I noticed another problem yesterday: if a unit gets a new upgrade (gains an experience level) and you load a saved game without selecting the upgrade, the upgrade window will still be there. Clicking on an upgrade will result in a CTD, but clicking on the cross to close the window works.

I used an European VPN to download the patch, it works, so it seems that this ftp address does not work for China at least.

Thanks. I think this case will not appear very often but i will fix this issue the next days.

Does the update have different content than the public beta of the update, in other words: do I need to download the update?

It's almost identical to the final version of the public beta, but the public beta was updated multiple times while it was available, so if you have any doubts whether you had the final public beta or not, I would download the official update.
