anyone at matrix still have up to date code?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Chief, what's with the name change? I'm getting too old to keep track of AKA's. But as long as you're not MIA I won't have to call the CIA to find you. [:)]

So, I actually played a few turns of the game last night and realized how much I've forgotten. I have what I assume is the enhanced 8.4 on my machine. How many new versions since January 07? I need to get myself up-to-date.
Retreat is NOT an option.

Maybe MG could call Ubisoft, and ask for public release of the code? If we ask MG nicely enough to make the call... [;)]

IIRC (again) I believe at one point Ubisoft may have been approached by a group of community members a good while back about the code...but never heard back from the company. Don't quote me on that one though.[;)] I'm sure it probably would take something along the lines of MG having to inquire to get some sort of reply out of the folks at Ubisoft.
If Matrix can get enough force behind it, Ubisoft just might surrender the code. 2by3 consists of former heads of former SSI, so they could be good back up.

Goblin, have you talked about this with Marc, Erik, and others yet?
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

So, do I take this to mean that Mike IS interested in making further code tweaks?

Not That I am aware of, last I spoke with him, he was working on tweaking the OOB editor but, he had no 'up to date' verison of the code, it was lost in his computer blow up IIRC, and his compiler for said code would not work on his newer computers, now i dont know what an 'up to date' version of the code means, nor do I have a clue what a compiler is...I just put out the question because I wanted to know

Nice to dream about but I can't see Ubisoft doing that without demanding something in the way of compensation in return for releasing the code (provided they still have it in some vault somewhere). As much as they appreciate our patronage MG certainly wouldn't put up $ for a transaction that would in reality net them nothing.[;)]

Maybe I'm just biased because Ubisoft isn't one of my favorite game makers...their support for their products is absolutely horrible in my opinion...so my take on them being "nice enough" to release the code for nothing in return seems far fetched.

Besides...if Ubisoft continues to release any more bug-filled games and then do little to nothing to fix them...they will need all the money they can get! [:D]

Oh come on! Farcry isn't that bad, and I might call it better than Quake 4. Liked Ghost Recon serie too. I've been told that IL-2 Sturmovik serie are best WW2 era combat flight sims ever. Pacific Fighters... what's that? [:'(]

I also like the Brothers in Arms series, which I'm pretty sure is an Ubi game...and some of the Rainbow Six series aren't bad.

Alby!!
‘up to date’ version of code, at worst code for the last release.
Compiler – it was a Watcom C compiler. This could run on a 32 bit computer and possibly under Win 95/SE/NT/2000 and presumably the 32 bit version of XP.
Since I would presume Mike ended up with a 64 bit machine and running Vista it will not work, though it would have issues running on a Duo Intel even at a 32 bit basis due to the age of the Watcom compiler.
The SPWAW code is Watcom specific so it is not going to be easy to move it to any modern compiler.
