The World Champion Chicago Cubs {5-13} are in last place, doing a terrible 3-8 on the road.
American League
The Philadelphia Athletics {12-5} are in 1st place, just 0.5 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers {11-5}.

I'm contemplating abandoning this report. I'm not going to drop the association but I'm probably not going to be taking it as seriously as I was or playing it as much. It's a tough decision, though, since I'm so obsessive, anal-retentive, and hate to leave anything uncompleted. At the present time, my enthusiasm has been overshadowed by my frustration. Maybe if I just take a few days off I will get the fever again, and risk running into the issues I've been having with the game.

I'm already going through withdrawal! [:D] I could probably be placated with some more screenshots of the new game. [;)] Lately I've been doing a lot of analyzing and learning about baseball in general, resulting in some of my questions on this forum, and all it makes me want to do is play again! Maybe a couple days off will be enough. There's just something about Puresim that always makes me want to start the next game in the season, just to see what my team is going to do, or not do as the case usually is for me. I still think I can turn this Brooklyn team around. Maybe I'll compromise: if my team is winning I won't touch any player cards and mess around with the lineup card too much, just in case I cause it to lock up. However, if I'm losing, well....

Well, I've decided to jump right back in. Thanks to some advice from KG, which mostly came down to 'Leave the player cards alone during the game!' I think I can avoid any lockups. [:D] I realize that scouring player cards during a game isn't going to make a difference between a win and a loss so now that I can handle that I can just get back to having a good time!

The Pittsburgh Pirates {52-20} had another good month, going 13-7 on the road to maintain their 1st place position by 11 games. The Cincinnati Reds {41-31} had an incredible 20-7 June, including 17-6 at home, to move from 5th place to 2nd. Our Brooklyn Superbas {27-43} are no longer the worst team in baseball, but are still in last place in the National League. The Chicago Cubs {34-38} also turned up the power, as they moved from 7th place to 4th place. The New York Giants {32-38} dropped from 3rd place to 5th, mostly due to an unimpressive 6-14 road record. The Boston Doves {30-38} spent the whole month on the road, though it wasn't a good month. They lost 16 and won only 7 to drop from 2nd place to 7th place.
American League
The Detroit Tigers {43-27} maintain their 1.5 game lead of the Philadelphia Athletics {41-28}. The Chicago White Sox {27-46} had another miserable month, 9-18, including 7-14 on the road, to fall further into last place.

The Pittsburgh Pirates {69-28} continue to dominate the National League with a 17-8 record for the month, going 10-5 on the road and 7-3 at home. They now lead the 2nd place Cincinnati Reds {56-42} by 13.5 games. Our Brooklyn Superbas {37-60} probably won't be seeing the World Series this year, losing almost twice as many games on the road this month as we won (7-13). The World Champion Chicago Cubs {49-49} had a July road record of 10-5 to maintain their hold on 4th place. The Boston Doves {42-53} switched places with the St. Louis Cardinals {43-55}, moving into 6th place, helped by St. Louis's atrocious road performance of 7-13.
American League
The Detroit Tigers {60-37} won 14 out of 19 home games in July to increase their lead over the Philadelphia Athletics {53-44} to 7 games. The New York Highlanders {48-49} won 2/3 of their July home games to climb from 7th to 5th place. Nothing else of note occurred in the American League.

It's definitely looking like the Pittsburgh Pirates {89-33} will be going to the World Series for the 4th time, as with only a little more than a month to play they are now 24 games ahead of the Cincinnati Reds {66-58}. In August, Pittsburgh won 20 out of 25 games (7-3 at home, 13-2 on the the road). Our Brooklyn Superbas {52-71} didn't do badly during the month, winning 8 out of 11 away games, but are definitely out of the running for the National League pennant. Our goal now is to not finish in last place. The 3rd place Philadelphi Phillies {63-60} are the only other team still in contention. That means that either Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, or Philadelphia will be representing the National League in the World Series.
The American League is much more competitive as the season approaches its end. Every team still theoretically has a chance to win the pennant. The Detroit Tigers {75-48} went 6-3 away from Detroit but only increased their lead by half a game over the Philadelphia Athletics {67-55}, who had a mixed month, going 3-6 at home but 11-5 on the road. The 6-3 road stint of the Cleveland Blues {65-56} moved them half a game closer to 1st place. No other significant movement in the American League.

Sept. 19th - The Pittsburgh Pirates have broken the National League record for most wins in a season with their 100th win in a 2-1 home win over St. Louis in the first game of a double header. The previous record of 99 wins was held both by Pittsburgh (1905) and Chicago (1906). The American League record of 99 wins by Philadelphia (1906) will not be broken this season.

By now, the Pirates should have moved Honus Wagner to shortstop and traded for a good rightfielder. Just think how awesome they would be then! They are certainly dominating the first decade of your association. Great stuff!
Unfortunately, since I imported Wagner in 1900, the only way he's going to change position is if I do it manually. But since I'm really playing an alternative history, such as by using full time Closers, I'm not going to worry about him changing position. He definitely has been a staple of the Pirates power, as you can see from the images below.

Great stolen base totals, and an amazing fielding percentage (especially considering those small gloves). He is definitely a franchise player. Has Brooklyn tried to trade for him?
I have a house rule for this association regarding trading.
1) No computer trades.
2) My team (currently Brooklyn) can trade 1 on 1 to send one of my players to their historically correct team in exchange for either:
a) a player that should historically be on my team, or
b) a player that historically does not belong on the team I am trading to
In either case, the team I am trading with will always receive a player that historically belongs on their roster. In this way, I can kind of act as a broker between teams, since they can't amongst themselves, if I meet the required conditions. So this means that the available trades in the association change from season to season. However, I am under no obligations to initiate these trades, nor to accept who the opponent is willing to trade to me. There's no way I'm going to trade away a star player for a scrub just because he doesn't belong on my team.
So since Honus Wagner historically played the rest of his career with the Pirates he will end up doing so in my replay.
It's probably a silly rule but it makes for some interesting situations, especially with Player Affinity and Early Entry turned on. There are times there have been more players available for my team in the amateur draft than I was able to bring aboard, especially if I had prior players I wasn't willing to push out of the way.
