Forget it, I quit. I have tried to make sense out of the fleet screen and I cannot get anything done. A retarded monkey could have come up with something better.
I wish I could get my money back.

I have been likened to a retarded monkey and I figured it out :D

This game really is just a notch above your beer & pretzels game with some great strategy involved. At this point you need someone who knows the game sitting next to you and actually showing you what to do, followed by your hand hitting your forehead once you figure out how simple it really is. If I lived near you Memoryleak I would stop on by to show how to do replacements and supply :)

This is the first time I have tried to link in this forum, so I hope I get it right. Time of Wrath is an overhaul of a previous game WWII:Road to Victory. In the forum for that game, I posted a brief overview of the naval system.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2062097

If the link does not work, go to the World War 2 section of the forum, look for the Road to Victory forum, go to the war room, and find the Ensign's Guide thread.

There was also a thread in the main RtV forum in which a number of people requested clarifications and additions.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2062351

A few notes are in order:

RtV did not have a naval attack mission for air units, so there is no discussion of this mission.

The naval interface has changed slightly. In RtV, when you selected a fleet and hit the move button, the naval screen highlighted legal ports and sea zones for your destination. In ToW, the naval screen only shows legal destinations, all others vanish when you hit the move button. E.G., if the Axis does not control Copenhagen, when you atttempt to move a German fleet in the Baltic, you will not see the "sea box" for the North Sea.

My limited experience in ToW indicates that the cost of sea transport points is fixed, and is no longer dependent upon the number currently available to your nation, thus removing the ability to reduce the cost by buying after you embark units.

In the discussion thread, I listed STPs needed to move and supply specific unit types. I have NOT verified the exact costs, but my limited experience indicates that relative costs are the same. E.G., an armored corps costs more to transport and supply than an infantry division.

If you wish to try again on this game, please read my Ensign's Guide as a starting point. I think it likely you will still have questions, so feel free to post them here. I should also mention that as a resident of Dixon, I am about 20 miles from Woodland, so I can communicate off-line or even meet you somewhere if you want.

Edited for typo correction. Sigh, why do I always see these typos after I post.

I don't understand supply now but with a few hundred hours of study there is always a possibility of it clicking, so please don't make it any more complicated.

I can't even get the darn replacements figured out. I have some units with a strength of one and it says they are topped out while others at 7 can be increased. I don't think it is supply because I am playing the Poland simple scenario and the units seem to have enought supply being next to cities.

This game system assigns different max strengths to different unit types and tech levels. Refer to Section 5.8.3 of the manual for maximum actual strengths, and the factors that influence effectivity %.

Check out the % actual strength, when you select the unit. For example, a maximum strength level 1 infantry division will show stength of 1, actual strength 100%, and then some % effectivity which will be a multiplier applied to produce an effective strength. A level 2 armored corps will have a strength of 9, so if it has taken no losses and is not in range of a leader, it's effective strength can be as high as 9.0*(1.1*doctrine level).

I hope this helps.
