gdsnake,

I was assuming folks were saying that they had grappeled 'HMS Victory' ;) and then the brits retreated.. then they checked and low and behold the Victory was amongst the retreated British ships.

@ Hard Sarge: "challenging," didn't mean that in an aggressive way! [:D] More like . . . 'asking for confirmation/more detail' is what I meant by 'challenging.'

A few times I have definitely felt like I got "jipped" as far as capturing units goes and them not showing up as POWs or boat captures or what have you. But I have been paying closer attention to the Events and I see that pretty often, if you capture some arty that is really badly banged up, it will automatically disband it if it is below 2000 strength. I had noticed the scrapping the badly damaged ships. The ungrappling message would be a good idea.

Still, I'll keep my eyes out if there are any 'jips' I suffer and post a well-documented set of screenshots, .sves etc. if I find them! (which I doubt I will [;)] )
The x-ray is her siren song. My ship cannot resist her long. Nearer to my deadly goal. Until the black hole. Gains control...

no hassle, I follow your meaning now (which is why I asked, I was asking for more details)

arty can be a pain, there are a couple of way you can capture it, but pretty much only one way to capture it and keep it as your own (and then there is still a chance it will disband afterward)

Hard Sarge,

I did fight 3 detailed naval battles. Definitely some grappled ships were captured. I think that the ships that were still grappled at the end of the battle were captured.

I can't be sure, because there is no ungrappling message.

In addition to failed boarding causing ungrappling I understand from the manual that there is a chance of a ship being ungrappled at the start of each turn. Again , the lack of a message makes this very hard to keep track of.

I really appreciate that you are going to ask Eric to put in an ungrapple message.

Thanks much,

Vaalen

thank you

I think what may of happened, is the boarding action failed and the grapple was undone (I really only started to notice this a little while back)

there is no message saying that the ships were ungrappled, so if you don't see the grapple line, or try and board and get a, need to grapple first message, it could of happened and you never had a chance to see/find out

(maybe we need to ask Eric to put in a message for when ships ungrapple)  (I will)

but, I will keep an eye out for this, and if you can watch, that would be a big help

There is no ungrappling message, but the red line does go away.
