, and the war ministry reports that all brigades have now been issued weapons.

The state of Texas has agreed to build another two camps, and the city of Richmond will build an army container, sonething that should please Beauregard as he is named to take command. The city of Jackson will produce yet another corps, the city of Norfolk will produce another division, and the people of Memphis are producing a CAV brigade.

The Union seems to have found their will to fight, and attacked with two armies in Fredricksburg, a total of 43.000 men against Lee's 113.000.
After reinforcing the Union had 49 brigades engaged oposing our 42. Lee dug in on top of a small hill, and let the Union throw themself on his prepared position with heavy casualties. The Union lost 8770 men and we lost 3769 men.

In Hatcie a Union army under Grant (63.000 men/32 brigades) attacked Army of the West under Johnston (121.000 men/44 brigades). The Union suffered a heavy loss with 12.561 casualties to our 4291.

During these two battles we captured 41 Union brigades, as well as 13 generals. Of the captured brigades, two were artillery which will now serve in our army, and one of the captured brigades were cavalry, and the captured horses will now help us in the war effort. Of the generals captured, the most notable was G.H. Thomas, G.G. Meade, O.O. Howard and W.S.Hancock.

Even the Union war machinery will feel the impact of these battles.

Turn 10

Construction orders that were given, were;
-4 mines
-a camp in Florida
-CAVs in Norfolk and Charleston.

Our spies reported that the Union scientists have made progress lately, and developed a new kind of naval vessels that travel under the sea, and a doctrine they call aggressive raiders.

The Union commanders must have been order to attack at all costs, because they suddenly lunged out, Grant moving his army towards Memphis, a lone division captured the unprotected city of Knoxville, and a division landed in Raleigh.

Our forces have reorganized and as such have been static. Of the 3 Union attacks the one in Memphis holds the highest priority.

Turn 11
Our provinces were told to produce the following;
-2 camps in Texas
-1 Infantry brigade in Lynchburg.

Grant started the siege on Island #10, but Johnston's Army of the West has been ordered to attack Grants army.
When we arrived on the scene we discovered that Grant could only bring 10 brigades for a total of 19.000 men to battle Johnston's 45 brigades with 125.000 men. The battle was swift, and the only thing we can praise the Union army about is their will to attack against such odds. After the smoke lifted, the Union had suffered 5617 casualties to our 685. More importantly 9 of the Union brigades were captured, as were 9 generals amongst them, Grant himself.

The Union division that captured Knoxville earlier now captured the unprotected city of Chattanooga. This division must be hunted down and forced out of the Confederacy. The Union invasion force in Raleigh was reinforced so that there are now two divisions there, that suggests that our defences there will soon fall, and something must be done in regards to this.

Turn 12

The economy department claims that we are running low on horses, this must be corrected!
So our construction orders are as follows:
-a camp in Florida
-2 horse farms
-an academy
-an armory
-a division in Jackson
-a corps in Richmond

The orders for our armed forces are as follows:
-Central Army is to retake Knoxville
-Jackson's Corps is to capture Kenhawa

While some of the older generals claims that our research funding should be aplied directly to our armed forces, our scientist reported that they have found a new way to use our cavalry brigades on the battlefield. This breakthrough they call Dragoon Tactics and is supposed to make our CAV brigades alot more powerful.

Turn 13

Well the good news first, Jackson drove the Union out of Kenhawa! However the garrison in Ft. Morgan could take no more and surrendered, allowing the Union to capture the city of Raleigh.
Jackson has been ordered to move to Lynchburg were he will be in position to attack the Union in Raleigh as soon as possible. Our Central Army has been ordered to lay siege to Knoxville and retake the city, and Army of the West has been issued orderes to take the fight to the Union, and will move towards Cairo.

Due to our continued lack of horses, our provinces are ordered to build the following:
-2 horse farms
-2 armories
-2 camps in Texas

Our scientist continue to produce marvels, they now report to have constructed a new gun that should forever change warfair. The gun is named Spencer, and hopefully it will be as powerful as the scientists report.

Turn 14

The Union has suffered two more losses, be sure to tell everyone!
In Cairo our Army of the West (119.000 men) engaged what was once Grant's army with 13.900 men. When the smoke lifted from the battlefield, 6718 Union troops lay dead as to our 1351 men lost. 2 of the Union brigades surrendered, as did 3 of their generals.
The two invading Union divisions moved from Raleigh and started to move towards Kentucky, but was intercepted by Jackson in Abington. Jackson moving without cavalry however made his presence known a little too soon, and only one of the Northern divisions were present at the field of battle, thankfully they called for the other division, allowing General Jackson an oppertunity to take out both divisions. 12.800 Union troops faced Jackson's 51.100, and the battle was soon over. General Jackson reports to have taken 1365 casualties, and to have caused 4742 casualties on the Union as well as to have captured 8 Union brigades.

Central Army will continue their siege on Knoxville, Army of the West will lay siege to Cairo, and Jackson is to retake Raleigh.

The different governors claims to have issued orders to build the following:
-a camp in Florida
-2 horse farms
-1 academy

And our scientists have told us that when idle, our boys should train their shooting abilities, this they call Target Practice I

Our spies reports that the Union also use scientists, and that their units are training to march in line, and that their artillery units are capable of firing over their own units. (Union recieve Indirect fire and Line marching)
