HEre's the thing... the AI is tough because no one "knows" what it will do. 

I always wondered about those that would complain about a weak AI after they had played the game 5 times.

i can only agree. although i haven't gotten far in the campaign, i took the liberty to take a short tour by looking through the AI scripts. wow. Andy, thanks for the amount of work you put into this. The options are just wonderful, including indian ocean raids etc.
I can only agree, this game will keep me coming back to it for a long time to come.
not to forget the graphics!
