Crossing tree lines - a video tutorial

Also have thrown in a few wooden fences to spice things up for those armoured crews.

How do your tanks move so smoothly? If I were to try those same manuevers, my tank would either spin in circles or go off in another direction and maybe reach the set point through some twisted path. The only way I can move a tank straight is with waypoints set every 15 meters!

That looks about like mine work. Didn't realize that tanks and stuff did not go 'deep' into the woods. I think I was a bit confused by what the AI does.

AI seems to pretty routinely run his tanks and other vehicles deep into forested areas. Also, AI seems to have a thing for startup placement of vehciles (and esp ATGs) so far inside forests that the things cannot possibly get back out during the battle. Would encourage having a look at restricting initial placement of vehicles so that plopping them down so far inside a forest that they will be unlikely to get out is effectively eliminated from initial placement opportunities. An ATG a few meters inside a treeline, or even 10m is one thing: maybe with enough twisting and turning the crew could manage to get it in there. But the AI (and me too) routinely place ATGs (and tanks) 40, 50, even 60 meters inside of a continously forested area.

One of the last battles i just fought, LieFrange I think it was, I had the northern half, AI had south. Three AI ATGs: one in a barn, one on top of a ridge in the south that was at least 40m from a treeline, one right out in the open. I placed pretty much all 5 or 6 of my vehicles on the ridge in the central northern part, and then sent them trekking along the top of the map (through the forest) over to the north-south road. In credit to your statements Andrew, I think only about 2 of them became tracked.

Now that I understand the reality of it, I'm sure it won't bug me anymore [:'(]

If the intent is to strongly discourage 'off-roading' into the solid forests, then I'd say it is WAD. Whether that is an historically accurate game mechanic that reflects realism, I'll trust you guys! You're the designers! [:D]

And don't worry; whatever sour-grapes might cause some to not buy will likely cause another player to lap it up like candy [;)]

Also: here is an idea or a "wish-list" kind of thing: if you startup in control of a map after defending it for a day or so: allow a certain number of "clearing areas" to be created--little circle where threes are removed.
The x-ray is her siren song. My ship cannot resist her long. Nearer to my deadly goal. Until the black hole. Gains control...
