NOD32 is good but has been moving down in the eyes of the experts with version 4.  I used NOD32 for years but have moved to Avira.  Check out http://www.wilderssecurity.com for some good information.

Yeah, I'm running v3 here with no problems.

I got a 2-years-license of G-DATA Internet Security with my last computer purchase and another free license of Norton Internet Security, as part of my phone/i-net provider contract. However, the latter one tourned out as a a real ressource hog on my old AMD 3500+. So I didn't install it on the new rig.

Try PC Tools' Spyware Doctor combined with ESET's NOD32 Anti-Virus.

Can't go wrong with that one!

The latest version of Norton is very good.

Do a search on Google.

Norton puts a little tag on the end of each search result teling you whether the site is suspicious or not.

Well I finally installed Mozilla Firefox as my default browser and installed Adblock onto it. So far it has been like night and day. I spent the past hour on CivFanatics forums getting tossed around by malicious ads which have become a real problem there. Installed Adblock and haven't had a problem since. Thank you Mozilla! [&o]

Adblock is only a temporary solution to the problem of how advertising works in the Internet. If too many people will use adblock, then there will be not enough income to host sites.

There needs to be some kind of pressure on how ads are made for the internet (i.e. no animated ads outside movies - internet is about reading and animated ads disturb reading, no ads like "you have won!", no ads with trojans, no intrusive pop-ups etc.) or the whole thing will get ugly sooner or later.

I'm in an advertising school reading the section of manual dedicated to advertising in the Internet makes me want to puke. Especially how the author writes about how animated ads are good because they attract atention - yeah, they attract my attention when I'm trying to read. It's kinda like producer was a retarded child constantly screaming "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!" "Look at me!"
[:D]

And now it's time the most awesome argument of some people who make ads - ads have to be annoying and intrusive because one being annoyed will make the watcher remember the product and buy it later in future.
So, they are even openly saying that they are trying to brainwash the internauts O_o ? Wow.

But then it may be just me - maybe I'm one of the few people who actually are attracted to pictures and actually read google ads.
